Hey, fellas. First off, I'd like to apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong thread. Unless I missed it (Which is quite likely) I couldn't find a more fitting place to ask for assistance with this. Now, the real problem: I'm in desperate need of a new desk chair, but I know nothing about em'; Size, brands, reliability, or what to look for. It's all foreign speak to me, so I find myself in quite a bind. Tried reading other forums, reviews, etc, but none really gave me any good leads and felt more like they were based on what was the most gamery a gamer could game on. I also couldn't make heads or tails of some of the more in-depth reviews, so I was really hopin' some folk here more knowledgeable than I could spare some assistance. Ya' see, my current chair has been bothering me quite badly for a bit now. The hydraulic(?) or whatever is used to increase it's height has given up the ghost and is constantly dropping itself almost to the floor. As a moderately tall fellow, this makes it an ergonomic nightmare for me. Secondly, this thing's killer on my lower back and legs. I regularly get up to stretch or do some light exercises to help just generally, but if I'm in this thing for more than a few hours, which is quite common as I do college online and keep gettin' sucked into all the great games this year, I end up going to bed feeling like I took a Chevy to my lumbar and scoliosis will be on me come morning. I put my pillow on it which helps a bit, but only delays the inevitable really. Again, I know nothin' about what to look for or size or all that, so here's just some general information for anyone if it could help lead to a better discovery; I'm about 6'1" (185-ish cm) and 157lbs, with some real long legs and a tall desk that make it so I need the chair to sit high to be comfortable and not be splayed out like that old South Park WoW player. Don't really care none about design, aesthetics, or fancy features like heating and cooling. I'm purely interested in ergonomics and makin' sure I don't end up the Hunch Back of Notre Dame before I even finish my degree. General pain, soreness, stiffness, etc in my current chair is largely in my lower back and my legs. Don't really know anything about brands, but I'd really anything new to be durable and last as long as possible. Had a DXRacer(?) once as a gift, and the material got all flakey after a few years. Still haven't fully managed to remove it all from my carpet. Don't much care for material, so long as it's comfortable and doesn't leave me sweating like a pig in heat in the hellish summers I have to deal with. Don't have any material allergies either. Only requirement here is no genuine leather or other animal based products, for personal reasons. Never found leather chairs comfortable any how. As for cost, I saw some truly hellish prices during my searches. Seriously who in the hell is willin' to shell for $3.4k for a chair?! I ain't flush with cash at the current, but I'm genuinely concerned enough about my spinal health that I'm willin' to dig into my emergency savings if need be, so my cap is $1,400 MAX, and I would REALLY like to get nowhere close to that if able... And that's about all I can think of at current, though if there's any other specifics I'm not thinking of, I'll answer as fast as I can. Thanks for takin' the time to read this if ya' got this far, and apologies again if this is the wrong thread for this, but I'm genuinely in a bind here, so if there's anyone that can render aid I would be more than grateful. I'll keep looking at at other options as well, but it's hard for me to tell anything about a chair sight-unseen. Thanks again!

Hi everyone! I've had tendonitis in my wrists, particularly the right one, from using a mouse and keyboard for a few years, but it's gotten bad recently. I've already made sure that my setup is as ergonomic as possible with the gear I have, and I switched to a 60% keyboard so my hands are parallel with my shoulders while playing games, which I think did help somewhat. And I do wear a brace and ice it regularly. But my mouse hand is still pretty bad. I've been using a logitech G402 for years, and I think it may be a lot of the problem. I was looking at vertical 'ergonomic' mice and wanted to know everybody's thoughts on these. Most are expensive but I did find this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MZB4MYL/ref=as_li_ss_tl?pf_rd_r=QQ59Y584ENM7E581QY0V&pf_rd_p=ab873d20-a0ca-439b-ac45-cd78f07a84d8&linkCode=sl1&tag=ergotrends-20&linkId=1fdc8e4306a5d1149483f263bf133cd4&language=en_US&th=1 Which is so cheap I might just pick it up even if I'm not sure I'll like it. Does anyone have experience with RSI/tendonitis and/or using mice like this? Other solutions? Thanks!

So very simply I really liked the ergonomics of my old Deathadder chroma (2016 I think) which broke a few years ago, I have had the Deathadder elite and razer viper ultimate as well and I'm just curious before I possibly buy one off eBay if anyone knows of a mouse that is similar size and shape to the Deathadder chroma that might be newer or just better

I feel like a lot of the peeps on this forum are 'fairly' young being in low 30's or younger in terms of the majority (just a guess based on the posts I see). However, for those of you that have been sitting at a desk for 15+ years pretty much daily, do you find you are now experiencing pain issues due to bad ergonomics & posture you may have constantly done when you were younger or may even still do out of habit? For example, slouching in a chair (backwards is a big one I do), incorrect eye level monitor height, knees not at 90° angle, feet not flat on the ground, sitting down for hours without the 15min P/h break, etc. Anything you would change if you could go back and tell your younger self or is the pain/discomfort just a minor issue and forgettable?

