Hello dear PC experts, I'm upgrading my computer today and I'm installing my current SSD which currently has Windows installed as main storage on my new build. But now the question is what happens to the old Windows files? Can someone explain the whole process to me? I installed Win 11 on a USB to then install it on the new build but what happens then and what happens to the old Windows files on the SSD from my previous PC? Thank you for info!

Budget (including currency): $2,700.00 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Bethesda games, Minecraft, Cyberpunk, Star Citizen. Mainly want to be able to use this as a family gaming system. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Just wanted to get a sanity check from the group on my proposed parts list and if anyone had any input that may save me money, headache, etc. The parts listed below are above the budget I set (currently sitting at $3,156.83 USD) but ideally, the budget would sit under that 2,700 mark. I just built my first PC and am having what I think is a unique issue. After starting my PC, I am able to launch games just fine and play for however long I want with no issues whatsoever (no stuttering, no crashing, great framerates, etc.). However, once about 5 minutes passes and I close the application, I am unable to launch games again. I am able to launch/close multiple times and even multiple games before I hit the 5 minute mark, but afterwards I am no longer able to launch the app. I have tested this with two games - Halo Infinite Multiplayer (via Steam) and Warzone 2.0 (via Battle.net) and have the same results. I feel I have tried just about every suggestion for issues where games fail to launch or are crashing: - Ensured I did not daisy-chain PCIe cables to my GPU (RX 7900 XT) and I have an 850W PSU (Thermaltake Toughpower GF1) - Re-Seated all hardware connections - Updated BIOS (Asus Prime B650 Plus) - Updated drivers (GPU, Chipset, and Mobo). I also tried rolling back the GPU driver. - Updated Windows - Updated game apps, verified integrity of game files - Temporarily disabled Antivirus/firewall (also changed settings to allow the apps through the firewall) - Ran games as admin - Tried a clean boot - Disabled DOCP - Clearing cache files - Uninstalled/reinstalled games - Ran Windows 11 In-Place Upgrade - Disabled AMD and Steam overlays My CPU is a Ryzen 5 7600x, my RAM is Corsair Dominator Plat 5600MHz DDR5, SSD is Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB, and I am running Windows 11 Home. I have a dual monitor setup with an Omen 27qs and Omen 27i. I have been researching the issue all week and haven't come across any forum where someone has had an issue like this. I am able to work around the issue by just restarting my PC whenever I want to play a game but it's not ideal. Any suggestions or troubleshooting tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I’m not sure what coolers and psu I have though. I’ll be planning on playing on a 1440p 144hz monitor. I would like to know if there’s anything I should upgrade for my build or add to it. I wouldn’t like to spend TOO much money unless necessary.

Budget $4,000 USD: Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Photo Editing, Rendering, CAD Other details Hi. I'm looking for a parts list or direction on building a pc for photo editing, Rendering and CAD. I tend to use my computers for a long time. My current one is over 11 years old and still going but i have to face up to replacing it. I figure I can budget $4,000 or there about. My current PC uses a SSD for the operating system and two 1TB HDD in RAID 1 config. I would like a setup that had RAID 1 for the operating system as well as the data drives. Any help would be great.

Budget (including currency): No More than $1,500 (US dollars) Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Adobe Premier Pro & Visual Studio Code Editor (I use it mostly for video editing for my day job. I code with multiple windows open, including Chrome and Fire Fox.) Hello, I have done some of my own research on PC Building and SI Prebuilt; however, I have never built a pc myself. I wanted to attempt to build my next pc, yet with CPU and GPU shortage it looks like that my not happen this year. I wanted to ask all the experts in Linus Tech Tips Forum on where to go next. Current PC: A 5 years old Inspiron 3668 that my father-in-law gave me. It renders video files in about..... 3 hours.... and export them in about ..... 15 hours. It currently has a GPU in it that is only a year old. SO here is the problem: I would like a new pc, but I can wait if price or company isn't right. I am looking for more information to make an informed build. The SI that I am looking at buying from is NZXT BLD. Which I am debating about the Streaming PC (image below on Specs) or building my own with the current GPU as my graphic card in the new build. Which one is best for my situation? Should I wait? Should I build it? Should I buy it from NZXT? I just want to learn more and I appreciate any help. Thank you Linus Tech Tip Fans. Current PC Specs: Processor: Intel Core i3-7100 CPU @3.90GHz Installed RAM: 16gb Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti

I built my pc around 4/5 years ago when I was a freshman in high school. I am now a freshman in college and with more money and a bigger passion in streaming, I wanted to sell my current pc and use this money towards a new build. Unfortunately, I am not 100% sure what I should sell this pc for, or what it is worth. I originally built this pc for around $1300, (some prices on the pc part picker list were unavailable), and had originally though of pricing it at $1000-$1100. I mainly used it more school at first in the first couple of years of high school, then started using it more for gaming and streaming come senior year and this year of college. Any feedback or interest in pricing or buying my pc is appreciated thank you!

Hey everyone, I am absolutely stumped and would appreciate some help. Built a new pc a couple of days ago, everything was going smoothly (PC posted first try!) right up until I put in my GPU, which came out of my old PC while I wait on stock of the 3080 to become available. PC turns on, fans all spin, RGB all turned on, AIO pump was recognized in BIOS and was keeping everything cool, installed a fresh version of windows using the onboard graphics just to make sure everything was good before adding in the GPU. Then once I installed the GPU I was met with a black screen, cant get into BIOS, cant get into windows, nothing. Just a black screen and then every now and then it will flash to 'no signal' then go back to black. I put the gpu back in my old system and it works fine so I know its not that, I even borrowed a RTX 2070 Super from my friend and that still gives me a black screen. For a while I had the white 'VGA' light on the motherboard light up when I inserted the GPU which I believe is the PC telling me there is an issue with the display but after updating the BIOS that light has stopped coming on however I still get a black screen. I've tried forcing PCIE display in BIOS, I've tried reinstalling the GPU, I've checked my power cables, cant find the issue. Some insight would be greatly appreciated, for reference my part list is below: i7-10700k Corsair iCUE H100i RGB PRO XT AIO cooler Corsair RM750X power supply Asus Z490-H motherboard Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB 3200mhz Crucial P2 M.2 nvme 500gb Crucial P1 M.2 nvme 1TB

Is my planned build ok, or should I revise the parts?
Autz posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
If this build seems overkill, then that's because it is. Parts- AMD Ryzen 1700X ASUS CROSSHAIR VI HERO Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb 3000MHz Geforce GTX 1080 TI And those parts equal about $2100 after adding in the liquid cooler, storage, case, power supply, Windows 10, and the case fans. These are the main questions that I have for this build, and I hope they will be answered. Should I try and keep the price down by using a 1700 instead of a 1700X? Should I switch to an Intel processor instead of using RYZEN? Should I ditch getting the 1080 TI and wait until NVIDIA releases the 1180 graphics card? Any reasonable recommendations are appreciated.- 5 replies

Hello I would like to get your suggestions on what the best pc build would be with a budget of $1,300 (+ 150 if it's worth it) I would like to game at 4k if possible and to be reasonably powerful with boinc more specifically seti@home and atlas@home, you don't need to add the price of peripherals ps, go green
