For unknown reason, every time when I tried to download something through Google Chrome (E.g. Dropbox file). The bowser automatically open up Windows 11's "Default App setting" and asking to set Google Chrome as the default browser. If this behavior continues, I have no choice but stop using Google Chrome. E.g. Downloading Crystal Disk Info. Anyone else is getting this problem? My Chrome version: Version 114.0.5735.134 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Hello there, I noticed that power saver mode is back to annoy me. Last time (3-4 months ago) I had the same issue but managed to find some flag setting in chrome that turned the power saver mode off. The "fun" fact is that I am on a PC. The issue: power saver mode is ON every time I open chrome. I can turn it off but only for that session. If I close chrome and reopen it, it will be back on. In chrome's performance settings there is nothing about power saving, although it should be there as far as I know. My windows power management is set to "balanced" but within that I have everything cranked up to the max. I have a pretty regular pc: ryzen 5800X stock, 32 gigs of ram, 1080ti, running up to date windows 10 pro 22H2. That's all I can say. Please HALP!!! Cheers

Sometimes I regularly open a new Google Chrome window and end up creating a bunch of tabs, forgetting about my original Google Chrome window with a bunch of it's own tabs... I then have to drag and drop each tab from Window to the other and can take a long-time if I have many tabs + if they are YouTube videos, they automatically play as well when I do this which is frustrating... Is there an instant / quicker way to merge the two windows together so that all the tabs appear under one Google Chrome window? (Hopefully I am making sense.)

This happens occasionally that a website doesn't load properly or chome says "it doesnt exist all together" though site works on incognito. I've tried almost everthing from clearing cache, disabling extentions and reinstalling chrome. Its very frustrating. Any suggestions?

Hello, I have problem with Google Chrome (microsoft edge also shows it) when i'm dragging chrome to the 2nd monitor it lags very much but when i add parameters to .exe such as " --ignore-gpu-blacklist --disable-direct-composition" it doesn't lag anymore next temporary fix is to disable hardware acceleration but that gives me bad performance on 4k60fps+ videos. The issue is with me for around 6 months. I'm running windows 11 beta(on stable version problem is still there) I'm out of ideas why that happend and why it's still with me after that long. If you guys know any permament fix to make it work normal without these commands please tell. I tried: - reinstalling chrome - windows update - update chrome - format pc (cloud dowload and iso on usb stick) - update every driver - Disable animation - Adjusting windows to best performance My setup: AMD Radeon 6800xt Ryzen 5900x 16 GB Ram 4400MHz CL19 Monitor 1: WQHD 75hz Monitor 2: WQHD 144hz Monitor 3: 4k 60hz Video that I recorded showing the issue:

Windows Explorer Slows to a Crawl (Google Chrome to blame?)
fleezy posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hello, Just built a 'fresh' pc (kinda): - Gigabyte X570 GAMING X - Ryzen 5 2600 - AMD RX580 8gb (brought over from old PC) - 32gb DDR4 Crucial Ballistix 3600MHz C16 RAM (XMP OFF) - 1000w Antec PSU - Kraken Z63 I am not new to PC building, but I'm not great at diagnosing. I am currently experiencing a problem that seems to only occur when watching Youtube or listening to Youtube Music: 1. Open youtube/youtube music 2. Listen/watch for a decent while 3. Video freezes, or music stops. 4. System slows a crawl. 4a. Chrome is still responsive, yet very slow internally, however minimizing and maximizing the window is not affected. 4b. M+kb input is affected in chrome. M+kb input doesn't seem affected in W-Explorer 4c. Windows does not let me restart/log off through the OS and I have to hard-reset the PC. 4d. Force-closing Chrome does not remedy the slow-down. 5. RAM RGB animation (is on a 'flash' setting) halts 5a. This led me to believe there was a memory issue 5b. sfc /scannow results in no errors 5c. memtest results in no errors 5d. Windows Event Viewer does not log an errors, just shows the unexpected reset 5e. I thought maybe it was the RAM RGB Software, so I set my rgb to static and closed Ballistix M.O.D and removed it from start-up. This was not a solve 6. Task Manager performance logs freeze, but memory usage doesn't break 20% Attempts at fixing thus far: 1. Updated Windows10 (currently on 20H2) 2. Reinstalled Windows10 3. Clean install of Chrome 4. Disabled Hardware Acceleration in Chrome I cannot determine any pattern or timing of this, but it seems to happen after some time without M or KB input. Not sure if that is relevant, I have 0 power-saving settings active. Any help would be simply lovely. Note: I had RGB Fusion installed, but it was a piece of garbage, so it's gone. I am using none of Gigabytes software currently. too many horror stories.- 4 replies

