It would seem that the laptop comes with a 144hz monitor installed? What do you need a second 144Hz for?

As for the question, HDMI 2.0 can do at least 144Hz 1080p and most likely so does the cable that you would get, it's a question whether or not the monitor supports 144Hz output with HDMI. For example my monitor, the Acer XF240H only supports HDMI 1.4 so it is 120Hz at 1080p, even though my cable and my GPU would be able to do more.

My stuff:

Spoiler

CPU :  Intel i5 8400 | GPU : MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4GB

RAM : 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 @ 3600MHz

Mouse : Logitech G502 HERO SE | Keyboard : Mountain Everest Max w/ Cherry MX Brown

Headset : Beyerdynamics DT990 Pro 250Ω w/ AT2020USB+

Monitor : Acer XF240H @  144Hz
