I live in Indonesia, it has one of the slowest connection of internet than most countries. I usually get 200 kb - 5 mb/s , I'm not sure whether buying another router is really going to change anything. Is there anyone else in my country that could recommend a good router with 50 mb/s or more? or is it not possible for my country? the photo below doesn't reflect when i actually download, i usually watch youtube on 480p and when I'm downloading i either get 200 kb/s - 2 mb/s

I have a 300mbps fiber lease line. I gets me up 250+ mbps on average, usually. My system uses MSI Z490-A pro motherboard which ships with 2.5gbE link controller. My modem supports dual channels and giga internet, uses CAT 5e cable. When using steam, i get up to 37MBps but speed test on chrome or when downloading off the chrome, i get up to 30-80 mbps (3-8 MBps). I presume it is a routing issue, my DNS is configured to auto. What can i do to make full use of it.

I recently upgraded my internet from 275 mbps to 600 and now suddenly every time I'm in a game I experience lag. Things would slow down and then move really fast all of a sudden. I monitor resource monitor's network activity and im sending 25 B/sec and receiving like 54/55,000. I'm not sure how to fix it. I currently use wireless internet and I'm not sure if its the dongle that is the issue but due to the placement of the router (another floor) I'm not really sure what I can do to resolve it. I never experienced lag before upgrading the plan. But the dongle was fine with my old speeds.

I downloaded Nicehash to try and follow all the guides required for AMD. After I mined for a few hours I turn off my computer, once I boot it up again to play I was lagging so hard, did some internet connection testing and on the wi fi was okay, but on the PC was only 200KBps downloads speed. So I reset all my internet options, reset the router, formated my PC, reset the bios and I'm still having this problem. I couldn't even finish installing the drivers because of the slow download. Specs: Ryzen 9 5900x RX 570 4GB SAPPHIRE PULSE OC (I live in Brazil GPU are 10x the US pricings) ASUS ROG B550 Gaming-A 2x16GB XPG D60G 3600mhz Crucial BX500 480GB SSD 2TB SEAGATE 7200RPM HD No PC parts were changed for troubleshooting, also don't have another internet to test or wi fi. The PC is almost unusable anymore, can't download anything

I just moved in to my new home that has a ethernet cable box that goes into all the rooms. The cables seem to be CAT7a, thats what I can read on them(category 7a) When I plug a Cat5e cable from my router into the Cat7a box and then another Cat5e in each of the rooms, my connection goes down to 100/50 mbps, but if I run a cable from my router (Cat5e) directly to my PC then I get 1000/100 mbps which is what I'm supposed to get. I don't know if I need to use shielded cables or if it will make a ground loop? I'm not really that familiar with internet cables. Any and all help is appreciated, thank you

Been dealing with painfully slow internet speeds thanks to ATT, came home after work and found out ATT has somehow figured out how to send internet through black holes. I've tried everything possible with the router (on a 45mbps plan and usually get about 745kbps). Nothing has changed since getting the plan which used to provide about 25mbps, still slow but manageable. ATT is saying the connection is fine on their end, not sure how to remedy the situation.

I recently built a new computer and when I set it up and started downloading applications/games, I noticed that my download speeds are capped at 20 megabits per second. I have a 50 mbps internet service and every other device seems to be working fine, but when I try a speed test, it just stays right around 20 mbps. I have an ASUS Z270-A motherboard with an Intel ethernet adapter. (Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (5) I219-V) It is a Gigabit port. Please help I am becoming very frustrated as my old PC (using the same ethernet cable, a CAT5) did not have this problem. I have tried switching ports on my router, re-installing drivers, re-booting modem/router just to name a few. EDIT: I tested the ethernet cable on a different PC and it worked perfectly, jumping to 50mbps

hi ever since i reset my computer to factory reset my internet has had some problems. my internet is super fast it doesnt have lags anywhere but on my pc when i play games i usually get random lag spikes and the most noticed ones was on the game league of legends where i have 32 ms normal but then randomly i get 1000-2000ms for like 5 seconds and it happens pretty often and it happens like that with almost every single application but i cant seem to find the problem of what it can be because i replaced the internet card that i had on my computer to an usb asus ac56 but on it i get faster connection but i still get the random lag and its even higher or it just completly freezes until i turn it off and on. i have an i5 2300,gtx 1070 8gb,12gb ram and 802.11n wireless lan card which is the one i have inside my pc not the usb. please help me find a solution to fix this lag problem

Hi Recently I bought a Asus usb-ac56 802.11ac wireless adapter because I have had a big problem with the Internet connection with my last Internet card that was an 802.11n wireless lan card and I made me have random lags or a fast Internet big drop and then come back up normally and then comes back in a second and the internet was really fast with it but the problem was that it lagged too often and i also bought a new router that was an rt-ac87u but when try to connect to the Internet with the USB it connects with my pc but it doesn't give any Internet and the Internet overall is superfast but superslow from time to time but Idk if it has something to do with the router settings that says that "the wan ip is not the external Up.External ip-based services will not work" Please help I can't seem to make Internet work on my pc and the Internet problem

