I need some assistance and am once again calling on the LTT forums to come to my aid. I just completed a new PC build - a 7800x3d + 4080 Super. So of course my kids want to do some serious gaming....by wanting to play the Pixelmon mod for Minecraft. I know very little about doing this kind of thing. I am very hesitant to do it because it seems like a lot of downloading of various third-party bits and bobs and I can't say I trust the process in any meaningful way. However, I want to make sure that it isn't just me being hesitant because I'm not willing to learn how to do something. So, if there is any assistance, pointers, or advice that the hivemind could provide me to try and be the Bandit Healer of my own home and earn some "cool dad" points, that would be great. Same for any cautionary tales if this is actually a terrible idea, as I have never heard of anyone playing this out in the wild but only somewhat obnoxious, faceless YouTubers. Thank you in advance!

I am setting up port forwarding on my router for a Minecraft server and having trouble getting it working. I will attach a photo of how I have it setup. basically I give the ip address to my friend to see if he can join but he can't. I can join from my local network, but that still doesn't mean the port forwarding is setup correctly. any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, Since I upgraded my graphics card from a 2060 to 4070 recently I have been getting very low FPS in Minecraft due to low GPU usage. My Minecraft performance is worse than with my 2060. I do not think any system bottleneck is causing the issue so I am not sure why. My GPU usage is fine in any other game. When I start loading new chunks in Minecraft my FPS goes up because my GPU usage goes up. I am playing Minecraft JAVA edition version 1.20.4. My PC specs: RTX 4070 Core i5 13600KF 16GB DDR4 3200mHz 750W PSU 2TB NVME SSD Anyone know what is causing this issue and how to solve it? Thanks!

I just posted this on the r/Minecraft subreddit though thought I'd post this here too. I might be more than a day late but life got in the way! If like me you prefer to play with shaders in order to make a snapshot playthrough something more long term then this is the post for you! I haven't yet seen a post related to getting this working and whilst I am sure a lot of people out there may know how to do this I also feel as though I should make others aware of it too! Keep reading below to reproduce this yourself. Before and after enabling shaders on 24w14potato Snapshot Step 1 - Make sure the Minecraft Poisonous Potato (24w14potato) update is installed in the default Minecraft launcher (Download the 24w14potato snapshot and open it at least once, then close down the game and the launcher if it is still running). Step 2 - Download the Universal Jar from Iris Shaders website. Make sure Java is installed to double-click this. Step 3 - Open the Universal Jar that was just downloaded (Iris-Installer-3.2.0.jar) and select the game version - Look for '24w14potato' in the drop down. If done correctly the 'Use Distant Horizons beta version' check box should be disabled and there should also be text in yellow saying 'Warning: 24w14potato is a snapshot build and may lose support at any time'. Step 4 - Select the installation type. In this case select 'Iris Only' (Unfortunately 'Iris + Fabric' will crash on launch) and make sure that the Installation Directory is set to the default .minecraft folder. Select Install! Step 5 - Re-Open the Minecraft Launcher, inside the installation tab should now be a version called 'Iris & Sodium for 24w14potato'. Select Play and that's the installation complete! Go grab a shader and have fun! In the case your block borders have now become really thick with a shader pack turned on, try with a texture pack. This sorted it for me. Only working for Java edition currently.

Lately I've been running my nodded server on some old hardware and I've been wondering about upgrading my server. Current hardware is a intel i7-3770 (non k) with 32GB of ram and a SSD. Runs fine most of the time. But there is definitely room for improvement. Anyone know of any solid setups that I could build to be able to run my server with no performance issues? I've seen that minecraft is a single thread game so would it be best to get a single core Intel cpu with a high clock speed? I'm not sure here.

