hello, im using wordpress to build my first website and Im struggling to find a way to getting rid of these links by wordpress and another link set by the theme developer. I need to remove this to get some of my own details in there. I did alot of searching and all of them say its a very straight forward job like disabling it from an option in the Appearance > Customize. But i do not have any option for footers there. Then there was another suggestion to disable it using css, the given css codes did not work for me and I also saw that it is bad to do that due to SEO so i dont want to do it that way. The final option i saw was to edit a footer.php file inside the themes folder. im using a child theme and inside that there was no footer.php file. there was one in the parent theme but i did not see anything related to the wordpress links in that file. i found this other footer.php in wp-includes\theme-compat\ directory and that did have this code which was related to the wordpress link but deleting and saving that did not do anything to the footer. Some help to get this done would be very helpful. Thanks. <div id="footer" role="contentinfo"> <!-- If you'd like to support WordPress, having the "powered by" link somewhere on your blog is the best way; it's our only promotion or advertising. --> <p> <?php printf( /* translators: 1: Blog name, 2: WordPress */ __( '%1$s is proudly powered by %2$s' ), get_bloginfo( 'name' ), '<a href="https://wordpress.org/">WordPress</a>' ); ?> </p> </div> </div>

DON'T OPEN THE LINKS IN THE CODE SECTION For (insert unrelated reasons), I logged into an old / deprecated wordpress site of the business I work for that was abandoned years ago but never went offline and I found revisions dating a few months back done by an user with administrative priviledges which is completely unrelated to our business and is none of us. I have no idea how they got the credentials and created a new admin from nowhere. They apparently modified a couple pages (out of hundreds) with links or JS scripts... that are harmless? They are injecting CSS to make the links unreachable by human means. Am I missing something, or what's the point of all of this if nobody can even access the links? #1 <div id="jdGqtOTGYcBmpmzuU"><p><a href="https://schweiz-libido.com/kaufen-kamagra-ohne-rezept-schweiz/">schweiz-libido.com</a></p></div><script type="text/javascript">function mbsRMynmCHvRpg9(){var IBwP=document.getElementsByTagName('he'+'ad')[0];var rBVS='#jdGqtOTGYcBmpmzuU{z-index:296977153;left:-306562379px;display:block;position:fixed;margin:0px 20px;overflow:hidden;}';var u8tW=document.createElement('st'+'yle');u8tW.type='text/css';if(u8tW.styleSheet){u8tW.styleSheet.cssText=rBVS}else{u8tW.appendChild(document.createTextNode(rBVS))}IBwP.appendChild(u8tW)}mbsRMynmCHvRpg9();</script> #2 <div id="JwudYnVvgWQvGXRPvb1y5bG8"><p><a href="https://libido-portugal.com/cialis-generico-portugal/">libido-portugal.com</a></p></div><script type="text/javascript">function TKrAJtSkhs77Cd1C1ag(){var U2w=document.getElementsByTagName('hea'+'d')[0];var Ns3='#JwudYnVvgWQvGXRPvb1y5bG8{overflow:hidden;position:fixed;top:-91189088px;z-index:955774884;display:block;margin:0px 20px;}';var QUEe=document.createElement('st'+'y'+'l'+'e');QUEe.type='text/css';if(QUEe.styleSheet){QUEe.styleSheet.cssText=Ns3}else{QUEe.appendChild(document.createTextNode(Ns3))}U2w.appendChild(QUEe)}TKrAJtSkhs77Cd1C1ag();</script> Another link <a href ="https://it-frm.com/comprare-idrossiclorochina-online/" style="border-color: transparent; text-decoration: none; color: #111; font-weight: normal">it-frm.com/</a>

