Hey everyone! My friends and I are working on a program for our boy scout troops that allows us to play among us in an irl setting. We've already decided that it's going to be a mobile game, with qr codes for tasks and sabotage fixes, and using bluetooth for killing (Crewmates are beacons, impostors are readers, beacon in proximity allows the kill button to the person that is nearby, kill button sends data to server, server sends kill message to dead crewmate). If you have any advice or tips, that'd be great! Cheers!

So I have used a pre-built that an relative bought me out of the blue for the past 5 years or so and it affect my gaming because I've been in college and haven't and the time for it anyway. I now have the time and want to make a build so have been looking around for awhile but need some held. I like heavy duty graphics games and hosting various things. I have dual monitor setup(https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27gl63t-b-gaming-monitor) and very nice peripherals that my current PC just can't utilize. I have my mind kind of set on the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER as the graphics card but can be swayed to another. I want to be able to upgrade in the future so expansion is important to me. I'm trying to keep to a budget of $1400(USD) but I could go up to $1600 if there's a good case for the parts that get me there. I would love to discuss and definitely need to learn as much as possible but let the fun begin!

Foxconn is planning to build a display manufacturing plant in the US after acquiring Sharp. The value of the plant may exceed $7 billion dollars and would create about 50,000 jobs. They are still looking at the best location for building such a plant, so far their main choice is Pennsylvania, after Foxconn had a holiday party over there. But it's not finalized yet, and other states can still submit their best offer with Foxconn. http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-foxconn-could-build-display-plant-in-united-states-2017-1

So I want to get a new monitor that I can add for a dual monitor setup but as I am moving to the UK at the end of the summer I want to know if there will be any problems. I know that TVs have an issue, something with different wavelengths or inputs and whatnot but I don't foresee any issue with a monitor. The only thing that would have to change is the cable to plug into the UK ports. The US uses 120V and the UK is 240V but I don't see that as an issue or something I can really do much about, power supplies on PCs can do both so why not monitors? So will the power delivery thing be more of an issue and are there any other things to think about? Thanks! This is the monitor I am looking at getting http://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-27-led-hd-monitor-black/4753004.p?skuId=4753004

source: https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/16pdf/15-1189_ebfj.pdf via: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/legal/lexmark-loses-supreme-court-case-users-can-sell-refurbished-ink-cartridges/ this "debate" corporation vs refurbishing is rather old and it stretches through the history ever since patent law (15th century) in this particular case, the basic idea is that Lexmark opposed sale of refurbished cartridges and claimed Impression Products not only violated patent law but also contract law what happened? Impression bought used cartridges, refurbished and refilled them and offered them for sale - Lexmark went berserk, as expected, and sued on March 21 the case reached the Supreme Court and it was up to them to rule on whether US law surrounding patent exhaustion allows post-sale restrictions and if sales of a patented article outside of the US on March 30th, the Supreme Court ruled 8-0 in favor of Impression Products: the decision will go down in history and will affect all future sale of refurbished cartridges and will put a stop on future similar litigations from corporations like Lexmark corporations like Lexmark sold printers at a low cost knowing end-users will pay more from sale of new cartridges; entities like Impression Products bought the used cartridges, refurbished and refilled them and then sold them at a much lower price than a Lexmark new cartridge but there are implications for US' Supreme Court ruling that will also affect other fields like automotive industry, medical equipment, agricultural equipment

