so, i've had an issue with my PC for a while, getting event ID 161 volmgr alot, i replaced my old PSU and it seemed to fix the issues, then 2 months later it started happening again, i then moved my ram from A1 B1 to A2 B2, and it worked great for another 2 months, now i need to swap them back and forth every 2-3 days otherwise my PC wont actually give me a post screen, the PC posts, it goes to windows but it just doesnt give me videofeed and the white VGA lamp is lit up on the MB (z390-f Gaming strix), i tried flashing bios, thought that would help but alas it did not, also, when i switch the ramslots the issue goes from volmgr161 to nvidia drivers crashing and either have to hard reset or they recover. any tip here?

The 1st and 2nd slots for the ram are not detecting to the ram when inserted in my motherboard, (GIGABYTE ga-h170-gaming 3), so do you think putting the rams in 3rd and 4th slot damage the pc or the ram in any way?

I’ve filled up the remaining ram slot I wasn’t using with more ram and bought a wifi card and installed it on a pcie x1 port. When installing it made a harsh, grind noise like sand. I suppose it was hard particles of dust since I never used those ports since I got the motherboard (5 years ago). Everything seems to be working fine but since there’s a chance that those particles are still inside the slots, will they cause any sort of insulation o overheat issues (that could result in burns ) while current goes through the connection? P.D: I cleaned the slots with two short bursts of canned air before installing but It looks like some particles stayed.

CPU: AMD 5900X(new) MOBO: ASUS X570 PLUS WIFI RAM: 16GB PNY 3200 CL16 (2x8) GPU: ASUS 3070 TI(new) PSU: Corsair CX750 SSD: Sandisk 480GB SSHD: Seagate 2TB M.2: WD BLACK 1TB(not initialized) I decided to upgrade the parts on my pc and after installing a new m.2 I notice my two RAM sticks were in the B1 and A1(both 8GB sticks reported fine in windows and worked with XMP) instead of A2 and B2. I switched them and when I went to check windows only reported 8gb in one slot. Booted into UEFI and MOBO is saying there is no RAM in B2. I tried a few different combinations of RAM and these were my results. ------------------------------------------------------------ B1 empty B2: physical 8GB ram inserted (MOBO doesn't see 8GB RAM) A1 empty A2 physical 8GB ram inserted (MOBO sees RAM) ------------------------------------------------------------ B1 empty B2: physical 8GB ram inserted (MOBO doesn't see 8GB RAM) A1 empty A2: empty (MOBO only sees RAM in this slot) ------------------------------------------------------------ B1 Empty (MOBO only sees RAM in this slot) B2: physical 8GB ram inserted A1 physical 8GB ram inserted A2: Empty (MOBO only sees RAM in this slot) ------------------------------------------------------------ B1 empty (MOBO only sees RAM in this slot) B2: empty A1 physical 8GB ram inserted A2: Empty ------------------------------------------------------------ I have reseated the CPU and made sure there were no bent pins. I have 32GB 3600 cl16 2x16 sticks coming in the mail soon and I would like to get the most out of them. The 4 main questions I have are: 1. Is it safe to use my new 32GB sticks to help troubleshoot more? My last post I mentioned how I accidently fried a motherboard from a different PC and used the sticks from that build in my current PC to see if they were usable. I had them tested and they work fine. 2. Im 2 weeks outside the 3 year warranty, what are my chances of getting this RMA'd? 3. Would resetting the bios back to factory fix this? I worry because I had to flash the BIOS to be compatible with my 5000 series CPU ( I had a 3700x in the motherboard before, but have since sold that one) and I dont know if the motherboard would work after. 4. if its a hardware problem and I cant get it RMA are there any suggestions for motherboards that have native AMD 5000 support? Every board I google seems to say it needs a bios update to support and doesn't mention the BIOS version number.

before I ask my question, yes I know I am better off selling my 2 cards and getting a better one. i recently got a 2nd 1070 amp extreme for cheap ($125 ebay) and got a 2 slot hb sli bridge. the length is too long so I did a little research and learned there is no rhyme or reason to each manufacturer's naming system. I would prefer a zotac bridge to match my gpus,s but will gladly settle for which bridges are for approximately 60mm. the cards are are in slots 2 and 4 in an asrock z97 extreme6 if that helps. thanks in advance for the help. LTT forums are definitely the most helpful on the internet.

