I recently built a HTPC from spare parts and a $200 1070 TI last winter and have sort of fallen in love with it. It's nearly on par with my 4 year old desktop. My desktop is a NZXT Manta which I think is a nice case, although the curved design didn't age too well in my opinion. There's just a little voice in the back of my head telling me to transplant my rig into a smaller mini-ITX case, but it seems a little silly. I think if I was building today (or rather during more normal circumstances like last year) I would probably build my dedicated gaming desktop into a small case. What does everyone else think? What's your preferred case size/shape and why? Also as a side question, do you upgrade your case and when?

Hello, I am new to this forum and this is my first thread. I currently have a Fractal Design Define R4 case without any watercooling, I am currently using AMD graphics card, corsair 750W power supply, 8gb of ram, 1 TB hard drive and 250MB SSD. I am really bored of my case and parts, I will be doing a major upgrade this year such as: Upgrading to Geforce GTX graphics card. Corsair RAM sticks with LED Watercooling Case Motherboard I need help with picking my parts which I stated above, my main priority is my case. I want a case with WATERCOOLING compatible and enough space for it.

Source: http://www.anandtech.com/show/11418/lian-li-launches-pco12-midtower-three-chambers-eatx-lcsfocused Looks interesting, nice way to show off your GPU coolers in a separate chamber. As usual with Lian-Li cases peasants not welcome, just the case costs $400. Limited height on the CPU coolers (75mm max) - Looks like they expect liquid cooling with space for a 360 top radiator and a 280 in the front. Only support for 2 expansion cards despite fitting E-ATX and ATX. HDMI on the front panel to cater for the VR market.

I am currently planning for my first build during the summer and looking for good , clean , friendly ATX case I have got them down to 4 options and I need help to choose the best one . Please help me out and tell me which one to chose and why Phanteks Evolve ATX ( NON-TG) - Everyone seems to think this is an amazing case and a pleasure to work with S 340 Elite by NZXT - I think it is the one I saw most on the forum here and seems very simple Noctis 450 - a better H440 perhaps and probably the best looking choice CoolerMaster Mastercase Maker 5t Other suggestions are welcome too Thanks In Advance

I am looking for a mid-tower case with good airflow for gaming, my budget is $100 but Ill go higher if I need to, Id prefer a side mount for a fan instead of a window.

Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the white LED strip on the bottom of the front panel of the Corsair 275R? If so, how and where would I find a red LED strip replacement?

I would greatly appreciate any feed back on the rig, compatability, functionality, or any response at all, I'm pretty happy with the components but I'd be open to any advice. I'd also like to buy it all on Amazon if i could. I'm looking for a quiet Mid-Tower case for my PC. I'm currently using a NZXT H510i but I don't care for RGB or glass on the side. I only bought it because of the front panel Type C port. I do have an old Cooler Master Silencio 550 but my NH-D15 doesn't fit. Price is not that important but it needs to be silent, have good air intake and my hardware has to fit. Front panel Type C port for added bonus. Any suggestions? The rest of my specs: Ryzen 9 3900X X570 Aorus Master Noctua NH-D15 Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Gaming OC (Maybe upgrading to 3080 or 3070(super/TI?) in a year or so) 1x 2.5" SSD 1x 3.5" HDD

Hi guys, I'm building a new desktop and I'm looking for case that is discrete, I don't want RGB perhaps a side window but I don't mind if the case doesn't have one. In a previous build for my wife I used a Corsair Carbide Spec-01 but barely has any space for cable management and it doesn't allows tall coolers, I barely fitted a Hyper 212 in it. These are the specs that I'm looking into it: Ryzen 7 1700 or Ryzen 5 1600 with an XFX Radeon RX580 8GB I was thinking in a Cooler Master MCB-Q300L or Corsair cc-9011138-ww but I don't know how good are these cases. I'm not planning to do any overclock that requires a lot of air flow or heavy gaming. Mostly it will be used for 3D printing, handling 3D models, slicing and stuff like that but I want a case that might allow future upgrades. I appreciate if you can give some me recommendations for a case.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fractal-design-define-r6-tempered-glass-edition-case,5399.html I am actually pretty excited about this case. They seemed to have addressed everything that was off-putting (to me, anyways) about the R5. Has a lot of options and space for water cooling too, as long as you don't use internal HDDs. Is anybody planning picking this up when it hits stores/e-tailers?

