Switching from ATA to AHCI Poweredge R620

Hello everyone! So i recently got a Dell PowerEdge R620 and a Samsung 860 EVO 500gb SSD and i didn't realize it was in ATA mode. I would like to switch to AHCI but am not exactly sure how. When the server starts it says something like AHCI BIOS isn't installed, but i looked on the dell downloads and couldn't find anything. And if i can get it into AHCI mode is there a way i can keep my Windows install or not? Thanks!

What do you have installed? Windows Server? if so....

1. Exit all Windows-based programs.
2. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
4. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesMsahci
5. In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
7. Do the same thing for IastorV service
8. On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
9. Reboot and press F2 to go into BIOS or F10 to go into lifecycle controller and then into BIOS: then from there in SATA Operations (If I remember correctly) change boot option to enable AHCI mode

AHCI mode only applies if you have the SSD connected to an onboard SATA port and not to the RAID controller or an HBA.

On a PERC H-series controller (The S series are SW RAID)  the drive is in RAID mode and cannot be changed to AHCI.

Ah ok makes sense, so I'm just with ATA?

Well... in the strict sense of things you would only benefit from AHCI if you were mixing your SSD with mechanical drives... with just that SSD AHCI might even be detrimental for the life of your drive