Summary Some pretty big news from the world of open-source software. WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, and TYPO3, the big four of the FOSS CMS world, have teamed up to send an open letter to EU legislators. They're worried about the EU's Proposed Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and how it could mess with the future of open-source platforms. They also held a public webinar/conference earlier today. Here is a link to their open letter. Quotes "The letter points out that, in its current form, the proposed regulations run the risk of reducing software security and undermining the EU’s core aims and values." "The primary contention is that the proposed CRA’s “commercial activity” definitions are unclear and problematic. The current non-commercial exemption in the proposed regulations fails to consider the intricate network of relationships underpinning FOSS and its roles in the digital economy." My thoughts This is a pretty big deal. Open-source software is a huge part of the digital economy, and these platforms are worried that the new regulations could put a damper on things. The fact that they're concerned about the future of platforms like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, and TYPO3 is something we should all be paying attention to. They're calling for a chat with the legislators, which I think is a great move. Let's hope it leads to some positive changes. I'm am very afraid that this will lead to open source contributors leaving the platforms they are contributing to, some on twitter are afraid this might lead to them being personally accountable. I was recently asked to look into a family friends website that was hacked. The initial issue was that the page had some JS inserted into the header which would clear the page and put up a fake captcha of cats which would redirect you to some gambling site. They ended up paying for a service to clean up all the fragments of code scattered all over the website (JS in the header, some PHP cron jobs on the sites back end and plenty more that I didn't get a chance to see before it was cleared). Obviously all associated passwords were changed when they realized it was highjacked and now that it has been cleared up I am in the process of going over the site to make everything is working properly and adding some content that they requested. But that is where I discovered something interesting and was wondering if anyone else has run into a similar type of situation and also how something like this would even be used by a less than scrupulous individual. What I noticed is that there was some traffic to some pages on the site that were in French and Dutch, while the rest of the site is in English and there is no reason for anything to be in any other language, so I decide to take a quick look. That is when I realized someone had posted over 1000 posts ( the rest of the site resides as a series of actual pages) made at the same exact time about a year ago. All of them related to gambling sites and online sports betting while being written in again a mix of French and Dutch. There was no way to navigate to these posts without knowing the exact URL for them, or at least knowing the date (YYYY/MM/DD) to add to the end of the main domain. It does not look like there much traffic to the posts but still seems rather strange if not a little bit of an interesting way to use a highjacked website. I am not really a web dev so maybe this is common but quick Google searches don't bring up anything of relevance so if anyone knows anything more about similar types of situations I would love to hear about and learn a bit more on the topic. My curiosity has been piqued after seeing this.

Summary LTT Sponsor, FreshBooks, leaves a publicly accessible AWS Storage bucket unsecured which contained database backups of their Wordpress website and easily crackable passwords giving an attacker access to modify live website content or more. Quotes My thoughts FreshBooks obtained a SOC 2 Type 1 certification just a few days after this leak was disclosed to them. How many of those 121 leaked passwords were reused by their staff on the administration side of their accounting platform? Hopefully FreshBooks investigated this and will publish a post mortem. Maybe this will be a topic for this week's WAN Show. Hello, I'm making a web-app-store but I can't seem to figure out a bit of custom code required to show the client paid for content and some other things. (JavaScript) Please keep in mind this is from an absolute noob perspective. I don't know any code or definitions beyond what || and && mean. I have a Wordpress page comparable to a Pokédex. It's supposed show a grayed out image of a pokémon for visitors but when someone aquires a license key from Gumroad it's supposed to show a swipeable image gallery. The code has to check for 2 licenses on Gumroad's servers. And as long as at least 1 is active, it has to show the image gallery. Here is Gumroad's explanation for checking a license: https://help.gumroad.com/article/76-license-keys curl https://api.gumroad.com/v2/licenses/verify \ -d "product_permalink=QMGY" \ -d "license_key=YOUR_CUSTOMERS_LICENSE_KEY" \ -X POST ^Here I have to fill in info about the product to check for. Then it gets back a response that looks like this, or a 404 error: { "success": true, "uses": 29, "purchase": { "seller_id": "kL0paVL1SdmJSYRNs-OCMg==", "product_id": "32-nPAinqpLj0B_WIwVlMw==", "product_name": "license product", "permalink": "testprod1", "product_permalink": "https://gum.co/testprod1", "email": "sample@example.com", "price": 0, "gumroad_fee": 0, "currency": "usd", "quantity": 1, "discover_fee_charged": false, "can_contact": true, "referrer": "direct", "card": { "bin": null, "expiry_month": null, "expiry_year": null, "type": null, "visual": null }, "order_number": 524459995, "sale_id": "FO8TXN-dvxYbBdahG97Y-Q==", "sale_timestamp": "2021-01-05T19:38:56Z", "purchaser_id": "5550311507811", "subscription_id": "GDzW4_NBdQy-o7Gjjng7lw==", "variants": "", "license_key": "85DB262A-C19D4B06-A5335A6B-8C079166", "ip_country": "India", "recurrence": "monthly", "is_gift_receiver_purchase": false, "refunded": false, "disputed": false, "dispute_won": false, "id": "FO8TXN-dvxYbBdahG97Y-Q==", "created_at": "2021-01-05T19:38:56Z", "custom_fields": [], "subscription_cancelled_at": "2021-02-05T20:09:27Z", "subscription_failed_at": null } } The conditional branch has to look for the succes = 'true' value, then it'll show the image gallery. Although, I don't know for sure if the succes value is for an active license or just for retrieving requested information. If refunded = true or succes = false it's supposed to be the grayed out image. I have 4 questions / problems: 1. How do I do the license check, let alone 2? Just paste it above the branch and the code as raw JavaScript on the gallery spot of the page? (I'm using a visual composer) 2. How do I connect the license check with the conditional branch or how do I pull info from that response? 3. Can I make it so only the paid for content gets retrieved from the server when the license is "ok"? (To prevent cache ripping or something like that.) 4. (Bonus) When you try to screenshot in your bank app, the screenshot is completely black. How do I do this? I came as far as putting this script on the page but it doesn't work: <span style="color: #1a1a1a;">if (e.keyCode == SYSQR) {</span> <span style="color: #1a1a1a;">filter:alpha(opacity=0);</span> <span style="color: #1a1a1a;">}</span> License checking script on page right now: <p>curl https://api.gumroad.com/v2/licenses/verify \ -d "product_permalink=QMGY" \ -d "license_key=YOUR_CUSTOMERS_LICENSE_KEY" \ -X POST </p> //Response from Gumroad's server comes here I guess, idk how to do this// if ('succes' = true) { echo <p>[vc_row][vc_column][us_image_slider ids="1868,432,87" css="%7B%22default%22%3A%7B%22background-image%22%3A%222237%7Cfull%22%2C%22background-position%22%3A%2225%25%22%2C%22background-size%22%3A%22cover%22%2C%22background-repeat%22%3A%22no-repeat%22%2C%22background-attachment%22%3A%22fixed%22%2C%22border-radius%22%3A%228px%22%7D%7D"][/vc_column][/vc_row]</p>; else if ('refunded' = true || 'succes' = false) { <p>[vc_row][vc_column][us_image image="607"][/vc_column][/vc_row]</p> } } Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone, I have been struggling to find out what exactly is causing this issue. I am setting up a wordpress.org website at home and it seems I'm running to a PHP problem so I'm curious if anyone has any insight at to what might be happening. I did already post a support topic over on WordPress but its not travel very much. Some things in this post are WordPress specific but I think this may be a PHP issue ultimately. I can not get past the step on connecting to the SQL database for setting it up for the first time. In the Debug log I get the following: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method wpdb::mysqli_connect() in E:\Website\wwwroot\wp-includes\wp-db.php:632 What is my Setup: Windows Server 2012 R2 IIS 8 Webserver PHP 8.0.11 Mysqlnd 8.0.11 WordPress 5.8.1 My SQL 8.0.26 What I have confirmed: •The Mysqli extension is enabled and ran a script on the site to show what's being loaded (php print_r(get_loaded_extensions());) •The Mysqli can connect to my database by using $conn = new mysqli(information goes here); •I do have full admin rights to the database on localhost •IIS Webserver has correct Modify permissions for the website directories and a Temp Directory •Other PHP code is executing as intended such as the examples above to confirm the webserver is able to do so. •wp-config.php has the correct login information •WP_USE_EXT_MYSQL argument does not exist in wp-config.php file What have I tired so far: •Restarting everything •Trying another fresh install •Switching to PHP 7.4 (stops at the same error) •Experimented with different code replacing line 632 in wp-dp.php with example code above $conn = If I could perhaps get some help with what exactly is going wrong or if it seems like I have not tried something. Thank you =)

