New all rounder PC with future upgradability and Overclockability

samiryadav

Hi,

I am from India and here for advice for a new CPU which is:-

1.Mid to moderately high in Budget.

2.Option of future upgrades

3.Can be overclocked.

4.Has all round performance.(i play games 1 -2 times a month only)

I am looking for a CPU that can handle:-

1.Day to Day desktop use.

2. Ocassional gaming,

3. Softwares like : -Autocad,Catia,MATLAB etc

4. Programming, etc. learning.

I already have the following components:-

1.Cabinet : -  Coolermaster MB510L

2.Corsair vengence  LPX   2 x 8GB DDR4 @ 3000Mhz

3.PSU :- Corsair CX650M 650W 80+ bronze certified power supply.

4.Monitor : - Samsung IPS 24 inch 1080p .i will use single monitor at the moment.but after few months i will get another one.Max 2 monitors is what i will be using.

5.SSD : - Samsung 860 EVO 250GB.

6.HDD : - 4TB seagate Ironwolf.

I am looking for  : -

1.Processor. : - Intel or  AMD Ryzen ...i am confused  (between i5-8600k  ,  i5-9600k  , Ryzen 5 2600X , Ryzen 7  2700X  others.)

2.Motherboard :- A good mid to moderately high budget compatible Motherboard that can support future processors for Ryzen 3000 series. (should i choose x470 or b450 chipset or something else?? )

3.GPU:- at the moment i want to spend most of my money on a good processor and motherboard and i will upgrade to RTX 2060 or something similar later in few months.Right now i need a GPU to start with.A cheap one that can run 1080p monitor.

4 Processor Cooler :- Air cooler / liquid cooler or stock cooler ? i am confused.i will not be overclocking from the first day.

i will really appreciate input for this build.they must work with my already in hand components.

Should i choose AMD Ryzen 7 or 5 or should i go for Intel 9th gen i5 ?

My budget for above 4 components( Processor , MB , a very cheap gpu and a processor cooler.)  is : -50000 INR  approx : - 700 USD

1. Since your not doing much gaming Ryzen cpu with lots of cores should be your choice. R7 2700x.

2. Boards with x470 usually catered to better overclocking (more vrms, expensive component etc), if no OC, B450 would be just as good.

3. Get a used RX580, it should game perfectly on 1080. RTX2060 is just too much.

4. No need for extra coolers for Ryzen, the included heatsink OC just fine.

But since you capped the budget to 700:

- R7 2700x ($300), or cheaper 2600 ($170) - you only loose 2 cores for half the price.

- x470 motherboard ($200) or B450 motherboard ($100)

- RX580 ($150 used, $230 new)

If you're not in urgent, wait for june - august for amd to release its 3rd gen.

There will be massive boost in term of core count and max speed.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

Thankyou for your input.I really appreciate it.

Yes it is kind of urgent as i have already committed my old CPU to someone.

And i will definitely upgrade to Ryzen 3rd gen if they are worth it. :)

since i will be using CAD software and it is not feasible for me to get a CAD certified GPU like Nvidia Quadro etc,

i was planning to get a good graphics card after few months like RTX 2060.

Is there any better option for me than getting a RTX card?

Initially i was thinking to get a cheap GPU to start with and upgrade later in the year.

The RX580 avaiable in 8gb, so if the program favors more of the vram count, get this.

You can definitely go for 2060, much bigger horsepower, but less vram.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

If you want to upgrade anyways consider 1st Gen ryzen to start with. I know Indian pricing is fuked up so maybe a 1600 for now and a decent b450 board plus a rx470/480 570/580 used

thanks for your input.currently my budget allows me to get a 2700x @ 28000 INR , a good B450 mobo @ 12000 INR and 10000 for a GPU.

So , i believe there is no reason i should go with a first gen Rygen.

Instead of first gen ryzen i can get a good Z390 chipset and i5-9600k.(it has GPU so i will not need any additional GPU and later i will buy a RTX / quadro GPU)

If you can i would try to see if you can get a used GTX 1080 for this budget, i've seen them going for $350 USD used, and if you can get one it's about the same speed as an RTX 2070, and has 8gb of VRAM

But the 2060 is still a fine card, just not the best value right now imo

you are right, that is the reason i will wait few months until these new cards have better availability and better price once the market saturates.

Then i will get one.

That is the reason right now i want to spend most of my money on processor +  mobo + cooler.

So any input on which mobo i should get with a ryzen 7 2700x ?

I would go for an Asus Prime X470 Pro, It has good power delivery

The best overclocking boards on intel's side are the Asrock Taichi,

I'm not sure how well they carry over to the AMD side,

I have a Asrock Fatal1ty X470 K4, it's a great board, but it lacks advanced overclocking features, but with everything on auto, it does boost well. But I got it for less than $130 so i really can't complain

Yes, i loved your idea about getting a used RX580 to start with.

But it is very hard to get a used one in India.

I am getting a Asus strix 6GB OC  GTX 1060  @ 15000 INR  approx 208 USD with 2 years manufacturer's warranty.

Is it worth getting a GTX 1060 at this price?

Aren't there miners in india?

You can buy it from one of the sellers in ebay, it goes from $100, plus shipping to india it should be cheaper than buying new.

$200 for 1060 6gb is a good price.

The GTX 1060 is pretty old at this point, the 480/580/590 are all the same card with different clock-speeds so the RTX cards are really the only new cards, the 1060's were around $250 new, so I think the AMD options are a little better value especially used after the mining crash

$200 for 1060 6gb is a good price.

Custom duty/Import duty  on electronics / computer components is whooping  48 %.

i Don't think importing it using ebay is a feasibility.

i will keep looking for something locally.

in India most graphics cards are way expensive.GTX 1060 6GB is around 350 USD at the moment.

cheapest RX580 Sapphire RX 580 8GB GDDR5 Pulse OC is around  19500 INR  approx 273 USD