Hi, I have a Logitech G815 keyboard and I have been really happy with it, But I think I need a low profile wrist rest to help make it slightly more comfortable. I am looking at the glorious slim wrist rest. I was wondering If anyone has had experience with this rest with either the G815/915 and if you have any better recommendations? Lately I am getting pain in my left wrist (my WASD-ing hand) and by process of experimentation it seems like the soreness is coming from having to "break" my wrist to the outside (in the direction of my little finger). I understand this can lead to a condition called ulnar deviation, and as much time as I spend on computers by necessity and choice I have been worried for some time about developing carpal tunnel or related conditions. Basically to relieve the soreness it seems like I need to be able to keep my wrist straight. The only way to do this for my left hand would be to rotate my whole keyboard clockwise, but then obviously my right wrist would have to "break" even worse to type. So I've started looking into ergonomic keyboards. Most of the ones on the market are cheap membrane crap like this and I am not willing to sacrifice the responsiveness of mechanical switches. The only mechanical ergonomic keyboards I have been able to find are the Kinesis Freestyle Edge (and its predecessors by Kinesis) and this model on Amazon, the Cloud Nine C989M. I am leaning strongly towards the Freestyle Edge because I know Kinesis is at least an established company that's been around a while, whereas I have never heard of Cloud Nine before (no, they do not appear to be associated with the esports organization Cloud9), and I also prefer the more compact design of the Kinesis (I have been using TKL keyboards for some time). The only thing that gives me pause is that many reviews say that the "tenting" kit for the Kinesis is really a necessity, but they sell it separately for an extra $25 on top of $200 for the keyboard itself which kind of pisses me off. The Cloud Nine at least comes with tenting, albeit at a fixed angle. So before I plunk out the cash: does anyone here have any personal experience with either of these products, especially the Freestyle Edge? Or are there any other ergo mechanical switch options I should be aware of? Edit: I should mention my favorite switch type is Brown, I could maybe live with Reds and Blues are a non-starter.

Long story short: Really broke, no money for a desk, only got some piece of furniture that has around the same height of a desk but no legroom, back constantly hurts, relatives think I should get out from the "virtual reality" (except that I'm a software developer, so I need my PC for more besides checking my e-mails, Facebook and playing "Super Marios"), I gave up all hopes on trying to educate them after three times I told them I'm not qualified to be a CNC programmer but still thought I'm a know-it-all computer superguy (Still might ending up as a system administrator due to lack of local jobs and the aforementioned stuff, and despite me knowing nothing about Linux or building networks). I have some scrap wood lying around and some minimal woodwork capabilities. I think I could build something so my back won't get even worse and probably increase my production (as I might have to work from home) until I have money for a desk, right after paying my college (if I get money in time and won't drop out) and buying a new monitor to replace the current dying one. Is there some idea I could copy for example some lap solution?

Hello, I am a developer and I experience some pretty bad wrist pain after typing, I am fairly young and I'm afraid it won't improve so want to buy an better keyboard. I have heard that the kinesis advantage 2 is very good but unfortunately it is VERY expensive, on the other hand I can buy a microsoft ergonomic keyboard for only about 40$. Is it worth it to spend that much more for the kinesis? ~Thanks alot

Hello, a student here, looking for a decent and affortable chair. What do you guys think about this one? It has a nice amount of padding, a curve in the lowerback support and can be ajusted in the armrest, height and a little bit in the yz axis... I know I know, it is not amazing but still seems to be a good option It cost like US$65 Sorry if you have trouble reading this, not a native speaker

Since my first couple PC's were laptops, I've always been more used to typing flat and I'm rather inaccurate, especially on certain keys, with it raised. Curious what the split is like with everyone else.

Hey dudes, like most of you, I spend the majority of my time on a computer, at work or home. I'm definitey noticing discomforts with non-ergonomic equipment. Most notibly, I'm feeling it with my right hand. So, I've been looking for a verical mouse with advanced features like variable polling rate, dpi options and etc. After scrounging the internet for such a mouse, I was able to find the Unimouse from Contour Design, and gxt 144 rexx GAMING mouse from Trust International. I currently use a gladius II from asus and love the fact that the switches can be replaced. This Allows the customer to save money by giving the mouse a far longer life time. While both the mice I've been researching have all the features I'm looking for, I have confirmed with both manufacturers, that they are not supposed to be repairable by the consumer. If anyone has any suggestions/verticle mice in mind, please let me know!

Hello, I have a 23-inch Apple Cinema Display that I'm wanting to use with a VESA mount. I am 6'4, and have measured that I'll need the mount to reach at least 20 inches (51cm) above my desk for optimal ergonomics. My budget is ~$100 USD, though I can go higher if I have to. I'm sick of using this monitor on a box that still isn't tall enough. Bonus points if the mount can handle 20lb (9kg) so when I upgrade to an ultrawide monitor there'll be minimum fuss. There are these WALI and Mount-It! stands I have found that fit my criteria. For the mount adapter I have found these three, AMER Mounts, Human Centric 1, and Human Centric 2. Link to my r/buildapc thread. I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations, thank you!

