Hello, I'd like to have a really true color display which is safe to eyes. I don't know how to set my monitor properly. When I set the brightness or contrast to highest it's too bright. but when I set it to some recommended values I've found on the internet, it seems really dark to me. I've even tried those sites which are supposed to help me to calibrate my screen, but I couldn't see any difference... Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do?

So, i have a problem. Based on the content on my screen, the brightness/contrast of the picture changes automatically. Since i have one Benq and one Dell Monitor, it´s quite unrealistic that this is some kind of a monitor or display driver setting. I´m not quite sure when this started and haven´t found a solution yet. I saw other people having the same problem, but nobody seems to have found a solution. I tried changing the windows power setting - nothing, and when i tried to uncheck the Adaptive Brightness Box inside the Nvidia Driver, i noticed, that I don´t have the option either. I also checked for weird programs inside task manager and didn´t find anything suspicious.. This is really really annoying and I hope somebody can help me. -Greetings from Berlin, Germany Specs: i5 7600K, MSI Z270 Gaming-Pro Carbon, KFA2 NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX1060.

Hey everyone, first time posting here! I got myself the AOC AGON AG352UCG6 monitor. When trying to check its color performance using my Datacolor Spyder5Elite i get very bad (for VA-panels) contrast ratios. The measured contrast ratio is at around 950:1 when it should be more around 2500:1 to 2000:1 acording to the spec and most reviewers. I tried to play around with the OSD to set different color profiles or try out the presets like the S-RGB mode. The measured contrast ratio never got above 1000:1, which is really bad for VA-Panels i guess? Am i doing something wrong with the OSD settings or is something wrong with the hardware itself? I didnt notice it myself before because i never had a high-contrast Display before. Now i dont want to miss out on it because i paid 850€ for this monitor and obiously want to take advantage of all of its features... The monitor i had before was just a generic 27" 1080p 60Hz TN-Panel i bought for 150€ at the local electronics store. I hope anyone can help me or at least tell me whats wrong (or what i'm doing wrong)...

I have an ASUS VZ229H Frameless 21.5" 5ms and have tried different config settings: at the moment Brightness 85 Contrast 64 Saturation 57 Sharpness 80 Trace Free 60 ViviidPexel 0 anyone have a better setting config, or, I went to http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/contrast.php and tried to self-calibrate, into the numbers above. the contrast page was the one that tripped me, Blue and Red were the ones that I could not see step rectangles while Green, cyan, magenta, yellow and grayscale were fine. How to fix or calibrate correctly? Thanks

So I've recently noticed a strange bug. It definitely doesn't seem like intended behavior. Whenever I load a youtube video, or any sort of video file format, or video content (not games), there's a 1 second delay, and then it looks like the brightness of the video has been increased. Almost like a white film or filter. This doesn't happen when I only have one monitor enabled in windows. I've tried disabling freesync, disabling custom color modes, Any other monitor specific color modes. I've tried resetting my drivers to default settings, and it keeps happening. I can't find anything in windows settings about auto-video quality settings or anything like that, so I'm honestly quite confused. If anyone else has a similar issue or knows what it might be, I'd greatly appreciate some help. Usually I can dig into this kind of thing but it seems so odd.

I would like to choose a gaming monitor that has 144hz, is full HD and has a good contrast ratio, but I don't understand well how this last one works, I searched information of how the contrast ratio works but i don't know what ratio should I pick. I understood that a good one is 3000:1 up to 5000:1, and the monitors that are claimed to have like 80 000 000:1 are some sort of scams..? I would like to have your help guys!!