Hi all, I got an Asus TUF 4090 a few weeks ago and I've enjoyed it with many games, but playing Minecraft has showed some issues. Please help! It would be greatly appreciated. I'm playing Minecraft 1.20.4 with BSL shaders, newest version, running on Optifine, also newest version. I am using BSL shaders, preset settings HIGH, and I have a render distance of 16. However, I am literally getting 22 fps. I do not understand what is going on. GPU usage is low at only around 15% usage (45-55 degrees Celsius, 3500 Mb GPU memory used, 2500 Mhz GPU clock speed). GPU chip power draw is at 70 watts. Power usage is low, at only 70-100 watts (15-20% usage). CPU is also low usage. It maintains around 70 degrees Celsius, 15% usage, and 5Ghz clock speed. HOWEVER, the CPU 10, 11, and 12 usage are through the roof, all around 80-100% usage under load. Is this the problem? Or is this normal? The overall usage still low. Here are some analytics. The spikes are where I tabbed to Minecraft (with BSL shaders): https://imgur.com/gallery/BZDbnpE Also, I ran Heaven benchmark and was able to get 100% GPU usage, so I'm afraid that the problem is the CPU. But it's the 7800x3D! Which performs better than even the 7900x3D (for games)! I just don't get it. This is my system: GPU: Asus TUF 4090 CPU: Ryzen 7 7800x3D RAM: G.Skill 6000Mhz PSU: Corsair HX1000i MOBO: Gigabyte b650 Gaming X AX V2 Monitor: 27" 4k 144Hz

Howdy! I plan to run a Minecraft server on my windows PC for some friends... but I want to do it safely. Some people recommend Cloudflare, and some people recommend a VPN or some just using a firewall with exceptions for the Minecraft port. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of how to safely port forward it? My initial plan was to port forward a VPN as I would also be running a homelab with a NAS and a couple other resources I'd like to access outside of my home network, but some people say it's still not safe and I just want to know the opinion of someone who has done similar themselves and could give me advice. Thanks in advance!

Im having a strange issue on a 15GB modded mc server hosted by GPortal. Ive seen other people have the same issue but haven't found solutions other than to call ISP. If that's what I have to do, I will. So basically I can play for hours with no issues at all. But every time a specific person joins my ping shoots up to 120-140 and makes the game unplayable for me. As soon as he disconnects, my ping normalizes back at the average 21ms I get on this server. Everyone else in the server is perfectly fine when he joins, only I'm affected. We all live within walking distance to each other and we all have AT&T, although I have fiber and they do not. I get 947Mbps down, and 945Mbps up. Ive never lagged on any game since switching to fiber until now, but I feel like something strange is going on. What steps should I take to fix this? I'm creating a parts list for my first PC build, and thought I'd post it here for any recommendations. Budget (including currency): 1300$ USD Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games: Primarily Minecraft & EVE Online, with some War Thunder, World of Tanks, World of Warships, & World of Warplanes Other: Programming on Arduino platform & a few others, animating/rendering things in Blender, & general web browsing Other details: My current Micro Center Parts List, I'm not upgrading from anything. The only needed peripheral currently is a monitor, but if the motherboard doesn't have Bluetooth, I'd have to get a Bluetooth dongle or something similar. At first, I'd be playing at 1080p to save money on the monitor, but would later upgrade to 1440p. Refresh rate doesn't matter a ton since I wouldn't be playing competitively, but I'd like the monitor to be at least 100hz. At some point after the swap to 1440p, I'd probably get a second monitor. I'll probably be buying the PC sometime around midsummer this year, but it could be later during the fall. I also want the PC to be AM5, for future proofing.

