Google is good for particular BIOS,

you could probably expect easy 4.3 ghz

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

It depends on your mobo , Z97 would get 4.1-4.4 easy .

Your hyper 212 might be a bit noisy though .

I would like a guide on how to overclock the 4690k step by step if possible. Also what most people are getting on max ghz?!

For intel...

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE SURE YOUR BIOS AND DRIVERS ARE UP TO DATE FIRST...

Set manual voltage to 1.3v

Increase clock speed by +.1GHz from base clock. Run 5 min stress test

Pass - Increase clock speed by +.1GHz. Run 5 min stress test... Keep doing this until you fail.

Fail - decrease clock speed by -.1GHz You have found your overclock.

After you found your overlcock set your voltage to Adaptive Voltage with the same 1.3v.

DONE OVERCLOCKING

Notes:

DO NOT STRESS TEST UNDER ADAPTIVE VOLTAGE!

Turn on XMP profile. All settings should do themselves automatically.

Stress test with Aida64 Trial version. DO NOT STRESS TEST WITH PRIME95!

Watch your temps... If your Cooler is bad you wont be able to handle 1.3v... If you are going over 80c you are doing bad

Getting high temps when you think you are not suppose to be? Try re-seating your Cooler.

If you can't handle 1.3v... Get a new cooler, cause you shouldn't be overclocking if you cant cool off 1.3v

7800X3D - MSI B650 MAG Tomahawk - 32GB 6000mhz CL30 - Gigabyte 3080 TI - 2TB NVME - 1000w PSU - ID Cooling 240mm AIO

I have to disagree with a lot of what you said.  Some is correct, but most of it is a gross oversimplification of how to overclock, and with very bad settings.

Yet you didn't give your own answer on how to fix the problem. :)

I would but I'm on vacation and don't have access to all of my bookmarks to proper guides.  What I can assure, is that your way is not the proper way to overclock.