Hi guys I have an issue, I have my benq xl2411 as a main monitor and I use second monitor to have my productivity increased, but I can't get the second monitor to set up properly, I used 2 VGA monitors before and now I have FUJITSU 24" B24W-5 connected via DVI to hdmi in my gtx970. In all of those 3 monitors I can't get the contrast/brightness right, the color seems to be too dark or I get the settings too bright and everythings becomes too flashy. I thought at the beginning that first two monitors were faulty, but after buying this third Fujitsu I think there is something wrong about the PC or me ( when I am setting up the displays). I know that this benq is VA and it is new, but I use similar monitors to this Fujitsu at work and they work just fine. Is there anything I am missing ? I set up monitors by default in OSD and then tinker in nvidia control pannel, then I get back to OSD and crank up the settings a little bit more. Maybe I got all 3 monitors faulty ? Thanks !

So, what happens every once in awhile is that all of the colors on my monitor get darker (this has happened on multiple displays) and normally a driver update fixes the issue and all of the colors go back to normal but it has been 2 days since I did the driver update with multipul restarts and everything is still darker than normal and I am not sure how to go about fixing the problem. My graphics card is the EVGA 1050ti Superclocked and is on driver 391.35 (the most recent one). Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I can't figure out how to fix this problem and like I said, a driver update normally fxes the problem. I even changed out HDMI cables to see if that would fix the problem but it didn't.

Hi, Just being going insane over configuring my Sony KDL55w800c picture settings. Ive tried rtings recommend settings which gave me a dull picture related to colour. Ive found live colour a great solution until I played the last jedi. During the starting credits a awful red colour on left and right screen appeared. So I added more filters. Black adjust and advanced contrast which solved the issue. But now the screen is to dark in The Dark knight Please there must be a better way at configuring a TV! So far Ive tried rtings templates and the following movies The Dark Knight, The Avengers, Star wars Last Jedi, Life of Pi and Avatar. There is to many ways to skin a cat, when it comes to configuring a TV. Any help on this would be great. Cheers.

Hello everyone, Recently I updated the driver of the integrated "HD 630" graphics card. However, since that update, at least so it seems to me, the display keeps changing the brightness and contrast based on the displayed image: -on white web pages, the brightness increases and the contrast turns to "normal" -if then a dark picture appears, (or simply a dark background - for example the desktop wallpaper or a youtube video) the brightness decreases (it seems as if the brightness is changing from something like 75% to 25%) and the contrast changes so that the image is (slightly) oversaturated. I did some research, tried some solutions, but nothing helped. I tried: -disabling adaptive brightness in the advanced energy saving options of the control panel -disabling the "display energy saving" option in the Intel graphics control panel -reinstalling the driver This "feature" is quite annoying since it's very noticeable (it takes about 2 sec until it begins to adjust brightness/contrast), so if anyone has an idea of how to solve this issue, I would be grateful. Best regards, Matthias Here some information that could be useful: CPU: i7-7700HQ GPU: Intel HD Graphics 630 Laptop: 17,3" Cosmos VI (PcSpecialist)

I recently replaced the ancient EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD in my personal rig with an EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SuperClocked. The new card doesn't support VGA in the sense that the DVI port has pins for analog output, so I had to buy a cheap DisplayPort to VGA adapter. I noticed right away the blacks were too black, despite my monitor having brightness maxed out (at 100) out of the box with the contrast at the default of 75, which worked perfectly with the old 570. The card recognizes the monitor to be plugged via DVI, according to Nvidia Control Panel. It shows two DVI outputs despite there physically being only one, though I am led to believe that is how DisplayPort works with adapters. Unfortunately this "too dark" issue haunts me in the desktop, I mention that because I'm well aware I can "fix" this in game by sliding the brightness setting up or something along those lines, but let's remember that brightness control only works in fullscreen games. So instead of fiddling around with color management, what are some ways I can fix my "very deep blacks to the point where I can't distinguish different shades of dark grey" issue? Don't question why I'm using VGA instead of HDMI, despite my monitor clearly having HDMI ports. I have my reasons.

