^===Pretty Budget Build or Bigger Brother Build===^

Here is the pretty budget build. I am new to building PC's, so i just want to get on my feet and learn before I build in like 3 weeks. I would like to see how this performs in Call of Duty Black Ops 2, as that is the game I will mostly be playing. What FPS do you think it will reach maxed out and everything. Here is the build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DnEy

Okay, so here is the Bigger Brother PC and I already know it will max out most games. I believe I am going to go with this build as it will last longer and gets better performance, but hey, I'm new, so i'm taking suggestions. Here is the build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DnKi Oh, and at the moment, I am NOT going to be overclocking. I will maybe later.

Please leave your thoughts and suggestions. Even come up with bigger, better builds than these two. As I said, I am trying to get the most FPS in Call of Duty Black Ops 2 on the best settings. Thanks so much!!!

With that second build I would change the RAM 1600mhz C9 as you will not notice any performance increase between that and 2133. I'd downgrade the motherboard to a P8Z77-M Pro or M and use the saved money to upgrade the graphics card.

Other than that, not too bad.

Hey, thanks for replying. The only reason I jumped to 2133 memory is because it's mostly cheaper than others, so I thought I would just go for that. And actually, I am trying to save some money, so how would this build look? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DtOe I changed to AMD because I heard they have better upgradability later on, as the 1155 socket is dying out. Also, at Microcenter, the FX-8350 is a 169 dollars and the motherboard is 19 dollars as a bundle. Also, the SSD is 80 bucks because of a sale.

So that's what I think i am going to go with, not too sure yet.

From what I've seen Black Ops II isn't difficult to run, so you would probably be able to max it out with an FX6300 + HD7850. Just something worth considering, as with both builds you can easily fit something higher-end than that. Just something to keep in mind...

First off however, although the 2133mhz memory is pretty cheap for what it is, it's simply unnecessary given the performance difference in games will be negligible. I would recommend going for this kit instead, which is identical but 1600mhz. From what I've seen $10 doesn't seem like much with a computer build, but if you save $10 off each component, then it adds up quickly to a notable amount.

I wouldn't recommend an FX8350 for a gaming rig though, most games typically aren't utilizing more than 4 cores, so you'll see no performance difference when compared to the FX6300. Especially since that's $120 from microcenter, you can save quite a bit of money there. If you want something higher-end, the i5 3470 costs $150 from there too, which is a very nice deal.

Anyways, I've did a bit of shuffling around and I've come up with three builds: one that'll max out BL2, along with two others for the two price points which offer a bit more performance in games, if needed:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DvE1

The SSD is more of a placeholder since you can get it for cheaper, but you get the idea. I've put in better power supplies for each rig based on the budget and wattage, which would probably be a better choice than the CX. Also dropped the cooler since I didn't think it would be necessary, but you can add it in if you wish. CPU overclocking doesn't affect gaming performance too much though, especially if you are GPU-bottlenecked. Lastly, you could up the GPU in your brother's build to a HD7970, but I personally thought that would be rather overkill.

Hey, thanks for your reply.

So, I was wondering, because at MicroCenter, the 8350 and 3570k are the same price. Also, they are in bundles, and I would like to get somewhat of a good mobo just in case I crossfire or SLI one day. The bundle with 8350 has a originally 92 dollar motherboard as 19 bucks in the bundle, so that is why I chose that. As for the intel, the mobo in that one is 59 bucks at MicroCenter in the bundle. So thats the reasoning behind putting those in.

Also, I said mainly Black Ops 2...but I may in the future will play BF3 as I am really enjoying it on console :P. (console sucks). Anyways, lol, so yeah, I would like to stick with the 7870 ghz edition by XFX. I have heard good things and seen them too.

As for the power supply, I chose that one because it is 60 bucks at MicroCenter! And its modular, and Im OCD (not really), so I would like to keep my build tidy.

I have thought about it, and figured I'm not going to overclock. So yeah, I'll drop the cooler.

Thanks for your reply!

Price doesn't mean a thing really when it comes to quality. What are the actual motherboards?

The Intel Motherboard is the Asus P8-Z77 LK motherboard.

The AMD Motherboard is the Asrock 977 or soething like that.

Neither are amazing boards. I'd just buy the chip and board separately. Something like an Extreme 4 or P8Z77-M Pro.