Days after Hurrican Hato, multiple Internet issues rose for several countries in South East Asia. Majority were issues connecting to US based services / game servers. The submarine cables, known as the Asia America Gateway (AAG), Intra Asia (IA) and SEA-ME-WE3 (SMW3), all encountered problems on Sunday (27th) afternoon. Vietnam News confirms the Asia-America Gateway was also affected and the said damage was kilometers away from Hong Kong Submarine Cable Map below shows the three affected submarine cables:

Hello all, A couple days ago I got a new Windows update installed on my computer. Today is the first day that I came back on, and I'm having some internet problems. I have received this "Error 651" before, and I was able to fix it by using this handy guide on Tom's Hardware: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-3127589/fix-windows-error-651.html I had to use this guide a couple of times, usually when my computer installs a windows update when I shut the computer down. I figure, its for a security patch, and I reluctantly let it install, knowing that I'll have to use this guide again. However, this time, I tried to use it, and it didn't work. I just bought Overwatch yesterday, and I'm keen to install it. The problem is, I'm not going to be doing it when I get fewer that 5mbs download, and 2mbs upload. It's so slow, I can't even run a speedtest, because it has trouble "connecting to the server". FOR REFERENCE, I HAVE VERIZON FIOS, 100MBS UP, 100MBS DOWN. If anyone has experienced this problem before, like a lot of windows users, I would love to know what to do, even if you just point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance, ~Nmistry09 P.S. I have tried to install drivers for all of my network adapters, and it says that all of them are up to date.

What I did not realise was how big the game was... I have connected my PC to my router via ethernet yet I still get this... (picture shown) Is there absoluely anyway to speed the download up? I am going to leave the download overnight too

I live in the UK and I have a Plusnet Hub One router (an ISP standard issue router). My Ethernet connected main computer and Xbox run at top speeds, at around 60 Mbps, which is the fastest offered by my ISP. However, on devices like my laptop over WiFi I struggle to get more than 20 Mbps. This would normally be fine, as I can plug into Ethernet when I need fast internet, but when i try to stream to devices, I also experience lag and often the WiFi will cut out altogether. The connection can usually be fixed by putting the device into aeroplane mode for a few seconds, but this is incredibly annoying to do every fifteen minutes of Netflix. The same is true with websites; they will stop loading half way through. I have tried fiddling with the routers channels and made sure all devices are utilising dual band, but to no avail. I don`t mind spending £150 or so on a Router or Mesh network, but would like to know if this would actually solve the problem, or whether the problem lies with something else, such as neighbouring interference. I would greatly appreciate any advice whatsoever on how to fix my issues.

Hi guys! Wasn't sure where to put this topic so sorry in advance if its not meant to be in the "networking" category. I live in a rural area and for all my life have suffered from terrible internet I just done a wired speedtest on my desktop and got around 1.5mbps down and 0.7 Up, not very good However I have started looking into 4g broadband deals, the one im looking at is from three (I live in the UK) which is a Huawei HomeFi B311 with unlimited data for 12 months or 24 months. I have also looked into getting an external antena to get the best possible reception/speed possible. I was wondering if anyone here uses this form of internet, has any experience in this area or has a better option for me. I'm all ears! Thanks.

I hate to be the guy with a very specific problem that either no one has, or no one talks about... Yet here I am. After installing a Security Update for Windows 10, my internet has begun to act oddly. The update also broke a lot of the Explorer menus, but I was able to fix that so that's likely irrelevant - though to be thorough, I'm mentioning it. Internet speeds are fine when the PC first boots, but after about 30 seconds of being on Desktop, any downloads drop to the 400-or-less kiloBYTE range. Prior to "the incident", my internet speeds were normal. I uninstalled the update and still have the same issues. I've tried about everything that I can think of that is rational. I assumed, from the sudden drop in internet, that some app is taking up all of my bandwidth, though Task Manager reads my network at 0%, and I have killed all third-party processes that may connect to the internet. That only solved to further my frustration. I've sanity checked WiFi and Ethernet speeds on three other devices, and all other devices return "normal" theoretical and real-time speeds. The slow speeds are quarantined onto my new PC alone, and are unanimous across any and all apps that can gain internet access. Tried: -Powering off and unplugging Internet Modem for at least 60 seconds -Running Windows Troubleshooter (ha!) -Ensuring Delivery Optimization options were set for maximum download capability -Temporarily disabling Windows Update in case of hidden or bugged file download(s) -Reinstalling most recent MoBo LAN driver(s) -Reinstalling most recent Wireless Adapter driver(s) -Backdating to a previous Mobo LAN driver -Backdating to a previous Wireless Adapter driver -Rebooting into Safe Mode (with Networking) -Uninstalling suspected Windows Defender Version -Reinstalling Windows Defender Version (and future version) -Running Windows Security Threat Scans -Shutting down any and all 3rd party apps -Running DISM in elevated PowerShell/Command Prompt (primarily for Explorer issues that have since been fixed) -Running SFC in elevated PowerShell/Command Prompt(primarily for Explorer issues that have since been fixed) -Checking for updates repeatedly -Updating system Firmware -Ensuring Networking drivers are not corrupted -Updating BIOS per manufacturer's specs -Internal Monologue -Profusely Swearing Have Not Tried: -Tap Dancing -Buying Alienware Specs: CPU, AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Motherboard, ASRock AB350 Pro4 (came with GPU) GPU, ASRock Radeon RX 580 8GB Phantom Gaming X RAM, G.Skill F4-3200C16D-16GTZB Wireless Adapter, TP-Link AC1300 SSD, Mushkin Pilot 250GB M.2 HDD, Western Digital WD8003FFBX Power Supply, EVGA 210-GQ-0650-V1 OS, Windows 10 Professional, 64bit, Version 18

