White smoke Aprilia SR50

Hi guys!

 

There are undoubtably some petrol heads here that could help. I have a >1999 Aprilia SR50 scooter and it is watercooled. 

Yesterday it had some trouble starting with the electric start engine. I kickstarted it and it worked great but when i gave gas a lot of white smoke came out of the exhaust. When i went for a drive it didn't have that problem. 

Today i started it and again, a lot of white smoke when i start the scooter. I filmed it and you can watch it here: 

 

Is this a serious problem? I heard from a friend that maybe something is leaking in to the cilinderhead but i don't know. I think it is because the scooter is not warmed up yet but i don't know for sure.

When 2 strokes are cold they produce a lot of smoke. You said the smoke goes away after you go for a drive and let the engine warm up, which would indicate that there is no problem.

Well this is off-topic so if you want you can talk about bunnies if you want..

white-water (headgasket)
blue-oil (typical 2 stroke, dont worry)
black-over fuelling (bit rich)
if its more blue than white dont worry, my kdx125 head gasket went but it was like a steam engine at the back way before billowing clouds of steam, unless yours is like that its probably just oil and mentioned above, might be worth buying ahead gasket kit cheap if you can just in case (depending on price).
edit, that little bit? yeah thats just warming up so theres a little blow-by, relax.

To me that looks pretty normal for a 2-stroke.

Could be because it's cold and old

If it goes away fast then it's normal.

I have it for a reasonably short time, like 2 weeks. Before i had this scooter i was riding a 4 stroke.
