Not really, your windows might deactivate though (mine did when I did a processor swap) so you might have to reactivate it. But it's pretty much just plug and play.

I recently sold my 6600K for no loss on eBay (got it on sale for cheap, now used is worth the same amount) and bought a 6700K for some future-proofing. Figured the $100 was worth not having to upgrade mobo and CPU later on once an older i5 doesn't quite cut it...

 

Anyway, I'm planning to reset BIOS to default before I swap. Is there anything else I should do on the software side? Thanks for any tips.

Alright nice. I thought the Windows thing was just tied to mobo, but who knows lol. I assume I can just call up Microsoft and tell them?

Yup, if it deactivates then give windows a call. There should a prompt when you boot up (If window deactivates)