Hello, This Gigabyte power supply has 5 PCI-e slots, correct? Including slots for CPU. If yes, then why does Gigabyte's specifications say it has 6 slots? Here is a screenshot.

I own my Cougar MX-330G case for almost a year now and I couldn't avoid noticing the existence of two slots for fan controllers on the side of the front panel. I wonder if there is a way to populate these slots, what would be very helpful since there are still 3 fans in my pc that use a programmed fan curve. While searching about it I couldn't fin anything, not even in the manual or in forums.

Hey all, Looking to upgrade my RAM to a 4x8GB 4000MHz kit. Looking on the QVL for Ryzen processors looks as though in principle, the motherboard supports the RAM. but doesn't support a 4-DIMM installation of the memory, which kinda defeats the object of having 4x8GB sticks? Anyone had any experience with this, and was it okay to install the 4 DIMMs as normal? Cheers, Rhys PS Sorry for the handwriting on the screenshot!

So, I'm setting up a new unraid server/NAS, and i want to run a few VM's on it. Two of these VM's will be running steam for in home sharing, and hence will need GPU access. i have an old GTX570 and I'm going to get a 1050TI as well. My question is this: If the M/Board i get has a PCIe 3.0 16x slot and a 4x slot, which way should i set up my graphics cards? The GTX570 only supports PCI 2.0, which i would assume would mean that if i plug it into the the 16x slot, it will switch down to 2.0 speeds and run as normal, meaning the 1050TI would need to be plugged into the 4x slot running at 3.0 speeds. whereas if i swap them, the 570 will be on a 4x slot running at 2.0 speeds, which would throttle it heaps (i assume). would a 1050TI run at/near the same performance on a 4x slot as a 16x slot? or should i plug it into the 16x and forget about the 570 altogether?

I have a Acer Laptop Aspire E E5-574G-75N8 and it has 1 - 8GB stick of ram in it. The spec sheet on newegg says it has 2 slots but when i look at task manager and CPUZ it says i have 4 slots and one is filled. I opened up the back to swap out the HDD for a SSD and i only see 2 slots with one filled. I don't really want to take the motherboard out until i know if there is actually 4 slots because taking apart laptops is really annoying. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834315303 What do you think? does my laptop have only 2 slots? or are there 2 more slots hiding on the other side of the motherboard? If there isn't 4 slots why does Task manager and CPUZ say there is?

Alright, I was looking into building a desktop and the mobo I was looking into people say it only supports "1 CPU fan + (2) chassis fans" and I was planing on having 2 or 3 Corsair air series AF120 LED quiet edition Fans a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler with 120mm fan, which by the way I was wondering if I could replace the fan with one of the Corsair ones I just mentioned plus the case has a 200mm fan on the front is it possible to have the 200mm one 2 of the Corsair ones and the CPU one all powered with this mobo here's some links to the products Mobo http://www.amazon.com/dp/B017NMX6JO/?tag=pcpapi-20 Corsair fans http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-AF120-Quiet-High-Airflow/dp/B00F6S10KK/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1465074794&sr=1-3&keywords=corsair+air+series Case http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PDDMN6S/?tag=pcpapi-20 CPU Cooler http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005O65JXI/?tag=pcpapi-20

Ok guys, so my mother's work computer is running very very slow. Currently it only has 1Gb of DDR3 1333Mhz RAM on a Biostar N68S3B motherboard (only 2 RAM slots), AMD athlon II X2 250 processor, and 320 Gb or something 7200 Rpm HDD. The system is running windows 7 and is running google chrome with multiple tabs for 10 hours a day aswell as other job programs. I'm planning to upgrade the RAM by adding a 4Gb of DDR3 1333Mhz RAM stick on the empty slot of the mobo. So, is it a crazy idea having 5Gb of RAM on this pc? Should I go for something lower like a 2Gb stick? Or should I go with dual channel RAM even though is an AMD processor? Thank you for your help!

