2 Broken GPUs in a Row?

Hi,

 

I just built my own computer:

i5-4670k

Fatal1ty ASRock Z87 MOBO 1150 Socket

MSI Twin Frozr GTX 770

 

Everything works until I install the Graphics driver. I have tried wiping everything, reinstalling Windows 8, 7 times, all with different drivers. The system breaks and loses video signal every time. I ordered a new GPU, same thing.

 

So I gave that GPU to my friend and same thing happened. He put in the GPU into his system and once he installed the driver, it froze instantly, he restarted, no signal. He has none of the same hardware.

 

Is it possible that I really got two broken GPUs in a row?

Its possible. i would RMA them. and hope you get a good one. or just bug msi for a 970, now that youve had so much trouble with the 770s ;)

sounds dumb, but have you tried a different input method? ie. hdmi vs dvi. could be the cable or even the monitor.  but deffinately rma them.

Yes, I have, I've tried VGA, DVI, and HDMI. Thanks though :).

No chance your mobo is ruining them?

that is a small possibility but one none the less.

I say RMA it and if it breaks a third time then start looking at the mobo.

There is almost no chance of getting three bad gpus in a row.

When and if you get a new one, test it in another pc first. Extra precaution.
