Something on my computer is corrupting .7zip files (I think)

Hello!

Last week I installed Windows 10 from my old HDD to a new SSD. For the most part I don't have issues, but when I went to download mods for Euro Truck Simulator 2, I ran into a problem. I downloaded the the mods which are .7z files and then when extracting them with 7Zip I get this data error, every single time. I have tried older versions of 7Zip and I've tried WinRAR also but to no avail.

This morning I had a great idea. Why don't I use some other computer, in this case my school laptop with Windows 7, to extract the mods to one of my external hard drives, and then move them over to my desktop. Extracting went well with no errors on the laptop but when I connected my external drive to my desktop, it got "bricked". I cannot open the drive as I get a message saying "Invalid parameter". I had movies and series which I had downloaded on the drive that are now gone.

Can anyone help? It would mean a lot.

Thank you.

What do you mean by 'this data error' exactly?

75% of what I say is sarcastic

So is the rest probably

Sounds like:

  • Your anti-virus is at work removing what it detected as unsafe.
  • Your are missing your SATA controller driver / chipset drivers.

While extracting with 7Zip I got a "content error" (don't know what it is in English) and WinRAR said there was a checksum error.