hello! i'm usually good with computers, but this one issue im having has me stumped. i have 2 GTX 980 Ti Hall of Fame cards in sli, they each have their massive triple fan cooler, so on idle, they they are quite cool. but as soon as i throw them under a stress test like furmark, the top card instantly shoots up in temp and hits 83 degrees, while the bottom card hits mid 60s. the airflow in my case is actually really good. it's a NZXT Phantom 630, and it has many huge 200mm fans. one is in the front, another on the side pannel, and last 2 are up top for exhaust. there's 2 120mm bottom intake fans as well. and the fan on the hard drive cage is blowing right to the top card. because they have such massive coolers, they're seperated by 3 slots. but the top card still reaches its temperature limit. neither card was overclocked. using latest drivers. using most recent version of furmark. any reason why the top card would instantly go to its temp limit and the other to sit comfortably in the 60s?

16GB 8x2 vs 4x4 ram (benchmark?): Okay if you for example KNOW that you want 16GB and only 16GB for ever in a four ram slot dual channel motherboard is it better to have two 8GBs or four 4GBs? (yes the two 8s can upgrade but that is not something I care about which of the two setups will be BETTER?) Also note both options have exact same stats lets say for example 2133MHz CL9?

Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my RAM from 8 GB to 16 GB (yes I actually use a lot of ram), should I get another set of 8 GB (2x4 GB) sticks or should I get a set of 16 GB (2x8 GB) sticks? The reason for asking is that I've read that if you have dual channel it won't work optimal if you populate all the dimm-slots, and it's better to just use 2 slots with higher capacity. Do I have to reinstall windows after I put more/new RAM in my desktop or is it fine to just stick them in? Hope you people can help me out here

pcpartpicker.com says that the asrock x99 pro doesn't have m.2 when it clearly does. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157539&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= So my question is; does the asrock x99 pro have m.2 slits and can you raid them? Plz help, MRE

Okay so straight to it. My ram from my system had troubled me since the day I got it. Blue Screening all the time. yadda yadda. but i have another system with the same ram. (this is before i knew what might be causing my problems) i had switched out the set of ram (2 4gb sticks) and stress tested my machine for hours. and low and behold seems to be my ram.(I tested all 4 sticks separately, my 2, and the other 2. Both of mine quickly bluescreened. the others did not). But the funny thing is. when i put the ram that WAS in my system in the other machine. It did just fine. that computer had no troubles. what does this mean? my motherboard my not like my ram for some reason? or some other underlying issue? Im mainly curious. but as for now both machines are running great after swapping the ram. This was important to me to have my main system running good cause i Record bands and produce music. Thanks in advance for any comments and knowledge.

My CPU temp hits 100C under load from prime95... I don't know if my pump is working properly either since it makes this weird noise but its working better than the stock fan which is bringing my CPU at 40C-60C minimum at idle. At first, I thought I put too much thermal paste, so I removed the cooler and cleaned off the thermal paste and reapplied it with less, but that didn't help. So now, I'm out of ideas! I'm using artic silver 5 thermal paste as well. And to add to that, my mobo doesn't seem to recognize when I install my RAM sticks in certain slots in certain combinations. The only config I managed to get working with my RAM is in the 3rd and 4th slot, which is fine that it's working but might be a problem if I ever decide to upgrade my RAM. It also puts into the question if something is wrong with the mobo itself. Can anyone help me? These are my comp specs: CPU I7 4790K Cooler: Cooler Master Nepton 240M Mobo: Asus Maximus VI Hero RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16gb Space: Corsair ForceLX 256GB (SSD) Seagate 2TB 7200RPM GPU: EVGA GTX Geforce 970 FTW Power: Corsair ATX 760 Case: NZXT Phantom 530 For RAM configs, Ive tested it with multiple configs including using some using sticks from my older, company manufactured computer with include 2x4gb and 2x2gb: 1&3 1&2 2&4 1,2,&3 1 (works fine with a 4gb stick, but not with the 8gb) 1,2,3,&4 and currently running on 3&4 Any and all help is appreciated!! *edit*' The CPU issue has been resolved!! It was just prime overvolting the CPU to a much higher temperature I used XTU (Intel Extreme Tuning Utility) and I'm getting much better temps
