New gaming rig, sudden crashes with noise, please help

Morfy

Hi guys, i built my first pc, i'm gonna put down the specs here and then i'll explain the issue i'm having. So: Asus p8h77-v LE motherboard Core I3 3240 at 3.4 ghz , 8 gb of corsair vengeance ram at 1866 (i know the processor won't drive 1866 but 1600 i think it can handle) a 750 w OCZ zs series psu, Corsair carbide 500r case and no GPU for now, still trying to decide, 7770 ghz ed or 650 or 650ti, around this price range. So what's happening is that in order for the system to maintain itself up with both dimms in place, i had to increase to 1.57v on the memory and set it to 1600 mhz, also had to modify the timigs to 9-10-9-27 and 2T, as it's on the corsair package. But from time to time, while playing a HD video on youtube or playing COD 4 it happens that the system freezes and making an odd sound (i think only while using the front panel headset), the only option left being restarting from the case button. Now, i was coming across this issue on my old laptop, seemed to be a driver-direct x problem, idk, but here the cause might be using the onboard graphics, which by the way is better than the HD5470 on the laptop. Also if you know a wy to test the ram to see actual timings and freq, it would be much apperciated, thanks a lot guys for helping me out here :D

What kind of sound? Where is the sound coming from? Also, if they're corsair vengeance, can't you set it to the XMP profile or something?

had it on xmp, at 1600, now i'm trying manual tuning, same xmp settings, the sound is like a 2-3 bit sound, idk how to describe it, if you ever changed the video settings on cod4 while on a server, yuo'll know what i'm saying, i'll try memtest and come back

the bios is on performance, and there are no errors with memtest, but it shows 1600, which is good, BUT the cas is 9-9-9-24 instead of 9-10-9-27, i'll verify the setting in the bios and come back at you, any suggestions on GPU?

ok, i turned on the OC Tuner from bios, pumped up my 3240 to 3.5 ghz which is kind of cool :)) also, managed to set the cas latency to 9-10-9-27 and increased the voltage to 1.55 just to be sure, by the way, since last night after i wrote this post down, no crashing occured, looking good :D