So I have a wordpress site running in a docker container on my unraid NAS. I would like to be able to do 3 things: change the URL to my domain that I purchased from GoDaddy, be able to upload files to the website - for example, if I want to share a file with my friend I want to be able to put it on the website, and lastly I cannot upload the theme that I want because it is too big. I need to change the max upload size in php.ini. Is that possible?

First of all if I'm posting in the wrong Threads, please guide me as I couldn't find another for hosting advice. I'm trying to start a blog, I've looked at shared and VPS hosting providers, but as I'm a student I have access to AWS free tier as well as Google Cloud. I thinking of saving some money and using them to host my blog. I know I can install WordPress directly, but I would much prefer having a hosting like panel to manage and monitor things, install SSL, create emails for the domain, have a phpMyAdmin or similar a filemanager, etc. I read quite a bit on this and found out that I can use CyberPanel with OpenLiteSpeed Cache or Ajenti for doing it. I also looked at plesk obsidian(free web min version). But I don't really have any first hand experience with these and I have a few questions. 1. Will the panel I choose affect the speed of the website. Is cyberpanel better than ajenti or plesk because it offers OLS? 2. Will the distro I choose (ubuntu/centOS ) have an impact on the speed. 3. are these my only options or is there any better/faster panel that I can/should use? 4. which one of these 3 would you suggest keeping in mind that although I'm a total beginner I'm ready to learn if needed?

