on a quest for silence… I'm using an older be quiet ( 2013 ) which is almost at zero decibels.. Maybe you had the luck of running into a slightly defect pure power model?

In my experience Corsair AX series PSUs are completely silent as long as you have enough wattage headroom. It's an older series of fully modular 80+ Platinum PSUs that all feature zero RPM fan mode. They come with 7-year warranty and (I believe) are manufactured by Seasonic. I've used the AX860 for 4+ years now and have no complaints.

Disclaimer: Only do this if you know what you're doing, you'll not only void your warranty, you also risk being electrocuted!

Lots of PSU use rather crappy fans, but you can swap them out for other ones. My seasonic PSUs fan was one of the crappy ones with a very audible bearing, so I switched it out to a 140mm Fractal Design case fan and soldered its leads to the PSUs fan header. Now it's inaudible and runs nice and cool.
