MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G not downclocking while idle

Nezhull

Hi, everybody

I gave a problem with my new MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G card, after trying overclocking with MSI Afterburner (trying same +26 as gaming app does 1114 -> 1140) card always stays at 50% power, ~60c temp and constant 1.025 voltage, while idel in desktop. I don;t know what to do, I restarted my PC, reseted settings in Afterburner, uninstalled it... It looks like Afterburner overridden power profiles or something. Before this incident card used to run ~40c temps and ~120 mhz.

Has anyone encountered similar problem? Can I somehow restore everything to normal?

Thanks in advance.

What is your monitor set up? I have 2 1080p monitors, one 144hz one 60hz. With that set up my 980 doesn't idle the clocks at all, but if I switch the 144hz down to 60hz it idles fine.

I have just a single 1080p 60zh monitor. I'm sure Afterburner did this. I'm wondering what is responsible for graphics card auto downclock in idle mode? Is it drivers or card bios? maybe I need to reset card bios (really don't want to do this)?

I say do a re install of the GPU drivers

use DUU to un-install the drivers

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

then install the lastest non-beta driver

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Yep, that helped, card now idles at 135mhz, ~40c. Thanks a lot.