To start off, I'm new here so if i make any mistake or forget to put something on here then please bare with me. I am happy for anyone to reply and if you need more information I don't mind giving it (reasonable information). The problem I am having is that when I am downloading an .iso file (E.g. Ubuntu) it takes way to long than it should be. I can do an internet speed test before and during the download and I am getting 300+ megabits per second but when downloading the .iso file it's going up very slowly. For example, I have a Ubuntu .iso download downloading right now and it's 2.5 GB big and Chrome is saying it's going to take about an hour to download it and that time is fluctuating. Not only that but I am connected via Ethernet and during download task manager is saying that it's receiving 3.5 Mbps and only sometimes going above 10 Mbps. Web pages seem to load fast and snappy and I've tried to install other items like the Chrome Launcher to see if it's just my internet or the website and things like that seem to download fast and fine. Also, only a week or a few days ago I was trying to download a different .iso file from the Lenovo website and I was getting the same problem then. At that time, I just assumed it was the website and didn't think much of it but since it seems I'm getting the same problem again I think it's something to do with my PC. Any help would be much appreciated as I don't want to wait around for ages just download a .iso file. I am using Google Chrome and I have the Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I217-LM if that's any help. Many thanks in advance, ComputerUser

Hello Linus Media Group and all the members of LTT Forum! This is my first thread and I hope it would solve my problem. I have posted this issue on many reputed forums like Google Forum, Microsoft Community, yahoo Answers, etc. but the problem wasn't resolved. Actually my chrome's almost untreatable problem has forced me to upgrade to another version of Win 10 x64. The error details are: Once every 5-10 minutes a random, disgusting, and toooo much terrible-to-name redirect link opens up and I have to get rid of it everytime! Honestly, it is so much annoying that I can't describe you...Rest there is not even a single issue in my OS except this. I have tried almost every possible Anti-Malware service (like MalwareBytes premium, Bitdefender Total Security 2017 Trial (not expired), ASC Ultimate 10 latest cracked, etc.) that the internet has to offer me and still some of these sometimes do block the links from auto-opening but I am looking forward to remove the **** outta my computer completely and forever!! I even tried to remove the the frustrating redirect link and its associated processes located in C:\Windows\System32\Tasks Initially, this thing started when I mistakedly installed a Back-end-filled-malware NFS 15 KeyGen.exe to my pc !!! UUUURRRGGGGGHHH ! Pls help me out or I will probably be forced by this above mentioned issue to install a new version of windows!

As it happens, Google Chrome is installed on one of my computers (Windows 10 Home Insider Release Preview) in two instances: beta and Canary. Both instances were linked to one of my google accounts. Today, there was an issue that was coming up on the browser in which if I tried to click on the web page details (where it says secure and has a lock), the menu does not pop up. In addition, if I click the user's name in the upper right hand corner where a profile select menu normally comes up, it also does not pop up. This was the case in both instances of Chrome even after disabling all of the extensions and removing my account from both instances. However, I know that those two should be clickable because in another installation of Chrome with my same account synced on it on another one of my computers with an equivalent version (beta 58.something) and a equivalent version of Windows 10, the menus are able to come up. Therefore, it most likely has to something with the installation of Chrome on this computer. Thus, I tried to uninstall Google Chrome from this computer. I tried to uninstall the Canary section first, first using Control Panel. No dice. Nothing came up, not even a Windows permission screen for Google Updater etc. Next, I tried to uninstall it from the Settings app, which has been updated with the Creators update in Settings>>Apps>>Apps and Features. This time, a Windows permission screen came up, and a new Chrome canary window icon appeared in the taskbar to the right of all my pinned apps. It was titled "Uninstall Google Chrome" when hovering over it, but the preview and the app itself was blank, meaning that I could see right through to the settings app underneath it. I closed this window using the 'x' that is shown on the edge of the window preview after leaving it alone for 5 minutes and having nothing come up. Running through the same thing (control panel first, then the Win10 settings app) for the beta version, the exact same result happens. Now what should I do to fix the problem?

