Summary Nearly 20 years after the debut of LiMux, the project where the city of Munich, as well as Lower Saxony, migrated the majority of their computer systems from Microsoft Windows to a custom Linux distribution before being cancelled in 2017, someone else is now ready to take on the challenge. This time, it's the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Citing the goals of independence, sustainability, and security, the state is planning on migrating its 30,000 computers to Linux and other open source software. Quotes My thoughts I hope them the best. Chipping away at Microsoft's business monopoly is always a good thing. Budget (including currency): €3000 Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA games, some photo editing and minimal coding (last two due to work but I usually use my MacBook for that) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I would also like to know which monitor you recommend with, ideally, 244 Hz. Hello! First-time poster, long-time watcher. After years of only using MacBooks basically for work, I am looking to build a gaming PC and my budget is ~€3000. The main goal here is to get something that can run AAA games without a problem and do some photo editing. I would like something that can last for some years without having to upgrade every X months or that reaches bottlenecks. I have asked an online shop what components they would propose and they have shared these: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/M72zHG The quoted price in their shop is ~€2600 so there is some room in the budget to upgrade some stuff. I was thinking mainly about changing the CPU to a Ryzen 9 7950X3D and the power supply to 1000W but happy to know your thoughts based on your experience! I'm not interested in RGB or fancy colours, I prefer to invest in performance and longevity. Also, the shop has recommended air cooling the machine as it has less points of failure and less maintenance is needed.

pc build Gaming PC build for a friend - Germany - ~1000€
Hyiras posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Budget: Around 1000€ (after taxes) Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Very diverse, from League of Legends to Cyberpunk 2077, they also play VR quite often and are planning on getting an Valve Index(currently using an HTC Vive). As well as some editing of models for VRChat in unity. They're also an artist but as far as I am aware, the programs they use don't really require any significant "horsepower". They also livestream from time to time. Currently using a 1080p 60Hz monitor but I can imagine them upgrading to 1440p, possibly 165Hz or more, down the line. Hi there, my friend recently asked me to put together a new pc for them. They're still running an FX-8530 + GTX 1060 6GB and to noones surprise, are extremely sick of that machines performance. Since the budget is around 1000€ I figured to just put together a completely new machine since the 1060 is also showing its age, here's the build so far: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/xyLgTn The aim is of course to build a good system for the money. After all it doesn't take much to outperform their current PC ;D Right, no peripherals needed in the build. Also no monitors. Just the PC itself. I'd love to hear some second opinions about the build and if I overlooked anything. I also considered the 5800x but didn't want to build them something where the upgradeability is pretty limited plus the performance of the 7600x looks very promising, not to mention the other chips on the platform, that's why i went with AM5 for now. The case is more symbolic than anything, just something cheap that would get the job done since I am already over the 1000€. I'll be discussing that specifically with them soon since it's also a preference relevant choice. But any suggestions for the case within a reasonable "price span" are appreciated Oh, it needs 3.5" HDD mounts since they certainly would want to reuse at least one of their harddrives. The motherboard and RAM are the parts where I'm most uncertain. I'll be honest, it's been a while since I build a PC and I'm not really in the loop of things anymore. Both seem to be fine and fitting for the build, including all necesarry features(if not more), but yeah, there's just alot out there these days. So for those parts especially any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Oh and if I forgot any information, please let me know. Thank you in advance -
Summary After the German license reseller "Lizengo" was busted for selling illegibly obtained keys (Source German), the German department of justice targets now buyer of those keys. They obtained buyers information's and opened criminal cases in "a low five digit's range" according to golem.de. This seems to target mainly buyer who brought keys for unreasonably low prices. In a small number of cases, the German department of justice also seem to be conducting house searches when initial investigations were not promising enough. Under German law, obtaining a software key and not holding a License for it, is punishable for a private person with no intend to reselling up to 3 years in Prison. Quotes My thoughts I think this whole case is very clever from Microsoft as MS does not directly sues everyone who does use a dirt cheap key, but relies on the German law that enforces the law agencies to procecute everyone who is known to have broken a federal law. It again shows that all those keys that are "to cheap to be real" arent. Budget (including currency): 650€ Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games, working Other details: Upgrading from a slow laptop, I have a GTX 750 lying around, I could use it and upgrade later, no periphials. Hey everyone, Thanks for helping me out.My old laptop is not doing it anymore, I need a PC. I am not sure what to look out for when buying a PC. Espacially I need assistance with buying a compatible case and motherboard. I will use the pc to play some, partially quite demanding games, with my friends. Disclaimer: I don't need to be able to play Cyberpunk at max settings, I'm fine with running low settings as long as the experience is fluid so I can enjoy the time with my friends. My Dad got a new PC and I kept his GTX 750. I could use that and get a new GPU around christmas if that helps with maxing out my build and/or with the current GPU shortage. I would also be willing to buy used parts if it gives me better performance. I want to be able to upgrade later as well. This will me my first build, so if you have any important tips/guides that will help me NOT mess up while building, tell me please If any of you would take their time to advice me with what parts to buy, what options I have and giving tips, I would be really happy! (Also I know that some parts aren't avalable in Germany that would be in the USA, but I'll just look for similair alternatives) + I like ssd's. +If I use my GTX 750, what could I upgrade from this: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor €184.99 @ Caseking Motherboard ASRock B550M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard €103.71 @ Computeruniverse Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory €83.97 @ Amazon Deutschland Storage Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive €95.90 @ Amazon Deutschland Case Phanteks Eclipse P360A ATX Mid Tower Case €75.89 @ Caseking Power Supply EVGA BQ 600 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply €66.39 @ Alza Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total €610.85 Generated by PCPartPicker 2021-04-11 12:09 CEST+0200