Hey Guys. I've made a couple of topics always about 2 cases, 1 versus the other to see which one I like best but in those topics I always discovered more cases and the disadvantages to the cases I liked. So I thought to myself : "linustechtips is the fastest forum with so many knowledgeable people who own most of the cases I ask about and those people have so much insight to what to get or not to get". Well I think the best idea for someone like me, a person who wants to build his first pc and does not have a store next to his house with those cases so he can check them out for himself, to just make a Case War in the best website to see what people think and in the process open a 2016 discussion (since many people are building new cases around this time) to what case is the best to buy for 2016 and why. The Cases I'm familiar with (know about not seen myself) are: *Prices in my country* - Fractal Design Define S (Window): 100$ - Corsair Obsidian 450D: 145$ - CoolerMaster MasterCase 5: 145$ - Fractal Design Define R5 (Window): 158$ - NZXT H440: 161$ - Corsair Carbide 540 Air: 170$ Corsair Obsidian 750D: 194$ - Corsair Obsidian 750D Airflow Edition: 197$ - Corsair Carbide Clear 600C: 203$ - CoolerMaster MasterCase Pro 5: 204$ - In Win 805 (Tempered Glass): 236$ - Corsair Graphite 760T: 241$ - Corsair Graphite 780T: 244$ - Corsair Obsidian 900D: 440-485$ - Phanteks EVOLV Tempered Glass: 500-520$ I need to choose one of those cases for my build so here we go. I love aesthetics, I am one of those people who really appreciates what he has when its beautiful to the eye, an eye candy freak ! For that reason I will buy the NZXT Hue+ Led Kit so the PC i buy will also have Red/Purple lights coming out of it. Window Necessary. my most preferred cases are box cases not cases with extreme curves and designs from 2012 (NZXT Phantom lmao). Most if not all the cases i wrote up there are box cases except for the MasterCase,Graphite,EVOLV, but those cases are cases i appreciate for being themselves and i kind of like how they look. I want the case to be quiet but quietness is not why i am building a new pc, i want my room to look Premium and have nice headphones (ATH-M50X) with a beautiful IKEA table and beautiful 5.1 speakers, an incredible 34 Inch 3440x1440 Predator X34A or P and RGB Lights behind all of that to light up my room (Also having an RGB Keyboard and mouse). Basically not something special to most of the 2000$+ Builders but still i want to note what I'm getting and how i feel and why I'm buying them. Performance is of course my first and only real real priority since i want the ultimate performance for the price and items i am getting. Build: Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha. CPU: i7 6700K. CPU Cooler: Corsair H115i. RAM: Corsair Vengeance Red LED 32GB (2 x 16GB) 3000 MHz or 3200 MHz. PSU: Corsair AX860i. SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB. HHD: Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB. Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K95 RGB. Mouse: Logitech G502 RGB . System: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit. Monitor (in the future): Acer Predator X34 or X34P Thank you for your thoughts and opinions

I'm planning on buying one of these cases but I can't decide which one. Phanteks Eclipse P400 (love the look more than the Z9) or Zalman Z9 Neo Black (leaning towards this because of the drive bays but I can get by with a external dvd drive and card reader)

I'm in the process of ordering parts for my first build http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/493504-black-friday-gaming-rig-first-build/ I made this post because I'm stuck on the case. There is an option for Matte black/red: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146149&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Cases+%28Computer+Cases+-+ATX+Form%29-_-N82E16811146149&gclid=Cj0KEQiAm-CyBRDx65nBhcmVtbIBEiQA7zm8lWV93xdQOoJvfop50zEn3aE64Gu0s8bIHqNyAukYmzsaApNr8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds and another option for Matte black/red new edition: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146217 Are they the same thing? What are the advantages and disadvantages of getting the newer one over the older one and vice versa?

Basically what the title says. Overall modest set up but with a radiator of some sort depending on the case. Which do you all prefer? (especially if you own one of them) Any major cons to either case that you've noticed in use would be hugely appreciated. I know the 400C hasn't gotten into any hands so really just want to hear if the owners of the S340 would switch or stay with their current case.