Hi there, I need help identifying a persistent and challenging issue. We are offering a $100 USD reward for its resolution. So I work for a Minecraft server, and we average a few hundred daily players, however the last 2.5 months or so we've been facing a network issue, every few minutes, we have a random player get disconnected. This problem randomly started happening out of nowhere, the Minecraft server is a Prison server, and we have seasons that last around a month, and this issue popped up mid-season, and mid-seasons we don't change anything major, or update any plugins except for our own plugin when releasing patches for the gamemode, and we did not push anything that would cause the issue we are facing, it quite literally seems like it started out of no where. For quite some time, we were running on a dedicated server provided by Hetzner and we had 0 issues, and like I had previously stated, we then started facing issues out of no where, and at the time, we were using a game DDoS protection service named TCPShield, we then began to go back and forth with their support team as we had figured it was a problem on their end, and after a while we weren't able to come to a solution, so as a troubleshooting step, we switched to two other providers, one being Papyrus, another DDoS protection service, and another named Pufferfish, which we bought a VPS through, and began proxying our Hetzner machine through that ourselves using HAProxy, however none of these things fixed our issue, we still had players disconnecting every few minutes or so, and we had no idea as to what the reason was. After trying different DDoS protection methods, thinking that was where our problem was, none of them resolved our issue, so we decided to switch hosting providers from Hetzner to OVH, that way we eliminate the extra DDoS protection layer we were using, and we used raw OVH as our DDoS protection, that way we could also rule out the dedicated server we previously had as the issue. So now, we had a new dedicated server on a completely different host, an entirely different network, no extra layers of DDoS prot, and we still faced the issue. Our Minecraft server setup consists of a proxy running Bungeecord, 5 hub servers, and the main gamemode server, Prison. When players are disconnected, they aren't disconnected from the server they are on and sent just to a hub, they are kicked entirely from the proxy, and we tried switching the software the proxy used from Bungeecord to Velocity, which still did not fix the issue, we had the exact same error. No matter the server you were on, whether that be a Hub server, or the main Prison gamemode, players were still being kicked, so we decided to look into our plugins to see which plugins we had in common between these servers, in-case it was a faulty one. We found quite a number of shared plugins, however these plugins were all up-to-date, and ones that we didn't believe would cause the issue, such as things like LuckPerms (permission management), LiteBans (punishments), and a few other of believed innocents. We tried disabling plugins that were interacting with networking, such as ProtocolLib (a packet handler which provides an API to devs), and a few other non-required plugins, which again, did not solve our issue. Current Setup: - A dedicated server on OVH running Ubuntu 22.04, with a Ryzen 9 5900X CPU, 128gb of RAM, and gigabit networking - Pterodactyl game panel (baremetal) - Docker, which runs our databases (MongoDB, MariaDB, and phpMyAdmin), metrics software (Grafana, Prometheus, and InfluxDB), as well as houses containers the Pterodactyl panel hosts - Game server proxy running Velocity - 5 Hub servers, and a Prison server (running a 1.8.9 PaperSpigot fork) We Tried: - Switching dedicated server hosts (Hetzner -> OVH) - Switching DDoS protection services - Switching game server proxy software (Bungeecord -> Velocity) - Switching software on the 5 hubs, and Prison server (Custom PaperSpigot fork -> VortexSpigot, another Paper fork, and vanilla Paper) - Ensuring our fireware was properly configured (no rate limits, or bad rules) - Disabling plugins we believed to be at fault, or were interacting with things at a deep level that could potentially cause our issue We Know: - It isn't our dedicated server hardware, or host/DDoS prot (could be something on the machine its self, software wise?) - It isn't the machine being bottlenecked - It isn't the software the proxy, or other servers are running - The issue isn't region based, many players we checked were very far distances from one another The Error (Only shown in proxy logs): [15:36:12] [Netty epoll Worker #44/INFO] [com.velocitypowered.proxy.connection.client.ConnectedPlayer]: [connected player] xxx (/xxx:11576) has disconnected: An internal error occurred in your connection. [15:36:12] [Netty epoll Worker #44/ERROR] [com.velocitypowered.proxy.connection.MinecraftConnection]: [connected player] xxx (/xxx:11576): exception encountered in com.velocitypowered.proxy.connection.client.ClientPlaySessionHandler@38e34ed5 io.netty.channel.unix.Errors$NativeIoException: recvAddress(..) failed: Connection reset by peer [15:36:12] [Netty epoll Worker #44/INFO] [com.velocitypowered.proxy.connection.MinecraftConnection]: [server connection] xxx -> Prison has disconnected With everything we have tried, nothing has fixed the issue we are facing, and we're running out of things to try, which is why we are making this post in hopes someone can help us resolve this issue.

