Display port adapter issues

Right so I used to only have one monitor which I would game on using HDMI to connect it to my PC, however recently I have purchased a second monitor and as my graphics card only has one HDMI slot and 2 DP slots I had to connect the second monitor via HDMI (as it did not have a DP port) and the initial first monitor via DP. Randomly no matter what I am doing the DP will randomly disconnect and turn the initial monitor black, however it still acts as if the monitor is there as all programs open on this monitor do not switch to the secondary monitor. I then have to keep unplugging and re plugging this to create a temporary fix and use the monitor again. Please does anyone have a fix for this?! I will leave system specs below.

PC;

MSI Nvidia 1070ti GPU - 1 HDMI port, 2 DP ports, 1 DVI port

i7-8700 CPU

16GB RAM

256 SSD

550W PSU

Monitor 1:

144hz Refresh rate

1ms Response time

1 HDMI port

1 DP port

1 DVI port

1920x1080 resolution

Monitor 2:

BenQ ZOWIE RL LCD

60Hz Refresh rate

2 HDMI ports

1 DVI port

Go to Nvidia Control Panel and set the "set up multiple displays"

Use monitor #1 with DP or DVI to get 144hz, and monitor #2 with HDMI since it's only 60hz (or is that what you're doing?) Also try updating drivers if you haven't already

All drivers are up to date, what you said is already what I am doing and the same issue still occurs.

Strange... Try Display Driver Uninstallerand completely re-install clean drivers perhaps, also could you try different cables? those are the only things i know could be the problem
