How much of an improvement is an aftermarket cooler?

Leychee

I made a post yesterday about my temperatures, tldr I'm at around 50C idle and 92-95C at a 100% load with Aida with a R5 2600, 3 intake fans and 2 exhaust, stock CPU fan.

I decided to buy the Noctua NH-D15S and some thermal paste (MX2), because the one I had dried out.

What would be my estimated idle temp with that new fan and thermal paste? Also, is it silent?

Thanks.

Why would you ever care about idle temps ? Load temps will decrease significantly of course but that cooler is overkill for R5 2600, get smth like Arctic eSports 34 \ CM Hyper 212 ~30$ or Scythe Fuma 2 for 50$ (which is overkill too but it's cheap overkill).

Don't bother with paste. D15 comes with NT-1 which is premium thermal paste. One tube is good for 2-3 installs. Idle will drop, but thats not important. You probably have current high "idle" as its not actually idle, or fan curve is set to activate when CPU hits 55C or something like that. The high temps on load are bit over what I would have expected from stock cooling, but can be because of auto-OC or some other reason for voltages to be more than needed.

Update! Installed my cooler, I'm now at 30C idle and 50C at full load, from 50C idle and 85/90 at full load.

Pretty huge improvement!
