2 DVI monitor + 1 DVI-to-HDMI (7970)

Hi, a simple question. I have 3 monitors. 2 DVI cables and 1 HDMI cable. (+ 1DVI-to-HDMI adapter)

Because my Video card (XFX HD7970 black edition) has 2 DVI exit, 1 HDMI and 2 mDP.

when I go to the Catalyst center I can see all 3 monitors but Only use 2 of them, it's not a problem of "DVI and HDMI at the same time" like I read on a lot of other forum post. because I can nicely extend my desktop accros my DVI and HDMI display, but when I try to add the 3rd monitor it tells me: post-29367-0-20737000-1417568779_thumb.p

my setup is: post-29367-0-44213300-1417569109.png

is it because it's a different monitor? (different brand but same resolution)

I'm planning to change it anyway since it's just a temp monitor. I want to buy a 16:9 monitor and use it as central and put my 1 and 2 monitor at the sides, I'm afraid I might have the same problem, so if it's just a matter of cable compatibility what would be the best setup? ie: central monitor on DP and the external on HDMI, will I still be able to run extended desktop this way?)

did a bit of research and turns out that you have to use display port for one of the monitors

yep I've read some similar answers. the fact is I don't have any display port cables or adapter atm. and I think I'll buy them when I'll buy the new screen at this point... uhm. thanks anyway :)

Just one last info for the cable.. Should I buy a DVI splitter for the external  monitors and use the second DVI port on my gpu for the main screen?

Or I should keep them on 2 DVI for the external and 1 DP for the main?  I think DP has more feature and performance than DVI or for what I'm planning to do (1080p 60+fps) I don't have to care about bottlenecks in the connector?   but on the other hand a monitor with a Display port might be hard to find or cost more than a standard HDMI (I could still use an adapter...(?) uhm)

what config would you use?