Hi everybody, I'm planning on traveling to Germany on september and I'm considering buying a new PC case for my computer. The one the I currently have is the Meshify C, which is a wonderful case, but is has several problems design-wise, like the front panel flter which is a pain to clean, and a little bit of damage. By damage I mean that some of the pcie screws are stripped (the two ones that hold the gpu on the x16 slot). Anyways, I plan on buying a Meshify 2 Compact Dark TG and bring it on my checked luggage. I'm traveling with my little brother so his checked baggage will be mostly empty aside from clothes. The question is, it is doable and worth the hassle? Buying it in my country (Uruguay), is almost impossible without importing it from overseas, and taxes are outrageously high so buying it would be more than double the price of the pc case.

Budget (including currency): ~3000 EUR Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly programming in different languages (also highly concurrent stuff, databases, etc.). I will also run a virtualized Windows system for work and a little gaming, Other details: I've already made this list of components that I think would fit (my biggest uncertainty, though, is the RAM). I chose the GPU and PSU because I already own them. The system will run Linux (Arch) with a virtualized Windows system (that's the reason for the 2 NICs, so I can have a dedicated one for the VM). I'm only playing Final Fantasy 14 (the GPU is at about 75% load, so that shouldn't be a problem). The appearance of the system is completely irrelevant, as it will only be under my desk. I use 3 monitors (2x FHD and 1x UWQHD) at 60Hz, of which only the UWQHD monitor is used for gaming. What do you think of my selection?

Moving to Germany and need PC store advice
darth_626 posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Howzit. I am moving to Germany in November for 5 months and would like to purchase a gaming machine for while I am there. I would like to purchase a laptop but am unsure on what websites to look at and trust in the region other than Amazon. Are there any sites that I should look at for buying a laptop as opposed to only Amazon? Thanks -
I'm sure all these cards have already been compared, however pricing is...different. And I also think that at the end of the day, a 1060 6GB is a 1060 6GB. With exception of the EVGA FTW+ and Asus STRIX OC cards, there seems to be no real significance to factory overclocked versions (on paper), however some factory OC cards come with superior cooling solutions such as the heat sink on the EVGA SuperClocked Gaming. So, how do these cards compare regarding these prices and concerning things like distributor/manufacturer support? Inno3D Twin X2 - N106F-2SDN-N5GS - 255,59€ KFA2 EX OC - 60NRH7DVM6EK - 259,80€ PNY - GF1060GTX6GEPB - 277,90€ PNY XLR8 - KF1060GTXXG6GEPB - 312,00€ EVGA SuperClocked Gaming - 06G-P4-6163-KR - 273,95€ (Single fan) EVGA Gaming - 06G-P4-6262-KR - 309,85€ EVGA SuperSuperClocked Gaming - 06G-P4-6267-KR - 315,00€ EVGA FTW Gaming - 06G-P4-6268-KR - 329,00€ EVGA FTW+ Gaming - 06G-P4-6368-KR - 316,49€ ASUS STRIX - 90YV09Q1-M0NA00 - 323,95€ ASUS STRIX OC - 90YV09Q0-M0NA00 - 328,95€ Hope that isn't too tedious. EDIT: Oh, and I'll be running a mATX case with two 120mm fans in the front and one 120mm fan in the back as well as the power supply venting heat out the back. I have been recommended the EVGA SuperClocked Gaming (single ACX 2.0 fan) as it has a cheap but effective cooling solution as well as a mild factory OC.

So my point should be pretty obvious. I've not been able to find a good source of old hardware in/around germany. I always see people posting amazing deals they found on newegg and such, but yeah. None in germany. Does anybody have some input?

