How can movies be out for downloading before the dvd is out?

Bakgrund
Go to solution Solved by linusforsell,

No a Swedish movie called Wallander.

Ah, the Wallander movies, three unreleased ones supposedly leaked long before their debut. There was some local (Swedish) news coverage about it not long ago, but there's no information on how they were leaked I think. Scratch that last part, it's mentioned in the news articles.

Hey!

It just came to my mind that a movie that i saw on a torrent-site isn't out for dvd yet, how is this possible? The morality-talk can we take somewhere else.

The releasedate is set to 25/9 but it's up for downloading.

Do you mean iron man 3? My local cable provider already offered it to buy and watch about a week ago even though amazon listed that dvd/bluray would be out on 24 sept.

Yes i saw it and it is certainly a dvdrip. And the rules only says that we are not allowed to "request, distribute, link to or enable any activities which involve the procurement or distribution of pirated software, product cracks or keys or the supply, exchange or distribution of any copyright material including TV recordings."

Screener copies, copies sent to reviewers then get ripped.

That may explain it. Thanks.

Someone somewhere ripped it when they had a chance, its physical media that has to be distributed to shops and so on before it can be released so thats where the window for ripping opens. For example console games, many people have friends that work in stores that give you "early access" to unreleased titles. Obviously theres screeners, R5 (dvd's released sooner in Russia), Cam rips and whatever have you. I mean if cinemas wouldn't have such strict protection for movies we would have higher than HD resolution rips on torrents seconds after the first screening happened.

I don't see why is this a problem for anyone, if you don't like torrents don't use them.

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)