Hey all, hope this is the correct place in the form to post this kind of question. Just seeking some confirmation on using Categories, Tags & Attributes correctly when setting up Woo Store. In my example I will be selling Movies and Music. Within each of these will be genre and also format type (DVD, bluray, 4K.. ect) From my current understanding The structure should look something like this.. Parent Categories - Music - Movies Sub Categories of parents (Genre) - Action - Adventure - Crime - Ect… Tags - Actors - Region - Language - Ect.. Attributes - DVD - 4k - Ect… Does this sound correct? The confusing part was under which section Genre should fit into because they could also fit under tags or attributes I believe. The aim is to have one page with each respective parent category and the ability to refine the selection based on Genre and media format with Tags being searchable content. Thanks in advance for your help guys.

So poking around the interwebs, I found this interesting little info generator for any website you pop in: https://tinywow.com/web/detect . Wonderful as it is, I find it brings up a question as to what CMS means in this instance. The closest I can think of is a Content Management System. Is that correct? What exactly is going on here? I have theories but don't wish to speculate just yet.

I've setup an old PC I had lying around, sat it next to my router, plugged a monitor and a ethernet cable and set up teamviewer, minecraft server (not sure if this changes anything) and WAMP, I had also tried XAMPP, but I preffered WAMP as it had a more user-friendly interface. I continued installing software to make remote management possible, port forwarding and setting up wordpress and WAMP to work alongside each other. I have made it to then point where I have everything I want, except that I cannot access it unless I am on my home network. What do I do here? I have tried multiple ways to do this - Editing httpd.conf, httpd-vhosts.conf files as the first way, using wordpress plugins and changing wordpress url (not site url - i kept it as http://localhost for ease of access) Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm building a website using Wordpress for the first time and I'm trying to use this template called BC-Shop which is a child template. When I downloaded this, it wanted me to download a parent template called BC-Business-Consulting. Without this the BC-Shop template doesnt show up for activation. Once this parent template is downloaded, both templates appeared on themes and when I hit activate on the BC-Shop template and hit customize I'm getting the BC-Business-consulting template instead and theres no way of getting into the shop template I want. I do not want to use this Business consulting template as my aim is to build a Ecommerce site. I did some searching and I couldnt find anything helpful. So far the only thing I have done is edit the style.css and change the template to template: bc-shop and all this resulted was this error: The theme defines itself as its parent theme. Please check the Template header. I want to know how i can make this shop template as my main template to work on. Thanks.

Hello, im building my first website using wordpress and woocommerce plugin. Its an Ecommerce website and for the products I have created, I have assigned some tags. atm I have found that u can display these tags as a Product Tag Cloud widget in the sidebar. It gets displayed more like hyperlinks and when i click on them it displays the products that was assigned to this tag. I want to display these tags as checkboxes so the user can select multiple of these and view products of multiple tags at the same time. Is there an inbuilt feature which does this that I haven't noticed. Any support to achieve this would be very helpful.

Updating content of a Wordpress based website after hosting?
Shammikit posted a topic in Programming
Hello, and yes this is probably a noob question. This is the first time I'm building and going to host a website. So far I have installed Wordpress on my PC, hosted the site locally using Apache Web server and been doing the building of the site. What I'm building is a static web site with no logins, that will display a Catalog of products. I have been using woocommerce plugin to enter these products to the website and it then hit me, "how am I going to update/enter new products to my catalog after hosting this website?". If you use Bluehost for example, do u get the wordpress dashboard there when u login to bluehost so that u can make updates to the website? I did some googling and I didnt understand much on what they explain. I saw that when u host a website using bluehost, u get to integrate wordpress with it. Does that mean I get to sync the website related files from my pc with the ones at bluehost? so that when I made a change locally, it will be available at bluehost. I watched a few Youtube videos and what they integrate is a wordpress.com website. Im guessing as wordpress.com built websites are already online at wordpress, it can be updated through wordpress.com as well. If someone could explain the process to me (from the basics if u have the time) it would be very helpful to understand. Thank you.- 4 replies

Hello, I'm building an ecommerce site in wordpress, I selected a theme I liked and it all displayed nicely in the default settings. However, its default home page is for displaying blog posts and I'm not running a blog. I couldnt see any way to edit this page either, in a way that I can put the shortcodes of the Woocommerce plugin. So I made a static page and set that as my home page. After this the Tagline and the Site Title shown in the header image was gone and now, it only shows the page title ("Home"). I would like to display the Site Title and Tagline as before. Is there any setting I should look to achieve this. So far I couldnt find anything to get it there. Should some custom CSS need to be written to get this? If so it would be very helpful if u could guide me on how to do it as this is the first time I'm building a website. Thank you.

Hey guys, I had a though the other day and wondered if it’s possible to have more than one Raspberry Pi as a web server, and one or more "clones" with the exact same website as backup sites? You could have one Pi at home and another at work or at a friends house for example. So that in case of a fire or theft example and one of the Raspberry Pi’s are down, then the other Pi would automatically take over and keep the site up. Thanks for any ideas or tips:)
