RAM crashing when set to 3600MHz

first of all, make sure they're in slot 2 and 4.

then set the soc to 1.1 and dram to 1.35, go for 3200 with docp enabled and check. if that work.

go for 3600 with docp and check if that's stable.

Hi all,

I have recently built a new rig and got Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB of DDR4 3600MHZ. When I first booted up noticed it was running at 2166MHZ so I went into the BIOS and enabled D.O.C.P.

I first tried setting it to 3600MHz but it crashed so I've lowered the speed incrementally until it stopped crashing at 3200MHz.

I was just wondering why I can't get it stable at the speed it says on the pack? I have it paired with a Ryzen 9 3900XT and an ASUS Strix X570-F Motherboard.

Any help will be appreciated.

Which is it? Did you enable DOCP or manually set it to 3600Mhz?

Well when I enable D.O.C.P it allows me to change the speed? Or am I missing something. I'm new to this with RAM. This is my first new build in 5 years.

Ahh, I have them in slots 1 and 3 just now. I'll try moving them tomorrow. I'm trying to get my head around all of this. This is my first new build in quite a while and all of this is new to me. Thanks for the advice

When you enable DOCP, you shouldn't have to change the speed. It may be editable, but it should already be set to 3600. That's what was confusing me. What did it say before you changed it?

Changing slots will likely cure you problem.

And a way to think about XMP/DOCP is as something of a preset.  When enabled ot makes some changes in BIOS for you, but you can still then change those settings on your own.  Something to note is that DOCP doesn't set all XMP settings.  At least from what I've seen on ASUS boards.  It sets speed, DRAM voltage, tCL, tRCD, tRP, tRAS -- though it doesn't set tRC, tRRDS, tRRDL, tFAW, tRFC that is included in the XMP.

Are you saying aboard may hit higher MHz if using 2 & 4 vs 1 & 3?

yes, for example, a T-topology board is usually terrible for 2 sticks setups, and it's amazing if you fill all 4 dimms, daisy chain works pretty good in slot 2 and 4 afaik.

Fun Fact: The Meshify c is the best case to ever exist.

first of all, make sure they're in slot 2 and 4.

then set the soc to 1.1 and dram to 1.35, go for 3200 with docp enabled and check. if that work.

go for 3600 with docp and check if that's stable.

Hey man,

I moved the RAM into slots 2 and 4 and the problem is fixed. System is running stable at 3600MHz. Thanks a lot for your help with this.