My Acer KA220QH monitor seems to have colour and contrast issue/limitations. After seeing some of my friends play games such as BF4/3 on the exact same graphic setting as do, I noticed that there game looked so much more vibrant and clear (all 1080p 60hz). Everything appeared much nicer in general and thing were easier to see (in Game), its hard to explain, but my monitor seems to have a slight white haziness to the colours compared to my friends monitors (one of them even had a cheap laptop at 720p that had better colours). My monitor is connected through DVI-D single link, I have recently upgraded from 750ti to a 1070 and the issue still persists. I have tried changing saturation and contrast values in the nvidia control panel but it doesnt make it look any better. I recorded a clip using shadowplay and gave it to my friend to watch through his PC and display. Sure enough everything looked nice on his display. Is my monitor just bad? or is the some way to fix/improve my monitors display.

I have three monitors right now, all with matte screens. Because of the matte finish, color and contrast quality would be reduced, which is a problem for digital art. I don't have a glare problem where this computer is set up, so I should have gone with glossy screens in the first place, but replacing these ones is not an option at this time. I've heard people recommend using Vaseline on matte screen protectors for phones, and seems to be a common fix for scratches. I can see how it would work, and I might try that with the oldest monitor that's probably going to die soon anyway, but for the newer monitors I'm looking for something that won't have to be reapplied. Is there any other kind of product that provides the benefit of a glossy screen? And if petroleum jelly is a recommendable option, how well does it compare to the other options? Or, am I over-complicating this? Is it as easy as removing the filter altogether?

As you can see in my signature I do own a Fujitsu Lifebook E752 with an Intel Core i5-3230M. I am not new to Ubuntu or other Linux distros. I used many over the years since 2011, therefore I would describe myself as a experienced user, though not an expert. Anyways my first ever PC I bought on myself was a Samsung RV720 with Nvidias GT520M, this meant that you were able to use Nvidias propietary drivers to adjust graphic settings like gamma, contrast and saturation easily. I own the notebook since October 2014, but did not use it that much as I primarily work on the gaming rig. Despite the speakers are the biggest **** ever, headphones are your best friend As for two weeks I use the notebook heavily and everything works out of the box w/o problems. The only thing, that annoys me is the fact, that there are poor options to make the display less "fade" and more colorful. Everything seems to have a grey layer over it and colors are cold. Are there any programs, which let you change above mentioned parameters? I once tried to do some manual error and try commands in the bash, but the results were not pleasing tbh and once I even messed up X.org =). Guess thats what you get with root access

Hi, I just picked up a laptop from someone on craigslist a few days ago, and everything seems to be running okay, the only problem being the screen brightness seems to automatically adjust on me and I can not figure out why. The screen doesn't seem to get too bright to begin with, but it's bearable indoors. I believe the model of the laptop is a Inspiron 5423 and it seems like this is a known issue with these laptops in the past, but the fix was to go into the dell battery application and turn a setting off. I have a fresh windows 10 installation on here and no dell applications at all, and would prefer not to install one if I can, though if it will fix my issue I wouldn't be too apposed to it... I have tried going into the power saving settings and playing with those settings, but it still appears to be an issue. I haven't tested this plugged in, but I was reading it was an issue regardless of being on battery or plugged in. The issue is a darker screen gets dimmed, and it makes it hard to read. When working inside text editors doing web development I prefer a dark theme like Atom's "one dark" syntax theme that comes with the editor. But when I switch from the browser to Atom, (from white to black basically) the screen dims down, and I can barely read the text. If anyone knows of a fix or can help me troubleshoot this, that'd be very much appreciated. It is pretty irritating regardless of only paying $110 for the laptop lol.

What contrast ratio is the best, for example, would a 100,000 to 1 contrast ratio or a 1,000 to 1 contrast ratio be better for a monitor.

Dell announced UP3017Q, the OLED display that has 3840x2160 resolution. The UP3017Q is rated at 100 percent of the AdobeRGB color space and can hit 97.8 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. DCI-P3 is the color space used exclusively for cinema today. The new Dell UltraSharp 30 has a contrast ratio of 400,000:1, supports 4K UHD, and has a response time of 0.1 milliseconds with it's 120Hz refresh rate. The UP3017Q isn’t aimed at gamers or casual users. Dell expects it to mostly cater to professionals. I'm sure gamers are gonna buy this. Ofcourse, it cost $4999. The PC itself gonna be lower than $1500 to power this monitor. Product Images: [spoiler=More Product Images] Just got the confirmation from the Dell itself. I tweeted them. And the monitor supports 4k @ 120 Hz. Source: TheVerge, PCWorld, TechRadar. Pricing & Availability: It cost $4999 and will be available from March 31, 2016.

