hi im thinking of upgradging my hd 69501gb to a hd7950 or gtx 660

heres my specs x4 955be @3.8

corsair cx 600w psu

hd6950 1gb

a 1600x900 screeen

so what do u think

heres the games i play gta 4 sleeping dogs mafia 2 css cs-go minecraft gta sa farcry 3

well did want to upgrade because the hd 6950 1gb is really nosie and get really hot like 80c with 70% fan speed

The 7870 would be a bump, but for a real upgrade I suggest a 7950:

That is 7870 Ghz edition... not Tahiti LE.

Tahiti LE is basically a 7950 with 256 less shader processors and 256bit memory bus.

a 7870 is a large upgrade to a 6950, however as the others have said look at a 7950 for a good upgrade. also dont forget nvidia has a wide variety of cards available, for example the 660Ti or 670. At the end of the day the 6950 should be able to play the games you stated maxed out anyway, so an upgrade might not be in your best interests.

At the current time i would recommend nothing, wait until the Radeon HD 8000 series or the GTX 700 series come out, you might feel really cheated if a 8950 comes out that rinses the 7950 and costs the same, or likewise with nvidia. Your rig is currently good enough for gaming on the your resolution at max settings, if your card runs to hot or you feel like it is louder than it should be contact the card provider to see about getting a replacement if you are still under warranty.
