For convience's sake I used the German pcpartpicker. Prices are already in Euro and are pretty comparable to what they would be in the Netherlands. With this budget you will also be able to throw in some custom sleeved cables if you have the windowed version of the case.

Hey there :) Welcome to the community!

A small suggestion from me:

Since you are keeping your storage devices and you are reusing them it would be a good time to check their health if it's still good to keep the data on the new upgraded system. Running diagnostic tools from the manufacturers should give you a pretty good idea of the drives' conditions. Also, checking the raw values of the S.M.A.R.T. status of each drive could give you an even more detailed picture of what's going on with the drives. For the WD Black drive the tool would be WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic. Let me know if you need any help with this. :)

He doesn't really need a 6850K.... And if I recall correctly, the 6800K and the 5820K have a €100 price difference in Europe, he might as well save some money and Buy the 5820K...

Thanks for all the suggestions will have a look at them in more detail after work.

Also the SSD's are both healthy had some problems recently and send them RMA and got new ones back. The HDD might get switch as well but have to see if it's needed.

The last thing I still wanted to ask if anyone knows a good 1440p monitor? I don't play much fps games so no need for a 144hz.

Greetings,

They don't come cheap but they're both great 60Hz monitors.

For processor if games is all he has in mind, I would go with a 6600k i5 and some fast ram. In situations where your CPU is the bottleneck, fast ram makes a difference. Also, a 1080 would run a ultra wide display without much trouble so I would use it.

Main rig: Shockwave - MSI Z170 Gaming 7 MOBO, i7-6700k, 16GB DDR4 3000 MHz RAM, KFA2 GTX 980ti HOF, Corsair RM1000 PSU, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD, WD 7200RPM 3TB, Corsair Air 540 White, ASUS P278Q 1440p 144Hz display.

Laptop: Lenovo Y510p, i7-4700HQ, 12 GB (8+4) 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, GT755 2GB SLI graphis card, 1366x768 display.

Is there a noticeable difference between a quad core or 6-Core for gaming?

Maybe only with extremely CPU intensive games, but I can't think of any. For gaming only, I'd go with a Quad core with a higher clock speed over a 6-core with lower clock speed. For example, the Quad core i7-6700K runs at 4.0GHz with a 4.2GHz boost and the 6-core i7-5820K runs at 3.3GHz with a 3.6GHz boost. Of course you can overclock the 5820K to 4GHz or more, but with that comes heat, which means better cooling, etc etc.

Six Core has more headroom to do other things while gaming.... And they will be better with DX12 games, as they can utilize more than 4 cores (6-8 etc.)

The plan looks quite good! The PSU is a bit overkill in terms of wattage but it never hurts to have more than needed if you can afford it since it can give you more room for upgrades down the road.

Any reason why you are going with a SSD and a WD Black instead of a more simple storage drive like the WD Blue?

The reason why I have the that PSU in there and the SSD's and HDD  is because I all ready have them in my current PC. The PSU is indeed overkill but I had a good deal for that back in the day.

I understand. I was confused since you mentioned a 500GB WD Black in your initial list and the link contains a 1TB WD Black. :)

Let me know if you have any questions. Also, make sure you check the health of those drives since you are reusing them.

These parts should enable you to game pretty good and run pretty much everything you run on the build. :) Make sure you post a build log with photos so we can check it out! Feel free to ask if there are any  questions!

Hello all,

Just a quick update I will start a build log this week when all the parts arrive. I had a nice deal with my old parts so I had a bit more money to spend on this build. Also I change some parts which I liked better. Also I got some white extension cables from cable mod for 30euros which should fit well with the build.

The parts list looks great! Make sure you check the health of all those reused storage devices before trusting hem with the data of the new build.

Another thing you could consider is going for 2x8GB instead of 4x4GB for the memory in order to save a bit from the cost and to have more room for future upgrades.

Standing by for photos of the build. :)

As a sidenote: Concerning those Speakers you got - had them myself and thought they are ok. Till I got these. Yeah. Well. Thats said. The diffrence in sound quality is so big that I don't even wanna start... Comparing those 2 speaker sets would be like comparing a Vauxhaul Corsa to a Bentley Intercontinental GT.... But since your setup is not on the cheap side I thought I might throw you a bone there, since it's all good stuff you picked allready, would be a shame to have such crappy speakers ;.)

Yes they got no sub and yes they are pricy but also: yes they will outrock anything below 200€ and the sice of 'em is just a joke compared to how they perform.

I use my headphones for almost everything and only if friends come over I use those speakers. So in my case it's simply not worth it atm. Maybe I will consider it if I got some money to spare. But thank you for the suggestion I will keep it in mind.