I am doing TONS of research in a field that has always been rather confusing to me. I am looking to find a projector for use at well lit events. It should adhere to these specs: Mostly decent contrast (400:1 simply wont cut it) bright.. there doesn't seem to be a standard for listing lumens*. I'd like 1080p though it seems WXGA is the most common. Ultra Short Throw Cost to quality (Sony's $50,000 UST is .. uh.. too pricey lol) Lazors are always fun. So through my research I've determined the above is mostly what I'm looking for but I simply don't feel as if I know enough about any of it to know what I'm really looking for in the first place. The LED / Lampless projectors have a massive lifespan which is great bc the projector will be used at tons of events. I found one UST that had a contrast ratio of 150,000:1 but was only 1000 lumens. However, .. this could be color lumens not ANSI lumens which means that it could be 3250 ANSI? (Math based off another projector that said it was 800 lumens but (2500 ANSI). & That is another thing. *Lumens. There are color lumens, white lumens, ANSI lumens.. and I think I saw something about another kind too. Anyone have a good explanation of projectors, what I should REALLY be looking for, or know of the perfect event projector? *** screen is 109" *** Also, Linus should review projectors.

Hey everyone! Here's a question for you. I just hooked up my TV again to my computer using a DVI to HDMI adapter. I was watching a movie on my usual monitor (Samsung S24D590L) and after a few minutes, decided to kick back. So I pushed the movie over to my TV. That's when I noticed something. On the TV, the colours looked so much more vibrant than on the monitor. At equal distances, the TV wins hands down colour wise. Option for option, both screens are practically identical setting wise (If anything the Samsung should be better due to being calibrated through Windows) The screen options I use on my TV are as follows: Contrast 50 Brightness 10 (some seriously strong lighting, flat screen LCD with cathodes ~2007) Colour 50 Tint 50 Sharpness Normal Colour Temp Normal DNR Normal Usual monitor specs: Samsung S24D590L 23.8" screen - 1080p ~3 foot away PLS Panel TV Specs Generic TV from Tesco (Technika) 22" Screen - 1050p (scaled to 1080p) ~4 foot away (Wall mounted) Unknown Panel Is there any reason for this (The question is the title). I'm just curious. Thanks! Update: Fixed grammar in the title

I'm looking to buy a new monitor. I noticed some monitors have like a 1000:1 ratio. But some, such as the BenQ RL2455HM have a huge 12,000,000:1 ratio. Is it better to have a higher, or lower contrast ratio. And what does the ratio even mean?

Okay so I have a BenQ GL2250. It's a 1080p TN panel. The colours on it look absolutely fine to me, the look pretty accurate and in comparison to a TV I have, are very full. The specs are as follows: 12M:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio 1000:1 Contrast 250 cd/m2 However, while looking at some Korean monitors, I found that a PLS had a DCR of 50k:1 and an IPS had a DCR of 2M:1. I thought Dynamic Contrast ratio was the difference between max and min colour output. I thought it was what made whites white and blacks black and reds red. Can someone explain to me why therefore, my TN appears to have better colour reproduction than an IPS?

Hello, I'm looking for a good monitor that's on a budget, and when I mean budget I mean not 150 GBP and above, I'm not really willing to pay that much for a monitor at the moment. I really love monitors with bright good looking colors, it makes my day. My current LG Flatron e2260 is 4 years old and it's running on VGA .. also has really bad colors as far as I'm concerned and has only VGA output (Yes it does, on the internet it says it has HDMI etc) I bought it off ebay from a retailer.. So, any suggestions?
