I found "Intel® Desktop Board D945PLNM" on the motherboard. This is the only marking I found on the motherboard. So this is a 945 chip?

It only allows me to select PCI or PCIE GPU, I don't think my PC has an iGPU. The BIOS settings are limited.

The board has the Intel 945PL express chipset, and is hard limited to 3.25 GB of memory. The only way to get around it is a different motherboard.

I keep getting 3.2GB usable RAM and 770MB Hardware Reserved, but I installed 4GB RAM (2 x 2GB sticks).

I installed 64 bit version of Windows 10. I also tried going to "msconfig", and unchecking the "Max Memory".

The 0.8gb of ram is kept for iGPU, etc.

I have a Geforce 8400GS GPU. This PC also does not have an iGPU, since it does not have any display outputs from the motherboard.

I tried removing one of the RAM sticks and it only uses 2.1MB for Hardware Reserved.BE0E45C8-1FEB-4F90-8AB9-13728FB059BE.thumb.jpeg.ca10bfc899fd73dd8f85f2ace7c58914.jpeg

What chipset is this Mobo? I'm smelling one of the older 945 based chips... which had a hard limit of 3.25 GB.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Fedora 38 x86_64

Secondary: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Fedora 38 x86_64

Server: AMD Athlon PRO 3125GE, 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 ECC, TrueNAS Core 13.0-U5.1

Home Laptop: Intel Core i5-L16G7, 8 GB 4267 MHz LPDDR4x, Windows 11 Home 22H2 x86_64

Work Laptop: Intel Core i7-10510U, NVIDIA Quadro P520, 8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x86_64

One of my PC has i7-4790(yes igpu)+GTX 745, which doesnt preserve any of the 8GBs. But the other one 2970WX(no igpu)+20800Ti preserves 135MB out of 64GBs. And a Dell notebook with 3500U+Vega8(igpu) prserves more than 2GBs out of 8.

Have no idea why but you can change this in system configuration, but I dunno what will happen afterwards

You don't change your system config in the bios tho, instead you press Windows+R and type in msconfig and then enter, you will have the option to change the RAM in there