Budget (including currency): Around $800 to $1000 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, video editing, and other more modern games Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have an i5 6400 This is the build list I have made: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GMwhmD If you can make this one better or make a build that is better that does not use the i5 6400 that would be great. I like Intel and Nvidia but do not require them, just if the specs and price are the same I would take the Intel one. I need a drive for the OS and a drive for everything else. Would like my "everything else" drive to be two in raid 1 so I can lose one. Will run windows, would like to have more ram than less. Will need case and psu, can do without peripherals for now. Need any more info, just ask.

As the title suggests I have been trying to get a server up and running on both Ubuntu and Rasberry Pi, however no matter what I do no devices on same or different wifi can connect. I think it is Virgin Media Business (long story) Wifi blocking since the device gives a different IP to whatsmyip so I have no idea which to use and given neither work and the port isn't open according to any port checker despite opening the port, I am a complete beginner and really just want to make a basic Paper/modded server so any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So I am in the process of setting up a Minecraft server and I got all the necessary files and things in place...or at least I think I do. But when I run the server I am unable to connect. For reference I am running an ark server from the same system which works perfectly. I have opened all the ports for it and it should be working but when I launch it I am still unable to join. My first point of interest is if you look at the command prompt, where it says: "starting Minecraft server on *:25565" is there supposed to be an IP address where the "*" is? Also I am pretty new to this stuff so if anybody needs more pictures or knows how to easily fix this I would appreciated it greatly.

I am thinking of buying a Macbook Air M2 base model. I am not a huge multitasker and usually close all applications which are not currently in use and just reopen them later and i prefer to do it this way. I want to play Minecraft occasionally on high settings and a render distance of 12. I also want to use medium quality shaders. Is 8gb ram enough to maintain constant 60fps or will it start feeding into swap?

Minecraft is the first ever video game to reach 300 million copies sold worldwide. Minecraft has been the best selling game for a while now, beating out Grant Theft Auto V by almost 115 million copies. It is truly an unstoppable game and will be the best selling game for the foreseeable future.

About a week ago I built a new pc and installed lunar client. After booting up the game and playing for a bit, the game suddenly froze and the screen displayed a sort of black/blue randomized pixelated screen. After staying frozen for a moment, the window closed, as well as several other applications that use a decent amount of ram, such as Discord, and Steam. "Maybe that was just a one off" I thought to myself. but alas, yet again it crashed after about 20 mins of gaming. So I decided to do a bit of investigating into the matter. I had noticed a few things so far. It was most definitely some type of ram issue, I was pretty sure it happened only when I was closing/opening a GUI, it is only happening with lunar client. Not default Minecraft or any other applications. I then did a few tests. Test one confirmed that it was a ram usage problem by means of monitoring task manager whilst playing the game, and after it getting to 100% usage it would do the weird crash thing. Test two confirmed it was GUI related. I confirmed this by repeatedly opening GUI's, and every time one was opened/closed ram usage would go up by about 70mb. I could now recreate the crash by opening and closing GUI's for about 30 seconds. And test 3 confirmed that it was only a lunar client based problem, as I had done the same test on the default Minecraft. But all this begs the question. Why. Is. This. Happening?????? (I have also changed the ram allocation to see if that affects anything. It does not.) Pc Specs: Ryzen 7 5700g. Corsair Vengeance RGB pro 16G ram 3200mhz. (POSSIBLY IMPORTANT: I am using integrated graphics. I do not have a dedicated GPU) Thank you for your time.

Howdy! I'm looking to setup a minecraft/vpn server on proxmox which will be running on a 4 core i5 either 3rd gen or 4th gen I can't remember. But i'm curious if that will be enough cpu for running the vpn with up to 4 conncurent clients and the minecraft server with two clients all at the same time? the ram is 8gbs and I plan to allocate 2gbs to the VPN and 4 to the minecraft server.
