Hello all, So one of my coworkers dropped their Lenovo IdeaPad and the hinge broke. The machine still works, just does not have a screen. It's an Intel IdeaPad 3 with the Core i3 processor. It has a 2.5" SSD in it right now loaded with a specific program called HCL Notes. Setting up her new computer from scratch would require installing this program again, which has to be done by a 3rd party tech. To avoid this downtime I was thinking about cloning the old machines drive to the new machine, but I foresee some issues with that plan. The replacement computer is an AMD ThinkPad E16 Gen1. It has an M.2 SSD. I have not even booted this machine up yet. I've imaged the ThinkPads drive to have a fallback in case something goes wrong. As far as potential problems go, I can think of a few: Versions/Editions of Windows (IdeaPad is on Windows 10 Home, ThinkPad is on Windows 11 Home) Devices (New machine is Ryzen based with an entirely different supporting architecture) Windows Activation issues? So yeah, I'm just not very confident that cloning the old drive onto the new machine will result in something that works. What do you guys think? Should I just set the machine up from scratch and have the tech configure the program? Or should I try to see if cloning the drive works out?

This is a very random and specific question, but what is the easiest way to capture an image of a dual-booted machine? I've consider WinPE but handling partitions for two different OS's with different file systems seems challenging at best.

Does a tube headphone amplifier have any impact on imaging compared to a solid state? Generally speaking, not comparing specific products.

Hi all... So i have a question for you all, more of a quandry.... I have been using the same monitor for a good 5 or so years and i have started getting light bleeding round the panel and it's just a bit tired... so i thought i would upgrade it... I thought this would be simple enough by going and buying a 27 inch IPS monitor. Not so simple it would appear. The team in my office (gamers and engineers) have told me i would be better getting a VA panel as IPS is tending to give greys instead of blacks... Then i thought.... Rather than getting something completely colour accurate would i not be better getting one of the most popular types of screen? I mean sure it's great that i can view and edit the picture to be totally accurate on my 50 inch fully colour calibrated 50billion to 1 contrast, 400%SRGB screen but if someone looks at it on their iphone it will look completely different? (not that i have that screen, just an eg) What would people recomend? I very rarely print my images and they are mostly hosted online in a compressed format or sent to the client in full res jpeg.

I have 2 issues I need to solve today. Hopefully, someone can help. Issue 1: I will be upgrading my PC, hopefully, this week, and I've been working on a Virtual machine of Windows 10 with the software I use to stream and such. But unfortunately, while Windows 10 does have a custom deployment option it fails to work when I run the commandLine. I was wondering if I can user Macrium Reflect to create an exact .iSO file to run as an installer or to be able to boot right off a physical drive so I can skip the long parts and have less downtime. Issue 2: Also, I bought an ASUS ROG Strix X470 which supports M.2 and I was wondering if someone could suggest to me a really good 1TB M.2 drive for my main OS drive as while I have perfectly working WD Blue HDDs, I was thinking of switching to SSD even though it'd only really be a help for boot times since the OS and programs get loaded into memory and SSDs are better for applications such as editing programs. OR Unless I load my OS on an HDD, but install my editing programs and plugins on an SSD since they have to do more reading and writing. And not only that but have the right type of SSD for the board.

Hey everyone Hope you are all having a good Friday and happy 10 years LTT I am hoping that I can get some insight on a windows deployment server issue I am seeing. The company I work for has a deployment server onsite so that we can image new PCs The issue is I am seeing is I am able to get the new PC to boot to the server. It loads the file and then opens up windows deployment services, but before the window opens up so that I can start a deployment the PC reboots. Out of the close to 50ish computers (laptops and desktops) I have only had this happen 2 times. So it isn't a common issue but still a problem that I would like to know how to correct and prevent if it is a workflow issue which I am doubtful of. The PCs are Lenovo T480's and Lenovo M710's.

Which of these 2 would be better for games that use HRTF audio? I can also buy different earpads if needed (like the brainwavz angled pads everyone keeps talking about) I've looked into other options such as the DT 770, but they are either unavailable or overpriced in my country. And I can't use open backs because I live with my uni roommates and they usually play or watch tv/netflix/etc so there's almost always noise. I know both options aren't optimal, but I'm neither strictly competitive, nor casual, rather something in between, so I think these should do fine as long as I can roughly tell where the footsteps/shots are coming from. Right now I have an old Edifier W830BT, music is fine on it, I use it in wired mode, and I more often than not I can not or can barely tell where the direction of the enemies are in games so that's the main reason I want to upgrade Thanks!

Hello, Right now we have an issue with our imaging server, and I am trying to make a custom install of Windows 10 Education that has all the software we need installed. I followed this guide, but I am getting error "windows Could Not Display The Images Available For Installation" when I try to use the newly created install.esd file from my bootable flash drive. After it bombed out I copied the original install.esd file from a back up ISO onto the flash drive, and everything worked again. My only note is that I did cancel my first dism attempt while making the new install.esd. I assumed this wouldn't cause any errors, but I am running it one more time to be sure. If anyone has any ideas what might be causing my issue, I would really appreciate the input. Thanks! --UPDATE-- The same error occurs with a new custom install.esd.