I’ve noticed this for a long time now. The part of my wrist I showed in the image attachment is less sensitive and the skin feels thicker too. After using the mouse for a while, it burns and stings a little too. What can I do about this problem?

https://appleinsider.com/articles/18/08/20/logitech-reveals-its-first-vertical-mouse-the-mx-vertical https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/mx-vertical-ergonomic-mouse "Logitech has revealed the MX Vertical, a new Mac and Windows mouse intended to reduce muscle strain for some people by putting the wrist in a less stressful position." Would love to see LTT review this product. A new ergonomic peripheral from a mainstream peripheral company seems right up their alley. It connects via Bluetooth, USB-C, or a dongle (not sure whether it's a USB-A dongle or what).

I said in another post that I was worried about the risk of RSI and related conditions through the use of chiclet keyboards, and I was curious if anyone has spent a significant amount of time with the Logitech K780 multi-device keyboard. I'm considering buying it for use with my first PC Build, as well as my current daily driver Acer Chromebook 15. I'd like to be able to put these devices and my phone at my desk/docked in the keyboard while working, and this keyboard, (along with something akin to a Mx Master 2s) seems to be the perfect combination. However, I'm worried that 3/4 months down the line I might not enjoy using it, and wanted to know if anyone had any words of warning/wisdom? Is it comfortable to use? Do you use the device switching feature as much as you thought you would? Does the keyboard, particularly the crispness of the keys/their action, wear out fast? Is the manufactured incline good enough ergonomically or do you need to adjust your posture/keyboard positioning in order to accommodate it? Many thanks

I'm building my first PC and (much to the despair of my gamer friends) I want a laptop-style chiclet keyboard. Something like the Apple Magic Keyboard or the Surface Keyboard. They tried many ways to convince me mechanical keyboards are better ("but they click!!" "rgb!!!" "street cred!") but none convinced me, except their claim that the "bottoming out" when you type on a chiclet keyboard is very bad for your fingers. They said that the tiny, repeated stops are unhealthy for your hands, and that the fact that you can type on a mechanical keyboard without bottoming out the keys is why they are ergonomically superior. I don't type much more that the average person, and aside from a couple sore wrists after gaming sessions, I've never suffered from RSI or the like. Is there any substance to their claims, and am I likely to hurt myself in the long run? Thanks

Just wondering if anyone else has shoulder issues with their mouse shoulder? I've been dealing with some neck/shoulder/back tighness. Nothing crippling but definitely there. One thing that I've had for years is that my right shoulder is definitely lower than my left. I can definitely see it in the mirror. I've asked my doctor about it and we did xrays, nothing is out of place. I've been to chiropractors and that sort of helps for a while. I'm trying to train myself to use the mouse with the left hand, but it's pretty slow going. Anyway, while watching the WAN show I noticed that both Luke & James have a dropped shoulder (see picture). Here's my question: has anyone done anything to help fix this? Is there a specific medical term that I use to get some better diagnoses?

I do a lot of work with electronics, using breadboards, soldering, etc. This and the fact that I am a very unorganized person has lead to my desk always filled with shit, making it a royal pain to dig out my keyboard and mouse... So I had the Idea of getting a keyboard tray, kind of like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Mount-Computer-Keyboard-Ergonomic-Drawer/dp/B0764PQL7M/ref=sr_1_19_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1516857381&sr=8-19-spons&keywords=large+keyboard+tray&psc=1 so my questions are: does anyone know if there is that style of tray for around $30-35 (US)? Are there any recommendations for a different tray/ style of tray?

Hello! I've been having elbow pains for several years now, which I've traced to bad ergonomics. I find myself leaning on my elbow a lot when in front of the screen, and I suspect my desk height may be the culprit. I have an ergonomic silicone pillow I use to alleviate the stress, but it's obviously not a real solution. My desk is luckily adjustable, albeit not easily, so before I start messing around with it - I'd like some tips. I've read conflicting suggestions online, including some LTT and NCIX videos which - while helpful - weren't very definitive. What would you recommend? Currently the desk is slightly higher than my arms if I leave them at a 90 degree angle at the side of my body, but not by a lot. Also, since I've gotten a bit fatter with old age, I have recently started feeling the desk pressing against my beer belly, which isn't very comfortable. I COULD move the monitors closer, but that'll take up precious desk real-estate, and only one of my monitors has a VESA mounting port so for now an adjustable arm isn't a viable option. Thanks in advance!

Hi, My DeathAdder 3.5G's left mouse button is pretty much ruined. It was behaving (working intermittently) and I tried to fix it and broke something. I loved its ergonomics and sensor, but it's old and I heard the G502 has the best sensor for FPS, which is all I play with mouse and keyboard. My questionsare mostly directed at people who have used both mice for at least a few days: How good are the ergonomics of the G502 compared with the DeathAdder? Have you felt that the sensor of the G502 is better? If so, in what way? Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone, I'm currently looking for a chair to buy as my $13 2 year old chair is doing more harm than good to my poor back. I was looking at the DXRacer FE57 (https://www.pccasegear.com/products/30741) which retails for $379 AUD however every where I look is sold out of the chair I was wondering if anybody could recommend any good alternatives for no more than the price of the dxracer listed above or am i just better off waiting for more stock of this chair to arrive? Thanks in advance for all the help guys and girls, Hodge22
