My Battlestation

Manmangler
Go to solution Solved by Manmangler,

Time to update this thread. I have buying stuff after last post.

Nowdays I have added two 8 TB HDD's and MSI Suprim RTX 4090 24 GB.

I buyed some stuff from Black friday. I already have

  • Fractal Design Define 7 - ATX CASE
  • Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black CPU cooler
  • Asus TUF Gaming 1000W ATX - PSU
  • Corsair MP600 CORE XT 4 Tt M.2 NVME drive
  • 2 x Kingston FURY Renegade 2 Tt M.2 NVME Drive

Still waiting these

  • AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU
  • MSI PRO X670-P WIFI ATX MOBO
  • Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000 MHz CL40 64 Gt - RAM Kit

Sorry not english speaker as native.

Little backgroung for PC build. I has many computer, but those where old. Like Gaming PC I7 3770k, 24 GB Ram, GTX 1070, kingston sata ssd 480, 3 TB HDD. HTPC I7 2600k, 16 GB ram, 2 x R9 390, kingston sata ssd 480, 3 TB HDD. Office PC I7 2600, 8 GB ram, R9 290. I'll try PCIe M.2 nmve adapter for Samsung SSD NVMe MZVPV256HDGL-00000. It work only as storage drive, not boot drive. It was clear I need new hardware.

So when Ryzen 3000 game out, I buyed R7 3700x, Asus PRIME X570-P, 2 x 8 GB Kingston DDR4 3200 CL 16 memory and Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB. I build that computer to older case with old Corsair 650 watt and GTX 1070. I buyed 4 TB HDD for older games. I have one Acer 1920 x 1200 display 24", Samsung 27" FullHD display and BenQ 23" Fullhd. I was pretty happy. CPU was rocking and games where running "fine". I have Creative Xfi Fatality Platinum + Creative 5.1 sound system. Problem was that sometimes Windows Updates will lose audio for Several months and I have to use Gpu + Samsung 27" built in speakers.

I get tired old PC-case, so I bueyd something I could get that day (Mine, now, not tomorrow). I get SilverStone Redline RL06.

Now I get new case, Cpu, Ram, Mobo, SSD, HDD and old Displays, PS, Gpu.

I activate my 3 months GamePassUltimate. Weirly I have bueyd many games from sales, like Crackdonw 3 (I know what you think), Halo Master Chief Collection, Forza Horizon 3/4, Forza 7, Dead Rising 4 (I have all others in steam), Gears of War 1 and 4 etc... I wont use GamePassUltimate after all bueyd will expire (I has several months of xbox Gold so..). I have even buy games from Epic game store (Control, Watchdogs 2, Far Cry Primal etc), so I will not only take freepies.

Then I saw  one Linus Tech Tips video.

Then it HIT ME. Full case, but all games installed, Gaming Battlestation.

I start removing older system drives and installing windows for those older 2 x 120 GB and 1 x 60 GB sata SSD's.

So my Battlestation was:

Cpu: R7 3700x

Mobo: Asus Prime x570-p

Ram:2 x 8 GB Kingston DDR4 3200 MHz cl 16

Gpu: Asus Gtx 1070

Os Drive: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB m.2 Nvme

2 x 480 GB Kingston Sata SSD

2 x 3 TB HDD

1 x 4 TB HDD

I installed 980 Games from uPlay, Steam, Origin, GoG, Epic Game Store, Wargaming Net, Rockstar Launcher, Betsheda Launcher, etc...

2020-02-04.jpg.c9e264c0d9b039688e8b15ca5c5568e3.jpg

I use GoG Galaxy 2 Beta to launch those... So it is main UI

I have Xbox one (Buy used with kinect and two controllers). So I used my Xbox one controller via USB cable.

I have Xbox 360, Xbox, Ps2, PS3 and PS4 controller (No console for this).

There was one problem, I was not happy Fallout 4 performance. So I added that PCIe adapter with Samsung 256 GB Nvme drive. Installed fresh install of Fallout 4 for it. Make setting to Nexus Mod Manager (Yep I will not use Vortex). Mod will be downloaded to 4 TB HDD. I dont trust those old 3 TB HDD last long...

Black Friday I buyed 4K display, not best, but cheap BenQ (I dont like black levels and no backligth on/off certain areas as same time). I has basic level HDR. Now I hit problems, no 4K bluray drive and GTX 1070 is good enough 4K). So saturday morning I post sell PC parts in one finnish forum. I get buyers for I5 3570k, I7 2600, I7 2600k, I7 3770k, 4 MoBos, bunch of memory, Several Power Supplies, R9 390 and R 290. Some buyer will come and pay at that weekend for computer parts. Now I know I have money for expenses of end of month. So Cyber Monday I buy Palit Gamerock RTX 2080 Super. Then I sell my GTX 1070.

Now I have entry level 4K gaming (Turn of AA and other image blurring things). I get 55 - 60 in Assasins Creed Odyssey max setting in 4K (Except AA and blurring things). It will go over 60, But I have to limit it because Gsync will get hickups for that.

Here rise problems again. 16 GB memory is not enough, if using Youtube video in one display and play games like Watcdog 2 in 4k. I buyed another set of 2 x 8 kingston. Installing ram. Booting and Coolers will run highest RPM, no no BIOS initialized. Starting troubleshooting. I can it boot with 3 Ram sticks. There was on Ram stick which was bad. It wont boot even iny that one. So I returned those new Ram sticks and get new ones. Now 4 x 8 GB will work fine.

I will give away my 27" Samsung display for free. Testing surroung with 23", 24" and 4K displays (Lowered resolution in 4K display and Acer 1920 x 1200). I do not have car or driving license in real life, so bad driving.

I buy 4k BluRay external Drive and Wireless Adapter for Xbox One Controllers.  I install Power DVD 14. I have Humble Bundle for Paint Shop Pro, Several Free Video editing software, Blender, MSoffice 365 for school. So Software side is good. There was problem, I need upgrade PowerDVD 19 to  play 4k blurays. My Flystick and Steering wheels are old. So no go Forza. Windows will regonize but game wont. I feel that I need speed for Forza games loading. Today I buyed Intel 1024 GB m.2 NVME SSD.

Ram:4 x 8 GB Kingston DDR4 3200 MHz cl 16

Gpu: Palit RTX 2080 Super.

Os Drive: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB m.2 Nvme
