2600X default voltage too high?

I have a 2600X with a Asrock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming K4. With the settings on auto (default) it boosts up to 4.21ghz on all cores and 1.44v. Is that normal?

When I try to manually set values, the board has only a Svid setting and not an actual core voltage setting. I tried to use a -0.050v voltage offset but it crashed after intense gaming.

stock always pushes voltages way to high, AMD and intel. .5v is way to much. try -0.25v. That will bring you into a better level of where you should be stable.

The board only allows me to set an offset of -0.050v and -0.100v ? Both crashed, 0.050 last longer though... Unless the crash w asn't die to voltage but it probably was.

There should be an option to set the voltage since your board supports overclocking.

As you can see it says VID, hm...not svid like I was saying. The default is 1.18750v. I can set it to 1.7500v but if it crashed with a 0.050v offset won't it crash by doing that too?

Doing that only gives options: Auto, Cinebench R15, Cinebench other something, and another thing similar to Cinebench. There's no Manual.

 

I have already changed the voltage (VID) from 1.18750V to 1.7500v and it made it boost only up to 1.437v, which is already better than 1.44v ?

reading the description of the VID, that does sound like its your core voltage. Try setting it to 1.2v and see if its stable.

But 1.2v is higher than the default 1.1850v, why would I do that? I have set now 1.17500v and it boosts to 1.437v

Btw Hwinfo says Core Voltage (SVI2 TFN), I don't know if it means something...

Thats fine. Core voltage reports weird. It will be just fine to set it to 1.25v and be done. It shouldnt fluctuate from that.

It's weird because here I can see different UEFI  settings, looks like Asrock changed this in more recent bios? I have the most recent one.

Very possible they did. I would think though that the SVID is your CPU Core Voltage. The description listed to the right also backs up this.

But it seems not to work, I have reduced the default 1.18750v to 1.15v and it now boosted to 1.45v while benchmarking For Honor. So weird.

It’s the correct setting, is your BIOS up to date?

Yes, most recent bios. The older ones I see on youtube have more common settings like Vcore and Asrock setting. Here I have under performance boost: Auto, Cinebench R15, Cinebench R11 and Geekbench. I don't even know what those do and what's the difference between them.

I just decided to leave it all at default auto.

Hey guys so I found the solution. I disabled "core performance boost" in the bios, which disables that horrible XFR. Now the voltage stays true to that VID value I input, doesn't go up in spikes anymore! I don't understand why anyone would use XFR, it's complete garbage with those INSANELY high volatges, maybe AMD's idea is: if we kill the CPU we will buy a new one therefore give them more money? ?

I'm not testing 4.0Ghz with 1.125v. What is the average voltage for 4.1Ghz? I'll be using the stock cooler at least until january.

Max voltage is 1.45v so pushing to 1.44v isn't that bad. My 2700X will pull 1.5v sometimes, but so long as your temps are good it should be fine. If you're not happy with it then just do what you did, knock down the voltage and OC manually, disabling the boost feature.

I was getting 1.46v just loading chrome and gaming even with a -50 offset...

I will do that for sure, already did... I had to due a similar thing with Intel with my 4670K. Everyone was praising the by then new Adaptive voltage, but Adaptive voltage was giving me voltage spikes under load. So what I did was using manual voltage with C-States, so the voltage will come down on idle but won't go up beyond set on load. Adaptive voltage is completely useless and has no reason to exist.

Now everyone is praising XFR, but it's really just a feature for dummies who don't want to touch any settings. 1.48 or 1.5v for 4.2Ghz is crazzy. Even if temps are ok I don't feel at ease with those voltages.

Hello. It's not easy to find, but it exists. Go to the Advanced tab, then AMD CBS, Core performace boost.
