Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great day. I'm having a wonderful time playing tech support for my mom, who is 80 years old and uses Facebook to post simple memes that aren't offensive in any way and to say good morning to people that she is friends with, along with using her Facebook portal to video chat with her niece and her great nephew. A few days ago, at night, all of a sudden her Facebook Portal asked her to connect to her account. I'm like, okay I can do that, so I go to log her in and her account was locked for breaking terms of service. I'm sitting there scratching my head and saying to myself "This can't be right, I know my mom hasn't done anything wrong. At this point I get on her phone and login to her Facebook to the message again "This account has broken terms of service, you have 180 days to appeal the decision". After talking to my mom and taking her picture, I uploaded it and decided it would be fixed soon. Before I know it my mom is chatting with them on Facebook and trying to get her account unlocked by chatting with them. Later that night, her account came back and everything was just fine, or so I thought. Fast forward to the next day, right after chatting with her niece and great nephew on the portal, the connect to Facebook appears on the Facebook Portal screen once again. At this point, my mom decided that she wanted to throw her phone out the front door. She was so upset, and rightly so, for she had done nothing wrong. At this point, I'm thinking, something has to be wrong with the Facebook Portal, maybe some security issue I haven't heard about. After some research, I came up empty. I tried to go to Facebook's support website and try to find a way to chat with Facebook but found none. You just have to fill out the forms and hope that the support team sorts it out. Fast forward to earlier today, her account was restored again, up until a few minutes ago. I hear my mom yell, BRANDON!!!!! and I'm like, what now? So we are sitting here, just waiting for a reply from Facebook, not knowing why her account received a ban, nor receiving an e-mail about it today. (I had to get her old e-mail account unlocked so I could receive e-mails, but that is a story for another time( I did manage to get her e-mail restored, thanks Spectrum support team)). I'm just wondering, has anyone else been through the nightmare that is Facebook tech support? Has anyone else had this issue where their account gets locked and they can't get it back till it gets unlocked by the support team without any reason as to why? To be honest, I love to see a Linus Tech Tips video covering this subject, I bet it would make for a great watch. I look forward to seeing the replies on this topic. I hope you all have had a great time reading. Later everyone, Brandon Dalton P.S. Now the portal is a giant brick, because my Mom can't use her account (unless you factory reset it and use a different account)

Something to look forward to for Portal fans. "Portal Reloaded is a free, community made modification for Portal 2. The mod builds on the concepts of the main game by allowing you to place a third portal, which enables traveling between two different timelines. Thinking in four dimensions is vital to solving 24 brand new mind-bending puzzles. "

A new community made mod for Portal was released today on Steam, and it's free.

You know it and love it. Responsible for some of the most popular games ever, Source Engine is truly iconic. What's your favorite Source game? It can be original Source or Source 2! My favorite is probably either the Portal series or Half Life series!

https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/nvidia-is-rtx-washing-our-favorite-games/ This guy is acting like with the release of portal rtx, the og portal is just going to disappear, the point of the rtx remixed games like portal and quake was not in any way to make a new game, it was to test the limits of what could be done with really aged games to make them look modern, there was no intention of replacement, just simply providing alternatives.

Portal 2 runs at stable 60 fps on ultra with 2x msaa on my a10-7850k at 1080p, and ~50 with drops to 40 on low at 720p on my windows tablet with cherry trail atom cpu. And it looks great. Other game that runs that good that I remember is tes 4: oblivion, but it's from 2006 and looks not very good.

Polygon and Rock, Paper, Shotgun both confirmed in an interview that Valve's writer for Half-Life 2, Portal, and Left4Dead 2, is back at Valve... sort of. This is definitely one of the funniest stories I've heard - Also Erik Wolpaw to Polygon - ^This looks like meme material to me but is actually true. Erik Wolpaw did leave Valve last year, and there was this article by Polygon that confirmed it Also, if you're wondering why the articles sound the same, Rock, Paper, Shotgun explains it below - After hearing this news, my immediate response was to check the news feed on Valve's games on the Steam client to see if Valve was open enough to show this in their own platform - Now, for some reason it didn't show up in all games from Valve. Well there it is, one to start the year off with a new set of 'Half-Life 3 Confirmed' rumors. Hopefully we do end up with Half-Life 3 and not Half-Life "more than two but less than four" EDIT: Last year I posted here 'Half-life 3 - Disconfirmed' which was referring to an article by gameinformer about some leaked info regarding Valve's alleged Half-Life 3 project which got scrapped...multiple times. Hmm... news regarding Valve and Half-Life in January last year and this year.... hmmmmmm (???)

Hello! As you probably guessed, this is going to be a portal themed build. I can't even tell you how excited i am for this. A few years ago i was building a similar PC and ran into nothing but bad luck. The paint shop i brought my case to didn't bother to spell check before airbrushing ?, as well as some parts being stolen and I ended up not having the money to fix/replace things. BUT THE DREAM IS STILL ALIVE! Fear not my fellow portal fans, it's time for me to upgrade and oh boy is this going to be fun. So if you're as big of a portal dork as i am feel free to follow my build and I'll do my best to keep you all updated along the way. I have all my parts ordered already and they should be arriving soon. Case: Corsair 780t CPU: i9-9900K RAM: 32gb DDR4 (4x8gb) Mobo: Asus Prime Z390-A GPU: 2X EVGA 2080 XC Storage: 2x Samsung 1tb SSD (raid 0) 2x 6tb WD Black (raid 1) PSU: Corsair RM1000 Fans: Noctua NF-F12 & NF-A14 Cooling: Dual water loop - PETG rigid tubing, 2x EK 360mm radiators Thank you all for checking out my build log Teaser:

So I got bored tonight and decided to download steam to my TabPro S to see how well a 1.5ghz tablet with 4gb of ram would handle games. after testing both Portal and Portal 2 on the highest resolution I could use with Medium - high graphics settings I have to say I am impressed. It hardly ever dropped any frames and ran the games to the same quality if not better than a laptop with double the processing power and ram. Has anyone else had experiences like this???