Hey everyone, so I thought that this would help some of the SysAdmins, Project Managers, and general helpdesk staff on the forum who have to deal with the awfulness that is the Mac Environment for imaging. At my current job we're going through the realm of ~50 2012 MacBook Pros & ~150 2015 MacBook Airs, and getting them ready for new staff, and I wanted to at least share my process for interns to go through to get them ready. If you want to add, please add any tips or better practices that you may have found in your time, as this is more likely than not the actual best practice seeing that we've wrecked our internet connection in to the building a few times. Anyways, here's my current process Do a OSX System Restore (Cmd + Alt + R, or on older firmwares just Cmd + R) Set up the account, and download OSX High Sierra (Newest OSX at the moment) Run the High Sierra Installer Install Microsoft Office off of a .iso file from a local server Mark it as done and put it in a pile

Hi guys, I have 10 surface pro 4 s in my workplace. I am trying to image it. Turned off secure boot, and tried using Hirens,it doesnt work. Ghost is now trying to fix this problem. Is there any other way for me to image this surfaces? I am tired of installing them one by one. Thanks a bunch.

Hey guys, My SSD is acting up and I think it's going to die, so time to make a full image to be prepared when the time comes. Could you guys suggest me some good programs to create a full disk image of my SSD? (Either free or paid) Would like it to have support for incremental backups to save some space, as I plan to keep using it for up-to-date backups. Automatic backup jobs would be nice too. Can I image my SSD to a Logical partition on my HDD? And more importantly, will it bootable? I have unmovable files and can't shrink the drive in any other way.

Guess what?.. Scientist have developed technique where a single-shot compressed ultrafast photography is taken at one hundred billion frames per second That is 100000000000 fps. The Technique is called compressed ultrafast photography (CUP) & it's a two-dimensional dynamic imaging technique, Don't Blink.. The Camera is , as you guessed is not an ordinary camera but a specialy designed industrial strength high-speed camera.The Purpose for the camera build is for to track light as it travels and interacts with objects , so nor regular time warp application Researchers used the technique to explore phenomenas such as how light reflects and refracts, as well as how photons behave when transitioning from one medium to another One of the purposes for the build is to Study Invisibility Cloaks, you heard that right , The camera is so fast that it can actually capture light in it's path (in 2d) what they plan to do with t the technology is to study how light intereacts & behaves on & around certain object , by learning that they can research into light interactive fabric that can behave that can bend around fabric making the object literally invisible to the naked eye.. Soon this could be a reality.. CUP System Configuration: camera setup Explanation of the image above: With CUP, the photons necessary to take an image are blasted through a beam splitter and then through a tube that has several tiny mirrors. All of this happens in one billionth of a second, and the data can then be arranged into a video on a computer Strictly speaking this is not the fastest camera in the world still..the fastest in the world as of now can capture images upto trillionth frames per second that camera was able to capture stunning picture of heat conduction, but that had so many limitations unlike this one. if only it could capture images in this 3d format The technology is impressive and quite complex. Previous cameras could record at roughly a billion frames a second, but could only do so in one dimension that meant you could measure space or time, but not both. And it was slower, anyway. My main program hard drive for the last four years or so has been a 1.5 TB western digital caviar black. I have tortured this thing over the years, and it's starting to show its age with lots of noise and longer seek times than what is healthy. I've heard of imaging hard drives before, and I've done it to whole operating systems without problem, but my dilemma is that I've never tried it with a hard drive that's only set up to save programs. My setup is that I have two corsair force GS SSDs in raid 0 and I use the western digital black drive to store data and install programs to. I'd like to be able to image my hard drive to subvert any need to reinstall, but I'm not sure what the process would be like to load up an image of just data and programs to another hard drive. can someone out there who has more experience with something like this give me a hand? If I need to reinstall it's not the end of the world, but I'd like to be able to get around it, even if just to help other people do the same.

try to back and and get a image of my hard drive so that i may replace it with an ssd so i go to backup and restore in windows and nothing is there!!!!! it looks like this what do i do?

Hi guys, I have a .dts Digital Image file. After some googling, I have found it is a special medical imaging file type that is used for images usually attained through Radiology. That is from http://filext.com/file-extension/DTS Now, a friend has said file and they need to print said image, but I cannot find any way to do so. Any help is appreciated. Does anyone know if maybe Photoshop/GIMP will recognize it and be able to convert it? I do not have the file on hand to test it out, otherwise I would. Thanks, Vitalius

Hey Guys, We recently picked up some replacement Dell Optiplex 745 (The small slimline formfactor versions) PC's as backups for our existing ones of the same model. They all run Windows XP, and have "supposedly" the same specs. I'm cloning our setup from an existing computer onto the new ones. However, the HDD's in the new ones are a different model, and are slightly smaller in size (Both are "80GB"). The issue is that clonezilla won't clone to the new HDD because it's a bit too small to fit the partition, and clonezilla doesn't support auto-resizing during cloning. I know I could just go in and manually shrink the partition a bit using GParted or something, but I'm looking for a HDD cloning program that will auto-resize the partition to the new HDD. I prefer something that runs on a Live CD/USB, but will accept something that can be installed on Windows XP. The software must be free though, as I have zero budget for this. i tried using EaseUS Partition Master free edition, because it supposedly has this feature, but when attempting to use the software, it tells me that there is not enough space on the destination drive and will not continue. I'm currently trying a program called "Raw Copy" from Roadkil. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