Hello All, I hope someone can help me out with this. I currently pay for 300Mbps/15Mbps internet. I am able to achieve these speeds via wired network connection from my Asus RT-N56U router on two computers; one desktop and one laptop. My other desktop computer is only able to achieve a maximum of 140Mbps/15Mbps using a Cat 5e network cable. I have tried several different things to troubleshoot this slow speed (listed below). The only thing I have not yet done is re-install Windows 7. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know. Troubleshooting Completed: Ran Windows 7 in safe mode with networking. Replaced the network cable with a new one (Cat 5e). Tested the new cable on a laptop and was able to get 300/15. Changed router port. Purchased and tested a new PCI Express TP-Link TG-3468 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit PCI Express Network Adapter. Same speeds as on board NIC. Verified the NIC speed was set to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex. Local Area Connection Status shows speed of 1.0 Gbps. Changed QoS Packet Scheduler – Limit reservable bandwith to 0% and tried disabling it. Disabled the following via command line; netsh int tcp set heuristics=disabled netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled netsh int ip set global taskoffload=disabled Reset TCP/IP to defaults by; netsh int ip reset Tried various combinations of NIC properties. Increased/decreased receive buffers Disabled energy efficient Ethernet Increased/decreased Receive side scaling queues Etc.. Updated all NIC/Chipset drivers from Asrock website. I have a pretty limited setup. [I was just kidding about the banger setup on the "Show off" thread] I basically have a Dell Chromebook 11 and an iPad 2. My internet is really just 3.5 Mbit on a good day so I usually just watch videos in 720p and streams in 480p. The iPad has the advantage of great color, even for a device 7 years old. But it can't even display the entire video because the resolution isn't a full 720p. Just to free some misunderstandings, if you were to go and look up the resolution, it's 768 by 1024. The problem is that since it has a 4:3 aspect ratio then there are black bars on the top and bottom of a normal 16:9 video. I also wish I could watch Twitch more. I might get a new iPad pretty soon and that'll be the main thing, but the processors are so bad in devices that old that it can't even handle a live stream. Sometimes youtube crashes. Anyways you can just give me the advice. I do care about color quality and resolution, and software bezels.

I have a powerline adapter plugged directly into the wall (not into an extension lead) and when i do a speedtest.net or even try to download anything on steam, i am getting less than half the speeds that i am getting if i used the inbuilt wifi card on my motherboard. The motherboard has gigabit Ethernet so that shouldnt be an issue. I am using a CAT 6 cable for both adapters (one connecting to the router and one connecting to the PC) and the powerline adapter which i am using is the BT Broadband Extender Flex 1000 kit (https://www.amazon.co.uk/BT-Broadband-Extender-Powerline-pass-through/dp/B00P7XV004). I am paying for 200mbps from Virgin Media, with WiFi I am getting 180mbps, with powerline i am getting 60mbps, plugged directly into the router i am getting 211mbps. Is it normal for a powerline adapter to be this slow or am i doing something wrong?

Hi, in my University many of the college hostels have slow internet speed, I have made an appeal to the center, they have told me that this issue is something out of their control, it's belongs to ISP bandwidth problem because of the bandwidth shared due to the large amount of students used. Just for my own knowledge, is there any solution that can work to increase the internet speed and solve the bandwidth shared problem?

Hello. So here is the thing. I have vodafone dsl internet in germany. My router is ''Vodafone Easy Box 804''. I noticed that speed is really slow (25mps instead of 80-90mbps) only on devices who uses 5ghz connection. Devices who uses 2.4ghz have normal speed. I tried to change channel but it doesn't help.