My Budget is very limited but i want to Upgrade my PC. 1. Budget & Location I'm from Germany and have about 500€ that i can spend for sure. The currency is €. 2. Aim I'm playing games like GTA V and Overwatch, sometimes CS:GO. Planning to buy Battlefield in near future 3. Monitors Using two Monitors all the time. One is Full HD and the other one 1024*768. Would like to connect my TV but I'm to lazy to buy a long enough HDMI-Cable. Maybe upgrading to 2* Full HD. 4. Peripherals No Peripherals needed. 5. Why are you upgrading? I think my CPU is to slow. This should be the main problem but I need a new HDD or SSD because my current HDD is already full since 2 years and I can't figure out which files I should delete anymore. Diagnosis: GTA V running at lowest settings: Still lags and Maploading issues. I think the GPU is fine. Overwatch same: No significant drop in framerate if i put up the graphic settings. CS:GO is hard to tell. Most time stable, sometimes framerate drops to like 5 FPS. Sometimes even when browsing the web with firefox or chrome i have slight performance issues. Watching Youtube-Videos at FHD-60FPS pushs the CPU in Task-Manager to 98-99% but works with one or two bigger lags in 10 minutes. Would like to record my Gameplay as well. Some friends of mine are making great Youtube-Videos and I would like to go along as I did like 5 years ago, when Youtube was really small. Trying to use Premiere or free Software like Hitfilm 4 Express and cutting FHD footage is a headache. I know my GPU is like very low end today but i just bought it for 40€ from a friend of mine who build an awesome 1600€ machine a month ago. I would like to link his build log on Youtube but its German so You will never see it. My diagnosis tells me that my current bottleneck is my CPU. Upgrading it to an 7700K would be really expensive: Processor + Mainboard + DDR4 Ram + Power Supply + new Case (because my old is microATX or miniATX... i dont know the correct name) would be round about 700€. Any Suggestions? Edit: I know my English is pretty basic, but still I hope you can understand my problems.

Original article by C|Net Steven Musil A failed attempt to hijack consumer routers is being blamed for network outages that left hundreds of thousands of people in Germany without internet service this weekend. Around 900,000 of Deutsche Telekom's 20 million network customers were affected by the outages, which began Sunday and lingered into Monday, the German telecommunications giant said in a statement. The attack was designed to quietly recruit the devices for a wider offensive, the second such large-scale attack on internet-connected devices in little more than a month, the company said. "The attack attempted to infect routers with a malware but failed, which caused crashes or restrictions for 4 [percent] to 5 percent of all routers," the company said in a statement. "This led to a restricted use of Deutsche Telekom services for affected customers." The company said it is rolling out a software update to fix the issue. It also recommended that customers temporarily disconnect their routers from their power source to reboot them free of the malware. On Tuesday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the origin of the attack remains unknown as investigators continue to examine the incident. She also cautioned that people should expect similar disruptions down the road. "Such attacks are a part of everyday life and people have to get used to them," Merkel said, according to a Reuters report. A similar attack occurred in late October, when hackers used what's known as a distributed denial of service attack (DDoS) -- conscripting hordes of internet-connected devices like computers, routers and security cameras into a botnet that rendered dozens of popular websites inaccessible for several hours. First published November 28 at 5:30 p.m. PT. Updated November 29 at 7:13 a.m. PT: Added comments from German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Hey there, I hate to annoy you guys with this, but it really gets me that I am unable to give my money to LMG over the forum. In Germany PayPal doesn't allow the kind of subscription you are using, Patreon isn't a problem though. Maybe you could change the subscription settings or just add a single payment 1 year version If it is more work for you guys, just make it more expensive.

This is a bit older but I thought it would be interesting for you guys here. So last year the police of the german capital Berlin was inquiring the cell phone data of every inhabitant of the city 32 times a year or every 11 Days. This was made public by the center-left government of the city which wanted to show the public some statistics for more transperency. The privacy advocators at the website of netzpolitik.org summarized the government report in a more readable way and found out that the technology is mostly used for "smaller" crimes like theft and robbery. I personally think this is a big step forward in transperancy of surveillance technologies but also shows us to what extend governments/polices use these on innocent people. Because while looking for one or a group of persons they inquire the cell phone data of tens of thousands of people. So what do you think about this? Hey guys, Youtube Red did not officially launch in Germany but I have to see Mindfield by Vsauce and I would be delighted if the ads are gone and the creators get some more money. Is it possible to buy a Youtube Red subscription with something like tunnelbear and then use the side as usual without a VPN? Greetings Helge

Greetings from Germany I don't know what to do with my wifi connection. Not long ago I upgraded my router to be able to do 5ghz. I then upgraded my pc's wifi card with a PCE-AC68 to be able to use the 5ghz. I'm also using the extended antennas for better connection instead mounting them behind the computer. I have also installed a wifi connection extender to have better wifi connection in my house. However when I unplug the internet cable from my pc which is connected with the connection extender. I get a standard upload speed of 2.5mbits even tho the program that comes with PCE-AC68 shows that I have a 800mbs in total. And when ever I'm using the antennas I have 2.5 mbits upload and a 2-0 mbits download even tho the download is usually 90 mbits with the cable which I have connected to the wifi connection extender. For some reason I can't finde a solution on the internet. Is there a way to use the full potential of the 5ghz connection? Hope this makes sense in some way. Thanks in advanced for any sort of help I get (:
