Hdmi vs optical for blu ray movies

Hi guys! My setup is: tv lg55 inch, pc whit sound card creative sound blaster x-fi 5.1 pro surround, and bar yamaha yas 207... Im using my tv only like a monitor to my pc. So... I need to know how to connect my bar, to get best soud in bluray movies and videos? My soundcard dont have hdmi input, but have optical.

HDMI would be best. It offers more support for the latest audio standards, like lossless audio. If you pass the signal through the new soundbar via HDMI, then use the ARC HDMI port on your TV you can get the best sound that you can. This screenshot from the Yamaha's manual might help.

Thanks. But what about my soundcard creative x-fi pro surround 5.1? I can take her from pc??

its not needed if your not going to use it for headphones. hdmi will take care of the audio

One more question . Hdmi cable should I connect to the video card and  soundbar?
