GTX 660

frize86

Hi!

I have a Gigabyte GTX 660 Windforce (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4361#ov)

The thing is, the fans are way too loud even at idle...

Is it possible to remove those two fans and the plastic, leaving the heatsink on, and attach a 120mm fan to it?

Or put the fan as side intake, blowing directly at the gpu? (would that work?)

My case is the coolermaster cm690 (the first one that got out).

Im thinking of silenx effizio 74cfm, 15db. One fan only should do the job, as the heatsink has some nice heatpipes.

Thanks!

I'm afraid that's not possible :( you can sell your current one and get a better brand like msi twin frozr or a a asus directCU

the worst thing is that the fan profile is way too agressive. Minimum is 40% at 25 C idle.

anti turbulence my as$ lol

Weird, my Gigabyte card is I swear almost silent at full load, I can't hear it at all. Is there any specific reasons you think it is making noise?

Something happened when i installed 320.18 drivers from nvidia. Fans got too loud.

Im now back at 314.22 with a Windows upgrade, and they're still loud :s

My system is dead silent, except for the gpu now.

Its not that fan motor noise, its that annoying noise from the air turbulence.

Thanks

Well, unnindtall your drivers, clean all the registries, then install an older version, that happened to me one time, just repeat until you nail it. You can also buy an AM cooler, but the Gigabyte cooler is so boss, you won't need anthing else, and it's very silent when drivers don't interfere, so just reinstall until you get it right.
