Summary As I understand it, Lamptron is mass reselling the AIDA64 software as the core component of their products, but they never actually bought the keys they are “reselling”. A discovery that is causing issues for many distributors now they know about it and maybe customers too. Quotes My thoughts Based on what was said in the video, it sounds like everyone who has bought and used on of the many Lamptron products could face legal issues if they now learn of this, or simply figured it out on their own. I find it very interesting that a company can keep doing such an illegal activity at such a scale for so long, while putting anyone they distribute through at major risk of legal trouble. Sources

Steve from Gamers Nexus has just reviewed Nvidia's new RTX 4070-Super. In the benchmarks he states that GTA V is still included because it still scales on modern cards. If you ask me, this near-decade old game still being demanding can only mean that GTA VI will probably be one of the most demanding games ever released. With performance on GTA V still this relevant and demanding, I wonder just how low the FPS will go in GTA VI. Im sure even my Radeon RX 7900-XTX will have a hard time pushing triple-digit FPS at my 3440x1440p resolution with a mix of High and Ultra settings. Just something random to think about

Well talk about the biggest tease in gaming history... Me: Hears GTA VI trailer has been uploaded to the official RockStar Gaming YT Channel Me: Goes "Hell Ya, Welcome to a New Era of Gaming People!" Me: Watches the trailer in awe at the insanely good graphics and realism despite the size of the world. Me: Sees "Coming in 2025" at the end of the trailer Me: "F*** You Rockstar" So apparently we have probably about 18 months to go. Well, at least it looks very promising.

Hi everyone, Sorry for the rant in advance but I need to get this out about the horrific treatment I have had at the hands of Logitech. I ordered my Nephew a Yeti streamer bundle for his birthday tomorrow. The site stated standard shipment was next Business day. Since I ordered it Friday I said fine, Hopefully Monday it will Ship. Wednesday came around and no update. I got onto the help chat and I was told It would ship same day. This took an hour of waiting. I was also made to give my number and assured I would be called by their manager for an update. I had asked to cancel my order but they informed me they only have a 30 minute cancellation policy. Thursday came around, no call, no email, no update. I got back onto them. I tried to call Logitech Ireland first (because I'm Irish) and their customer service switch board does not accept inputs. As in it says to press 1-5 for different options. But pressing the numbers does nothing. And unlike most systems it does not auto send you to a CX agent it just loops the menu. The only phone line I found that works for all of EU is Switzerland. (Keep in mind I tried, England,France, Spain, Germany and Italy). When I had navigated through the menu I was sent to the American call centre. After 2 hours of being swapped back and forth on hold I was informed. There is no Customer service centre for sales issues anywhere. I was also told they could only resolve issues for the US and Canada. When I asked to speak with a manger to ask why it took 2 hours to tell me this info I was informed that as I was not a customer from the US or Canada I was not allowed to speak with management. I then went back to the text chat while I was on hold. After 45 minute wait I was told Logitech have a 30 minute cancellation policy and are not required to give refunds after this 30 minutes. This is very confusing as their own site states a cancellation policy up to point of it being shipped. After back and forth with them they "graciously" agreed to try cancel my order but it would take 24 - 48 hrs to contact the Customer care team to ask them. Customer care got back to me and informed me as my item is "Planned" to be shipped today it is too late to cancel and I can refuse the package for a refund. According to them this will take 6-8 weeks. IF the package is not damaged in transit. What am I meant to do. It will not be here for the timeframe I needed it. Their customer service is absolutely horrendous and I know I will never see that refund as they will claim sioe issue with the device when I send it back. To me this is textbook shitty/deceptive business practiced and a breach of their policies considering the back room cancellation policy they are using that is not public anywhere. Any advice?

Summary An ex-Ubiquiti engineer, Nickolas Sharp, was sentenced to six years in prison yesterday after pleading guilty in a New York court to stealing tens of gigabytes of confidential data, demanding a $1.9 million ransom from his former employer, and then publishing the data publicly when his demands were refused. Quotes My thoughts This was coming for him. More than this, he even tried to feed this fake breach info to Krebs on Security who wrote multiple articles defaming Ubiquiti causing their stock to tumble as per their own words. I remember this was discussed last year in WAN show when this came out, so I hope we get to see final thoughts of Linus and Luke on WAN show on this final news. Hi So would DNA tagging the computer components be bad? https://www.selectadna.co.uk/faqs https://www.selectadna.co.uk/dna-asset-marking And do you think if something is wrong with the newly bought components that the companies would say the warranty is cancelled because I DNA tagged it? Even though I'd just like put it on a spot where it doesn't come into contact with the tech of the component? Where do you think it'd be okay to place on a motherboard, gpu, nvme ssd etc? ALSO... would it fuck up the CPU if you put any on that? I mean... on the surface where you also put the thermal paste... I kinda probably think it might do something, but I'm not sure so?

So, i recently got my new PC all build and ready to game, after living with integrated graphics for the past year, I couldn't wait to get them good graphics, and with that came GTA V. I loaded the game up and was surprised how good my little 960 made the game look. But that love was soon crushed. After playing for ~10 seconds my game froze for approximately 3 seconds. I assumed it was just loading more things, but it continued to do it all through the starter missions and it was unplayable. I Tried lowering the setting but no avail. Please, i would like some suggestions. Rig: GPU: GTX 960 OC edition CPU: AMD Athlon X4 880k 16 GB RAM 600w psu 1tb sshd Help.

The life of a pirate just got a bit less rewarding as a poor guy found out when his Bitcoins got stolen. A Reddit user called Arkanoah asked for help in regards to 4.88 Bitcoins (about US$1,773) disappearing from his wallet. This all happened on the 11th of November. Yep, the day that Fallout 4 was released and the date Arkanoah downloaded a pirated copy of the game. Although not 100% sure, it does seem like his pirated copy did cost him way more than the actual game. Buyers beware? Perhaps pirates beware is a better fit. A UK company called Silicon Safe has designed a "box" that is intended to store passwords in a safe and secure manner. It can fit in a normal server rack mount and will only set you back £100,000!!!! ($140,000 US). Well... I still don't trust it, unless I know how it "sort of" operates. Saying that "It has the code stored on a chip so it's safe" does not cut it. Well, for me at least. Oh and don't forget the other security measure that is mentioned. "After four attempts to authenticate a password it will be flagged to the administrator". Wow... I am sure other software does this. This quote exactly, my point is why would a company pay that much money for a dedicated piece of hardware when there are other solutions which are cheaper. The only reason why there was mass password theft was a lot of the time because administrators where lazy and did not do their job properly. Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-35418212

A Perth woman named Chantelle was so happy that her horse won the Melbourne Cup, Australia's most prestigious horse race, that she posted a selfie of herself holding the winning ticket on Facebook. When she went to collect her winnings of (AUD)$900, she was informed that her money had already been collected. As it turns out, the picture she posted revealed the winning ticket's barcode. Someone then used barcode in the picture to claim the prize from an automatic machine. "Someone had a pretty good game at filtering my picture and cutting out my barcode and putting it into an automated machine," Chantelle said. The theft was made all the worse after Chantelle realised the culprit must be one of her Facebook friends. "To the low life who is obviously my friend on Facebook and used my photo to claim our winnings. You're a massive dick. You ruined my day," she later posted to Facebook. Not surprising that the FCC wants to push for something like this, going off the back of just how damn useful Actiivation Lock has been for Apple devices and now that Google and others are implementing their own anti-theft systems. I mean honestly, you can't even steal an iDevice anymore without knowing the account password, its a proper brick without that and Apple sure as hell won't help you unless you bring proper proof of purchase. Anything that decreases theft of devices is hardly a bad thing, IMHO the FCC shouldn't have to tell companies to do this since it should be done from the off. http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/12/8769851/fcc-phone-theft-prevention-remote-lock-data-wipe

So, I got grand theft auto IV from a humble bundle a while back. At the time, I was using a cheap laptop running win8.1, it would go past the games for windows live login stuff, but then it would load forever. I thought this might just be because of my computer's limitations... until I got the same error on my recently completed gaming rig. I don't know if the problem is with the game and win8.1, with the game, with steam, with my computer, with social club, or with games for windows live, but it will not work and I need help. Thanks Sorry this was badly written.

The irony in this is way too much for the internet to handle. Apple used to talk about how great artists steal, they got mad that other companies ape their designs. Now said other company is crying that copying is harming their business. Xiaomi...pot. Meet the kettle. Which called the pot. Who then called the kettle. There isn't enough cookware in all the restaurants of the world to describe these levels of shenanigans. You don't get to have it both ways. You copy, you get to deal with being copied. That goes for basically EVERY company, doesn't matter who you are. http://www.businessinsider.com/xiaomi-counterfeiting-sales-triple-apple-copycat-china-lei-jun-2015-4

Im shocked that others haven't rolled out similar/more secure features as part of their OSs, because Activation Lock is probably one of the most genius things that anyone could do for device security. Its a right pain when you forget to deactivate it on your own and actually sell the device, but its practically a lifesaver in the event of theft. I've had the misfortune of losing a device, Activation lock effectively turns it into a brick. Even DFU restoring and using tricks will leave the device either A. Still locked, waiting for my authorization or B. cripple the cellular portion so all you have is a very fancy iPod Touch. No wonder thefts of these devices have started to tank when the reward just isn't there anymore. Unless you have intimate knowledge of someones Apple ID password and device passcode, you've got a snowballs chance in hell of getting it to work. http://techcrunch.com/2015/02/11/apples-activation-lock-leads-to-big-drops-in-smartphone-theft-worldwide/

I guess having access to all your nudes and dirty jokes is very important to the NSA et al, who seem hellbent on having AS MANY ways of accessing your information as humanely possible. One would think they already have enough ways to get what they need, but according to this article they clearly want more and have resorted to straight up theft to get access to what they need. https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2015/02/19/great-sim-heist/ http://gizmodo.com/the-nsa-has-the-master-key-to-unlock-your-phones-secure-1686825874

If this is in the wrong section, I'll be damned. It's technically tech news. So, basically, a man from Ireland had a few drinks with his friends and decided how awesome it would be to build the house of the character Michael from Grand Theft Auto V. It's technically feasible, and the guy only wants 1.6M euros to do it. Thanks to @as96 LINK: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1511431587/michaels-house-from-gta5-real-life-build
