Hello! First of all, I’ll try to make this as clear as possible, even though we’ll have to play with numbers and letters. I have in my possession; New Sabrent Rocket Gen 4 4x NVMe SSD SKHynix PCIe Gen 3 4x NVMe SSD LiteOn SATA M.2 SSD Gigabyte advertises the MB to support Gen 3 4x NVMe (and SATA) M.2 drives, and I tried all 3 of those drives, and NONE of them worked, or were even detected by the BIOS. But, interestingly, the SKHynix drive did somehow softlocked the BIOS, because the restart didn’t worked, nor Ctrl + Alt + Del, and that drive was getting boiling hot. Do note that I use ALL of the 6 SATA ports, (excluding SATA Express) but even with the SATA drives disconnected from the PSU, none of the M.2 drives worked. I also tried the Sabrent drive without the GPU, since it might take some PCIe lanes, nothing. Additional Info: CPU: i7-7700 GPU: RTX 2070 BIOS: F24

I have recently built a PC with components I brought from Amazon, Ebay and Facebook Marketplace, and have come into an error relating to the DRAM and CPU lights. Specs are: Motherboard: MSI B150I GAMING PRO Mini ITX CPU: i7 6700 GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SC RAM: 16GB DDR4 Corsair Vengence @ 2666mhz Probably not relevant specs, but: CPU Cooler: Intel stock cooler PSU: Aerocool Integrator 500W, 80+ Bronze Case: Thermaltake Core V1 Storage: 120gb PNY CS900 SSD & 2.5" WD 1TB HDD When I turned the PC on for the first time, the DRAM light stays on for about 1 second, and then the CPU light quickly flashes and goes back to the DRAM light. I have tried various things to diagnose this, taken out all front panel connectors and starting PC by making contact w/ a screwdriver (same light sequence), using different DDR4 RAM (same light sequence), unplugging the GPU power (same light sequence), unplugging the CPU power (just CPU light), taking out the RAM when starting (same light sequence), using different power cables (same light sequence) and resetting the BIOS w/ CMOS battery (unplugged for 30 mins w/ RAM unplugged and pressed the power button quite a lot to drain power. Fans start spinning, then stop about 1 second after, then straight back to same light flashing). The fans on the GPU tend to go faster then slower ever so often when lights are flashing. I haven't yet tried a new GPU, but I don't think it's a GPU issue because surely the lights wouldn't be flashing?, or using the integrated graphics (for the same reason as GPU), trying PC out of the case and trying a different GPU (even though it's again for the same reason, but I do have other GPU's). I've been looking up on here, Linustechtips forum page, though the motherboards manual, Tom's Guide and other websites and think the issue lies with either the motherboard or the CPU, from what I have diagnosed and what other people have said. I am thinking about buying a new motherboard to test if it's the CPU, but I'm also thinking about buying a different new CPU and returning it if that works with the motherboard, but am unsure which way to go which is where I would like help. Would also greatly appreciate any help that can be given without throwing more money at the issue, but if I have to, then I guess I have to. This is the first Intel build I've done before, so am less aware of some issues that might happen and some common fixes that can be applied to potentially solve the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for reading.

Can anyone recommend a good lga1151 motherboard under £70. I don't care about IGPU outputs and a few USB 3.0 are OK, what I really want is support 4 DIMMs, decent audio (I'm not an audiophile but I don't want to have to buy a sound card so if it's terrible I'd avoid it ), and a decent amount of PCIE, as I'm hoping to possibly crossfire my 480 later, and have a wifi card. The more i/o the better, but all I really need is ethernet, a few usb 3.0 and 2.0, and audio, so I'd take worse I/o with better internals over better I/o unless that's a terrible idea.

Hi! I wonder what if i buy an Intel Pentium G4560 cpu + h110/h110m or b150/b150m motherboard. Will the computer boot? When i go to pcpartpicker.com and choose the components then it shows this message: Some Intel H110 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaby Lake-S CPUs. Can i add this new cpu to the H110 motherboard and boot to BIOS to update it? I know that without cpu you can't go to the bios, but i'm not sure if you can even boot into the bios with this new cpu. Any suggestions? Oh and, it also says it if i pair this cpu with an Z170 motherboard.

So far in my build I've been focusing on cheap H110 mATX Skylake motherboards, but I found a B150 ATX board for not much more. I'd prefer the b150 for the extra PCIE and other connectors, but it only supports DDR3. Will that be an issue, as it does limit my upgrade path to one generation rather than 2, as only Skylake works with DDR3/4 and kabylake only works with DDR4?

Does kabylake CPU's have an issue with b150 mobos in terms of the bios?

