Noctua A4-A15 - 40mm to 140mm Fans

Dredgy

I've talked about Noctua products a lot, and I had a whole box of Noctua products just sitting around to make hovercrafts out of so thought I'd unbox some of them.

Not gonna lie, this video is far from my best effort, but should still be informative. As usual, best viewed on a 21:9 monitor.

Pros

  • Usual Noctua build quality, packaging and performance
  • 40mm A4 somehow is silent at 4500RPM.
  • 40mm fan also includes a kit to directly wire it to whatever specialised application you need it for (was using it in a point of sale system).
  • A fan for every occasion.

Cons

  • Packaging on 40 and 60mm fans are a tad wasteful considering the size of the fans.

@Nacho Marco Segui I've never tested them extensively, but I did try them once a long time ago, they were quiet and well built, as every other fan from Noctua. I prefer the square frame though and used A14 and A15 in my personal rig. Those fans are beasts.

The P14 is discontinued now iirc, I'm fairly sure the A15 was the successor. The P14s redux isn't something I've tried.

I am a bit skeptical about noctua since i tried the NF-f12, I thought they were more silent and more powerful

I use NF-F12s (and S12s) in all of my office PCs. I've always found them to be dead silent, to the point I can't hear them no matter how close my ear is to the fan, and they don't pick up on my microphones either. I can't accurately measure their airflow performance.

But at what RPMs?

I usually turn them down as low as I can. At 1200RPM the NF-F12 is completely silent. I run them on the office PCs at about 200RPM.

The redux series is just a recoloring with less accessories. The NF-P14S is just a NF-P14 with a square frame.

NF-F12's probably have the worse tonality out of all of their fans but they are still very quiet. What rpm were you running it at? It's usually very quiet when below ~500rpm.

1200rpm is far from silent for most people with the NF-F12. They are usually not noticeable when below ~600rpm.

From like 4 feet I can't hear my NF-F12s.

From 600, you can't hear them unless you put your ear in the fan. Which I have done.

It may be due to your environment. I can hear NF-F12's in my room when they're above ~400rpm from 3-4 feet away.