It's been a really long time since I've done any mobile gaming. 'Mobile gaming' not in the sense of smartphone games, but rather any type of portable consoles like the DS lineup from Nintendo. The last time I've taken part in portable gaming was more than 6 years ago with the release of the Nintendo DSi. I quite enjoyed the experience and found the design of the DS to be interesting and unique. Later I sold it on my local Craigslist because I wasn't using it as much, but that's a different story. Later even, I started building computers, found this community, then started gaming more on the PC. Now my interest in Nintendo has sparked again after the recent release of Pokémon Sun/Moon. That got me thinking, I've missed out on such DS exclusives as: Mario Kart 7, Legend of Zelda, Monster Hunter, Fire Emblem, and many others. Surely as a gamer I should do my civil duty and experience these as well? That led me to spend some time researching the best skew of portable console and weigh my options. I found that the old DSi was replaced by the 3DS, and now it seems that as of about 2 years ago the 3DS was also improved upon with the release of the 'New' 3DS. Also worth mentioning are the 3DS XL and 2DS (but I'm not terribly interested in those). So I decided to see where I could purchase the 'new' 3DS from (retailers/ resellers) and what the current prices were. THIS is where I'm running into some issues. It seems that (in the US/NA at least) the "regular sized" 'new' 3DS can only be purchased as part of a package like the Animal Crossing thing that comes with the game and some funny looking covers among other things. Q: Can the "regular sized" 'new' 3DS be purchased as one piece (not part of a package) in the US/NA? Then this also got me thinking: The 'new' 3DS is pushing 2 years now and there is the chance that another revision is in the works. As a PC enthusiast it isn't too surprising that I'm a no-compromises kinda guy. Q: Should I wait for what's next? Q: Are alternatives to portable gaming worth looking into? I like the Idea of carrying around a Razer Blade, but the skew I want is pushing $2000 (not really an option) As always: I'll try to watch this thread closely and reply/ answer questions as the discussion goes on.

I'm upgrading my PC when I return home sometime around October this year and the 7700K is on my parts list. Newegg just put it on sale for US$309 (Down from $349) and the sale ends in a day or two. How well do CPUs hold their prices and are discounts like this rare? I'm not read up on the current cycle so is there another chip releasing that will cause the price to fall even more in the next three or four months? I'm trying to decide if I should buy it now and hold on to it until my build or wait around and see if it's a better deal when I actually go to build. Thoughts?

Hi I'm looking for a new monitor as a Christmas gift and since i don't know much about the monitors out there i decided to ask for help here. the person im buying from doesnt like 1440p since he says its too much space especially when web browsing but does like the size of 27in or around there like 25-28. he also likes color accuracy over gaming performance since he has been using a old HP ips with glossy finish and doesn't like how matte finish don't make the colors stand out as much. i was thinking that the best option would be to buy from ebay since they sell really good looking monitors there that are just repurposed displays with basic connectors in the back for cheap. i don't know much about those displays or ever used them and don't know how to trust it so i'm asking for help any and all answers are greatly appreciated. Also This is $250 US as stated in the title i can give a bit more if needed but don't wanna go way over or avoid going over if i can. Thanks for any and all answers in advance btw it doesn't have to be just ebay either that was just one option.

So, my mom is coming from the US, where she lives, to India, where I live. I am transporting a: Ryzen 5 3600 RX 5600XT 16GB of TForce Vulcan RAM A WD 1TB HDD and AsRock B550M motherboard I am buying the PSU, Case and SSD in my own country. I already am going for this build, but it is being transported on an international flight all the way to India, and my mom is not really knowledgeable on computers, so I would love some recommendations or maybe something I should buy in my own country, so that all my parts come safe and sound, without being confiscated accidentally by the TSA. I know how to handle customs here, that is not a problem for me, but I am scared about the TSA confiscating my GPU, which would be devastating financially. How do you all handle the TSA, and what all data do I need to give my mom?

So it looks like Spotify has hit its peak for some reason while Apple Music is still growing, also for some reason, lol. But ranked first in what? Number of songs? Number of happy subscribers? Number of users more likely to like Rick Astley? idk. Lets not lose our sense of reality though So yes, Spotify is still popular world wide, Apple music is only just making a dent. This is very important, you need users who are actively using your platform. Having users is great but if they aren't paying and or listing to ads you aren't making money. A problem that Apple Music seems to have less of. I'm actually pretty interested in knowing how many subscribers Apple has gotten from their Android app. That probably helped their US market share a good bit but I'm still a little puzzled. As far as I know Apple Music is still riddled with a bunch of bugs that kinda break the experience for a lot of users but it would appear that they either don't come up all that often or happen so infrequently that nobody is noticeably affected by it. Or I guess the bugs could have been patched. What music streaming service do you guys use, if any? Source: https://www.cultofmac.com/560041/apple-music-overtakes-spotify-us/

Well this truly sucks, I needed some repair parts for my Merlin SM8 and now because of their bankruptcy and retailer's buying out their inventory I can not easily source the front I/O parts I need. https://www.overclock.net/forum/380-case-labs/1705596-official-caselabs-will-closing-down.html I am though getting off lightly, it looks like they do not even have the liquidity to fulfill all of their order obligations
