Decision help

Jayvee3492

Hello all, i need help deciding which monitor to get. currently i have a gtx1060 which i plan on upgrading soon. i currently just play dota 2.

my choices are https://www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MAG271CQR

or https://www.asus.com/ph/Monitors/VG279Q/

The asus is $100 cheaper in my location.

Asus is 1080p IPS 144hz

MSI is 1440p 144hz VA

The main use for the monitor im getting is for Dota 2 and watching netflix/movies

Im also open for new monitor suggestions just please keep it on the same price range.

bonus question, doesnt need to be answered. will i get the same fluidity on the 144hz monitor im getting as a smart tv?

Thank you!

I personally try to stay away from VA pannles. I would go with the Asus monitor for sure. In Dota the Jungle on the VA would be darker than it already is lol.

Also TV vs Monitor, Monitor will pretty much always win. They are designed for it! 144hz Gaming is life-changing, and you just don't go back to slower after it.

Ohh ok. Thought the jump to 1440p will be worth it.

my question about the comparison to TV is about netflix not gaming. When i watch netflix on a smart tv, will i get the same fluidity on the 144hz when watched thru a pc? Thanks

Yep! also the jump to 1440p is nice, but not worth it if the panel is VA. The colors are really bad IMO. Its also not worth if you have an old GPU. It will add more stress on it.