I am using my laptop with an external monitor. Laptop has a 720p screen (non-retina macbook pro) (lol) and external monitor's resolution is 2560x1440. So everytime I connect and disconnect my laptop, I gotta adjust the size of web pages. On my laptop I use zoom in 100% and on my external display I use 150%. Otherwise the texts are gonna be too small. Is there any extension can let me do this in an easier way? It is getting annoying having to adjust manually every single time.

Hello! I have a Lenovo Y700 15ACZ Gaming Laptop! I recently installed Chrome (with no existing extensions) to see if it can replace Firefox. Everything was going well until I tried watching 60fps video on YouTube. I checked task manager to find that my system was at 60-90% CPU usage while watching those videos! I tried searching around some forums to try and fix this issue. For example: I downloaded the h264ify extension, went into incognito mode, cleared everything, disabled hardware acceleration, reinstalled Chrome, and scanned for viruses and malware. I did a test with the same video quality in Firefox as well, and Firefox only plays videos at 20-30%. What do I do to fix this? I really like some of Chrome's features, but it's a shame I can't do simple tasks without running into issues! Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is it time to make browsers great again? Mozilla says yes. Source: CNET, Medium I don't know about you but browser wars never really made me excited. Remember back in 2010 when Microsoft was forced to respond to the reality that IE users are ditching it in favor of other browsers so they introduced Internet Explorer 9 which Microsoft claims the first browser to do GPU-accelerated browsing to make it fast. But the problem is that, IE 9's rendering engine Trident falls short when it comes to HTML5 compatibility. Now, Google Chrome is the most HTML5 compliant browser Project Quantum is basically what Microsoft did with Internet Explorer 9 up to Edge. Would Firefox 57 really shake up browsers again? From what they're saying, it's JIT compiling and GPU acceleration although anyone can correct me on this. What? Why? Hopefully performance and stability is better on Firefox 57. I encourage everyone to read the CNET article. But from the looks of it, Firefox is playing catch up with Chrome. Firefox 57 is also the update which will introduce multi-threaded processes just like Edge and Chrome. Hopefully they'll add sandboxing too. IE 7 I think was the first browser to do sandboxing by leveraging low privileges to the browser. Google Chrome implemented it better by sandboxing every tab opened so that if one tab crashes, the rest of the other tabs will remain unaffected and they even sandboxed Adobe Flash and other browser plugins. "Mozilla didn’t just survive. It’s gotten to a better place,” Beard says. “We’re back and we’re ready for the fight.” *Looking at this picture, I think Mozilla ripped off Daredevil's mask.

I really enjoy using safari on mac... it is so snappy and the typography on it is better than chrome. And not even mention that it is buttery smooth. The only thing I couldn't get used to is the bookmark bar... text only??? Come on....

Hey guys! I've been working on an update for my old chrome new tab page extension Fruumo. It was very popular between 2013-2015 and its popularity died down recently due to the lack of updates and bugs. I've rewritten the entire thing and released on the chrome webstore. With fruumo you get the benefits of the other new tab page extensions, which really good while maintaining the usefulness and ease of use of the default new tab page. It'd be great if everyone could check it out and give me some feedback on how I could improve it. You can download it from www.fruumo.com