Hello Guys its been a year that i'm using my mother board and everything was fine but recently somethings happening that i can't fix it and i need some help for that. My Fans were working Great but last night i found out that i cant change the RPMs. My CH1-Fan and CH3-Fan fans only work on full RPM, last night when i found out that i tried to reconnect CH1-Fan cable and the header was pretty warm that i couldn't event touch that! so i turned off the PSU and cleaned my CMOS but i cant set the RPM and they are working on full speed, the headers are four-pin headers and i connected three-pin fans and i know that it supports that because it was working for a year. the wired part that my CPU-Fan and my water pump and the CH2-Fan headers work perfectly. i also tried to replace the fans but same result. P.S: i tried BIOS and Al Suite 3 for changing the Fan Speeds but they are stuck and the fans are obviously detected and even the RPMs are shown in Bios and Al Suite

A few months ago I build a new PC with a Gigabyte G1.Sniper B7 mainboard, a i5-6500 and a GTX 1070 and im currently thinking of buying a fast M.2 SSD because my mainboard has a PCIe x4 M.2 slot. But just before I bought it I remembered that my mainboard has a B150 chipset that only supports 8 PCIe lanes which made me think that the left over PCIe lanes would bottleneck my 1070. Does anyone know if this will be the case or do you think it will work fine? Mainboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5526#ov Thanks for your help! :3

Hey, So first attempt at building a computer, and I've picked out most parts for a relatively low budget build to handle some basic number crunching (python ML stuff on smaller datasets), and games like EU4 and CIV6. However, having never built a PC before this whole motherboard swamp has me treading water regarding what to choose. Any help from experienced builders is very welcome! Parts: CPU: i5-6500 GPU: GTX 1060 (although I may have to run with just integrated graphics for a short while so mobo will need display outs) RAM: 2x8gb (expandable to 2x16) SSD: Samsung 750 500g Power: ?? Mobo: ?? Case: Jonsbo umx4 My demands on the mobo aren't very extreme, but I'd like to be able to expand with a PCIe or M.2 memory unit, and have decent sound for some speakers. Many thanks in advance for any help!

Hello guys! My friend bought an i5-6600k recently along with MSI B150 gaming M3. Maybe he didn't know, but the MB is not designed for overclocking as far as I know Nevertheless, can we make anything to speed up the cpu, even just a little bit? Maybe we can set the turbo frequency for all cores making it a bit faster? I was searching for videos on YT how to achieve it, but found nothing Any help would be very much appreciated Have a good day, Leonard

Is the msi b150a compatible with the i5 7600k? If not, what motherboard would you recommend - on a tight budget

Is it possible to keep i5-6400 or 6500 at their max turbo frequency with this board? MSI B150M MORTAR ARCTIC I know multiplier is possible to set to the turbo digits in haswell B85 boards so locked CPU could always run at max allowed frequency

I recently built a new system from brand new parts, and when i try to boot, it freezes on "starting windows" screen and after waiting for about 10-20 seconds, it Bluescreens with the code "Machine_check_exception". However i can get into BIOS without any problem, but sometimes it also freezes randomly while in BIOS. Here is what i have found: -It does not matter what i try to boot off of, even windows installer disk OR usb both crash, and the disk with windows boots fine on another computer. -Its not the GPU. Same problems occur when using the iGPU with the Gpu out of the system. -It should not be the RAM. All 16GB of the RAM is recognized in the bios, and i have tried using only 1 stick and usiong different slots. However i do not have extra DDR4 to test it with. -I have also updated the mobo BIOS. -Edit: Should not be an overheating problem, heatsink has been checked and temps are looking completely normal. I also do not have any extra skylake motherboards or CPUs to test the parts with to determine is the CPU or mobo the problem. I can't think of anything else than a faulty CPU or motherboard. Can anyone think of any other possibilities why i have thyis issue? Parts list: i5 6400 MSI B150M mortar arctic ASUS GTX 1060 Dual Corsair CX550M Hyper 212X Sandisk 128gb SSD Thank you in advance. EDIT: Should i just RMA my CPU or mobo since they are brand new parts?

Hey guys, What do you think about the i5 6500 paired with a gtx 1070? i was thinking what motherboard should i buy tho? i really don't know a thing about the features that premium mobo have so... i found this AsRock b150 pro4 that is a mini itx board that cost around 75 euros.. it support the ddr4 2133mhz that is kinda what i wanted.. then it should support an ssd and an hdd? then 1 thing i was thinking do i need a certain mobo to be able to use the turbo boost of the cpu? or any mobo is going to work fine? the final idea is this one https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pjWpQV ($=euro) the ssd that is missing is this one https://www.amazon.it/PNY-SSD7CS900-120-PB-SSD-Interno-120GB/dp/B01KFLH1WS/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1482333676&sr=8-9&keywords=ssd+120+gb guys i need serious answers tho, i have around 80euros to spend on a mobo so if u have some advice feel free to tell me... and... the 1070 that im thinking to get is a big one so do you think is gonna stress to much the mobo? or is no big deal? this one was another idea https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LZFV2R but i think that a 1070 with the 6500 will still outperform the 1060 with the 6600k.. but still what do you guys think?

can Intel B150 chipset's motherboard overclock Intel K series CPU? I listen that Z170 chipset motherboard can overclock Non-k CPU, then why Intel sales with a category K base CPU? Thank you.

Hi, I recently installed a M.2 (XPG SX8200) into my system, but as a result my PCIe wifi card doesn't work anymore. I have two PCIe slots, one for the GPU and one for the wifi card (I'm using an MSI b150 Mortar Arctic), so I can't really move it around. Is there any possible solution? I haven't had a good experience with powerline (quite expensive too) or USB wifi adapters. Running an ethernet is not a viable option either. TYIA

I am building systems for my GF and me. Ive had a B150 PRO GAMING D3 lying arround for a while and i was planing on useing it for her system. I got confused when i saw on the back, that it is only compatible with DDR3 RAM. From the ASUS website i learned, taht it is compatible with 6th gen Intel CPUs (witch i thought only worked with DDR4 but I might be wrong on that). Is this DDR3 board compatible with 7th gen CPUs and if yes does it make sense to use it in that way?
