1080p 144hz or 1440p 144hz

NotMrTaco
Go to solution Solved by Sorenson,

I’m using a 2070 super and I would definitely go with the 1440p 144hz and a VA or IPS panel with at least 300 nitts of brightness.

Every game I play is running maxed and looks great. The worst FPS I get is around 67 in Final fantasy XV with everything maxed (this is the most demanding game I own).

I will be getting an rtx 2070 super soon, yes I know 5700xt aib cards are coming out, but I do not know when those will come out, so this is why I am going nvidia as I am on a tight schedule to get my computer parts, with trump imposing his new tariffs on parts. I'm trying to save some money, and yes I know if you're spending around $540 on your graphics card you should be spending a good chunk of change on your monitor as well, but I do not necessarily care much about the monitor as long as it works. I'm debating whether its worth spending the extra hundred dollars to get a bigger screen 24inch vs 27inch and higher resolution. I have linked 3 monitors below, two of them seem to be similar, just that one has a VA panel rather than a TN. Which one would you recommend?

1440p 144hz. good balance between sharpness and smoothness. either 2070 or 5700 won't have any problem running 1440p.

What is your CPU? As it plays bigger role when talking about high refresh rates. I would suggest to go straight to 1440p, As even at 1080p you will not be getting the 144hz in many titles (not talking about CSGO etc.) and the addition of extra detail and bigger screen will be much more enjoyable

1080p. Unless the games being played are more for looks than performance.

Only a few games i can play at 1440 and the FPS drop won’t bother me as much as seeing clearer.