I got this old dell with a Q6600 , 4gb of ram, intel GMA 3000 graphics and I wanted it to play some old games like portal and half life for my 12 year old nephew but by some reason the pc wont run portal properly even on the lowest resolution and settings the game doesn't stop stuttering and it looks like it runs at 2fps. I was checking the minimum requirements for this game that I was quite sure that the pc would run and the requirements are the following: Here are the Portal system requirements (minimum) CPU: 1.7 GHz Processor CPU SPEED: 1.7 GHz RAM: 512 MB OS: Windows 7 (32/64-bit)/Vista/XP VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GeForce3+ / ATI Radeon 8500+ SOUND CARD: Yes Portal Recommended Requirements CPU: Pentium 4 CPU SPEED: Info RAM: 1 GB OS: Windows 7 (32/64-bit)/Vista/XP VIDEO CARD: DirectX 9 level Graphics Card (GeForce FX 5500/Radeon 9500) SOUND CARD: Yes So it seems that this pc meets the requirements and I cant figure out why the game doesn't run well. Can someone help me please? thanks in advance!

According to PC Gamer, Star Trek/Wars director J.J. Abrams, is going to announce a movie adaptation of the popular minigame Portal. Portal was first released as a small game bundles with Half-Life 2: Episode 2 along with another small online only game, called Team Fortress 2. Since then, Portal got a full size sequel (And TF2 grew to be a huge online game). There has been talks of a Valve movie adaptation before in Half-Life, but Valve has refused, as a love story always seems to be presented. No mention of any date for the movie, or in fact even the announcement. *Picture not from official movie http://www.pcgamer.com/jj-abrams-to-meet-with-valve-next-week-to-discuss-portal-and-half-life-movies/?utm_content=buffer61147&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=buffer-pcgamertw Personally I think they could make an epic movie based on the Portal franchise. I do wonder if they are going serious/spooky or more child focused. I hope for the former.

I've just started playing portal (I'm cheap and got it on a steam sale) and I'm getting major screen tearing when moving my mouse around. I am playing on an older Asus ROG laptop with a GTX 965m inside it but I feel that should be powerful enough to run portal at 1080p! Is this something that would be fixed by a G-sync monitor? Or just moving back to my desktop with a better graphics card? I have had screen tearing happen before in other games on this laptop so it could be that the screen is just getting old. Please help!

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I've been trying to load Portal 2 on my computer but when I select continue game, it always crashes. Before I got my current computer, I was able to play fine on an iMac, but on my computer, which is very much capable of running the game (i7 4790k, GTX 980), I can't get past loading the level. I have verified the game cache, which I saw worked for some people, but it didn't help a thing for me. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

So I'm trying to get portal 2 to run on my computer. (I did try and post in the "support" site general discussion [Link:https://steamcommunity.com/app/620/discussions/0/451848855018269080/ ]) Most of what is going on is listed in that thread. Short story is the game crashes immediately when I use the shortcut and if I use the .exe it crashes at the loading screen. I have dual Xeons, 980ti and the OS (windows 10) and game are on SSDs. I've tried everything I can think of and no luck. ANY AND ALL HELP APPRECIATED! thanks.

Hi guys. So I'm planning to build a rig. But not just any rig. A COMPANION CUBE RIG. I was inspired by a guy named zAAm who practically built the most perfect version of a Companion Cube case. The thing is... I'm relatively new to building computers. Though some of my friends are willing to help me out, I don't want to constantly pester them with questions. So my plan is as of now is to make a 10in x 10in x 10in cube case with 1/4in plexiglass. This will be giving me only 9.5in x 9.5in x 9.5in of space. I want to make a casual gaming mini itx but I'm afraid of limited space. My original plan was CPU: no clue RAM: no clue........ 8gig? PSU: Silverstone Tek 450-Watts SFX PSU with 80 Plus Gold, ST45SF-G CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9I Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VII IMPACT Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard ($218.99 @ SuperBiiz) Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($219.89 @ OutletPC) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Superclocked Video Card ($148.98 @ Newegg) My other plan was this due to very limited space CPU: no clue RAM: no clue........ 8gig? PSU: Silverstone Tek 450-Watts SFX PSU with 80 Plus Gold, ST45SF-G or FSP300-60LG-5K CPU Cooler: h55 Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VII IMPACT Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard ($218.99 @ SuperBiiz) Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($219.89 @ OutletPC) Video Card: none So what do you guys think? OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS, ADVICE, ETC

So recently Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal (both beta) came out for Steam on Linux. I just installed it (L4D2 is friggin' 12 GB) and I have noticed some weird performance behaviors. I have a HD 7750 with the AMD Catalyst 13.4 drivres on Ubuntu-Gnome 13.04. On windows I have around 150 fps with Maximum details on 1080p, on Linux I get everything from 10 to 100 fps. (Same for Portal) Have you tried any games from Steam on Linux yet?

I have been playing Portal, and every now an then, mostly when loading a level, the game freezes. I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del, go to task manager, and Alt+Tab a few times, then my cursor appears and I can go back and the game plays fine for about one more load session or about 10 minutes. I can still play the game, but it gets very annoying.