Hello everybody! I've been passively looking for a PC new case for quite some time now, as my old case is kind of out-dated (feature-wise). The purpose of this topic is to expand the range of cases I have selected so far, so that I can see which case sticks the best and is therefore most likely to be my next PC case. It is not here for making a final decision on which one it should be, I shall do that myself later on when I have the time and budget. Also, I can not expect of you to write long replies, just a name and/or links will work just fine by me . My current case is a Cooler Master RC-534 Black with only two fans running (rear and side). I used to have three (one extra in the front as air intake), but it was a pretty loud fan so I removed it. The current airflow isn't the best for the 212 EVO and the GPU, resulting in some fiercely spinning GPU blades on hot summer days. The reasons for wanting to upgrade are the features, build quality and looks you get nowadays with most cases between $75 and $175. Plus, my current case does not have any dustfilters, so it fills up pretty fast with unwanted gunk. Also, I've upgraded my CPU cooler to a 212 EVO (which barely fits, ±3mm to spare). Unfortunately, this cooler leans on the fanbracket of the side ventilation and therefor creates some tension on the cooling unit. In the past few months I have watched a lot of build vlogs, product reviews and case reviews. I have made a small selection of the cases that I am interested in, each having their own pros and cons. I shall give a short summary on each of them, with some of my thoughts about it. Now polarbear in mind, I haven't been that interested in the PC parts and building since last summer, when I decided to do some upgrades myself on my system (thanks to linus&crew and other tech-reviewers). So some thoughts might sound a bit dull or overused, but that is because I don't have that much experience or knowledge. Also, that is the reason I started this topic, I do not know that much about cases. Enthoo Luxe Because of its nice looking side panel, features (lighting and fan control), big internal space (and behind the motherboard as well for the cables), EATX mounting, big air-intake fan and that black cover panel that I wish to customize (laser-cut design on a different, metal plate). Downside of this one is the size and I prefer the outer looks of the Enthoo Pro. Plus you essentially pay a bit more, just for the lighting. Enthoo Pro (pref. titanium green) Idem to the Luxe, excluding the lighting. I also prefer the design a bit more over the Luxe. The titanium green option is the compromise between the black Pro and the C70 (mentioned below) because of it's colour (C70) and features (Pro). Corsair C70 (Military green edition) I stumbled upon this case because of the new titanium green option for the Enthoo Pro, and I really liked it. I thought the theme is well and not over-implemented. Downside of this case is that it is a bit older and does not offer features like a fanhub. //edit From comments: *Obsidian D450 Optional I have also thought about the Define R5 because of that sound dampening feature and very clean design, but then again I wonder if that case is a good choice for an aircooled system. And the Corsair Graphite 760T is still on my wishlist because of its stunning design, but unless a sudden unexpected cashflow happens in the near future, I am certain that this case is out of my league. Requirements My requirements and specifications follow below. I do not expect that you check if your suggested case has all of these features, I shall check that myself. But I would appreciate if you keep these in mind while suggesting. Optimised for aircooling, but a feature for simple CPU cooling (all in one cooler with dual rad) is appreciated A minimum of 170mm clearance between the motherboard and the inside of the side panel (because of the 212 EVO) No 'gamer' case like HAF X case look-a-likes, I prefer some 'cleaner' designs (excluding the C70, because of that special theme I like) Sizing between a mid-tower and full tower, but I am leaning more towards mid-tower dimensions Side panel would be cool, I've never had one before At least two 5.25" bays At least ATX MB size, EATX isn't a problem Clearance for 12" GPU Clearance for 7.1" PSU Bottom mounted PSU Case feet (case is placed on a carpet surface) Dustfilters Price between $75 and $175, but I'll consider more expensive cases if they blow me away I would like to thank you for reading, and if applicable for replying to my topic. Kind regards, JB

Hey guys! I wanted to bring your attention to this project, currently crowdfunding to make the prototypes; The final revision of it has been discussed on Toms Hardware, with pretty positive impressions from the editors! http://www.tomshw.it/news/defcon-one-il-case-per-pc-italiano-e-cambiato-e-sta-per-arrivare-in-commercio-65959 "...A compact system, that is still capable of housing 2 GPUs and four hard drives. An unusual chassis designed to have the highest cooling performance [...] GPUs are generally the hottest component in a case, and by being the same compartment as the other parts, they contribute to raising the temperature, [here] the GPUs are still inside of the case, but have their own airflow [and draw air exclusively from the outside]...." As well as an article about our crowdfunding campaign for the prototypes on Indiegogo! "...Our best whishes [..] for the crowdfundign campaing and we'll follow the further developments! " http://www.tomshw.it/news/case-italiano-defcon-one-si-cercano-fondi-per-realizzare-i-prototipi-66991 Here are some renders of what it will look like and if you want to contribute to the campaign, here is the link http://igg.me/at/defcon-one

Hello. I know this seem to be a Case topic but I wanted a general census on what colour people buy on their product and what colour they prefer. The Define R5 has three colours - black, titanium/gray and white. I struggle between gray or white so I don't know what I should pick, so instead I'll choose what people most liked so when I decide to show off my PC to my friends hopefully will like the colour. Gray and White are some of my favourite colours so you know I cannot decide between them. So what colour do you prefer for your case (not just the Define R5 if you wish) - Black, Gray or White? Also is the gray version of the Define R5 is actually Gray? Or is it only the front panel is Gray and the rest is black? Because I cannot tell from the pictures. Thanks!
