So long story short my RTX 2070 went belly up (RIP), two repair shops told me it's unrepairable, so I'm now GPU-less. I'm reading rumors about the upcoming 4000 series, and some things I like, some things I don't, there's also some conflicting info, and let's not forget they're just rumors. The only thing that's a given is that there will be a performance increase, which also makes them relevant for longer. What I can't decide is, do I get an RTX 3080 now, or do I wait for RTX 4070/4080? If I decide to wait I will have to buy something to at least play LoL and CS GO, cause I don't even have an IGPU (thanks AMD, once known as the kings of integrated graphics lol). I know now is a bad time to buy a GPU, but is it kinda bad, or really bad? All opinions are welcome, but please be knowledgeable about the matter, at least more than me lol. Thanks, bye!

Hey guys, first post to ltt forum. I currently have a gtx 1080 with my 5900x. Obviously I'm running into gpu bottlenecks. I currently play 144hz 1080p. Eventually I would like to go to 4k gaming, but that's atleast another year. With this computer it is strictly for gaming, nothing else. I mostly play single player games and am looking for a excellent visual experience. Obviously I don't want anything below 60fps but I don't need 500fps for multi-player shooters. Should I just bite the bullet and get a 3080 ( I found some for 1500 CAD that ship from the US and not china) Or should I wait for the 4000 series as the 1080 limps along just fine?

I would imagine since 400 series now get Zen 3 support (if board partners can), will we see new 400 series boards with the sticker "Ryzen 4000 compatible" stickers on them? Around or before the 4000 series of Ryzen launch? I would imagine some board partners may have a bunch of 400 series chips left.

I placed an order for the Quadro RTX 4000 about 2 weeks ago through Safe Harbor Computers knowing that they didn't have any in stock yet, and the arrival date was unknown. I spoke with a rep at PNY yesterday who said they haven't received anything from NVIDIA yet either (PNY gets the cards from NVIDIA and acts as the distributor). So what was originally announced as a December release is now looking like late February/early March. Another site is saying they won't receive any cards until March 28th. Is NVIDIA known for delayed launches of GPU's? I'm in a rough spot because I built an entirely new PC (my first build), but I cannot do anything on it until my GPU arrives.

1. Budget and Location - preferably $4000 but am willing to go as high as $5000 for better performance (as long as its substantial enough to justify the extra grand) - Australia (so please use AUD or at least put USD after a price if you cannot be bothered converting it and I will) 2. Aim - Main focus of gaming. Specifically aimed at getting highest refresh rates possible. - I care more about fps than superior graphics but am willing to pay for a build that can do both if it fits into the budget - I usually play games (or try on my current junk) like arma 3, fortnite, pubg, elder scrolls, tomb raider etc. Basically, I want it to handle whatever games are thrown at it, and well! again, more focus on highest FPS rather than graphics 3. Monitor - current monitor is 1080p 144hz with gsync (but don't base suggestions around this, am really just looking for the most performance within the given price range and I will upgrade to a higher hertz monitor if my current 144hz one is a bottleneck) - Will upgrade to a 244hz 1440p or 1080p monitor if the build can support it - dual monitor setup would be the most i would ever do (if i upgraded to the 244hz 1440p/1080p monitor, i would use it and my current one) 4. No peripherals required (have keyboard, mouse, headphones etc) but will need a copy of windows 5. Why am i upgrading? - current 5 year old pre-built pc is dying and cannot run anything, also have a fair amount of extra cash from work and have always wanted an absolute beast of a gaming PC The main reason I am posting this is because there just seems to be a ton of conflicting posts and videos about what really is the most performant etc. and i was just getting totally lost with the amount of information there is out there. From what i gathered, a 1080Ti and i7 8700k is pretty high up there in terms of GPU's and CPU's (most people saying the 2070/2080/2080Ti and i9 9900k are just not worth it for the small increase), but from there I am pretty stumped in terms of RAM, mobo's, coolers etc and could do with some help on that. I found this video which seemed like a good base point for me to start with, could this build be altered to suite my needs? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks all

I am a student going to college in 2 months. I wanted to get a good ultrabook with a 4500u or 4700u as budget is 55k rupees or 700 usd. But here in india only intel and old 3000 ryzen laptops are available. Is there any time when the 4000 skew will be available here? Only 2 to 3 laptops with these cpus are available here at a huge pricetag 900usd. Also what about the new 11th gen cpus from intel... When will these laptops arrive? Any clue?

My workplace has been looking at Workstation laptops with Quadro GPUs and gen 9-10 intel CPUs but the challenge is that it will be a lot of money to invest in and we don't want to be replacing them for at least 2 years if we can help it. After watching Linus and the team make a video featuring the Zephyrus G14 with the Ryzen 9 4900HS go toe to toe with the Helios 700 on CPU performance whilst maintaining a slim form factor, battery life and all around versatile for daily driver usability, I am asking myself where are workstation laptops with this CPU and a mid-high end Quadro GPU? Is there are a compatibility issue I am not aware of or are they still in the pipeline...? I wouldn't be opposed to investigating a creative portable PC/Desktop solutions either if they exist; which is a large part of why I am asking you guys/gals. Though the option to take the system home and quickly setup without much fuss (including peripherals) is a must.

Hi Guys, So I am building a new gaming PC with the upcoming Ampere GPU's (likely getting a 3080 - depending on price) however, since they are more than likely going to use PCIe 4.0 I would prefer to use a platform that can take advantage of it (maybe not right away but possibly in the future). So not Intel 10th Gen - however if it is announced that Ampere doesn't need PCIe 4.0 then I will probably go Intel since this is a system solely for gaming. However, assuming that Ampere does use PCIe 4.0 and since, it is rumoured that Ryzen 4000 series isn't coming out til December (which is too long to wait for me to build) I was wondering if you guys thought that a Ryzen 5 3600 or maybe even a 3300x would be a good placeholder until the new Ryzen's are released. Thanks in advance for your help!

I need help with making the most efficient rig for animation, game design, live visuals and 4K video editing if possible. $4,000 is my budget. I'm a hardware noob and don't keep up with new parts constantly so was wondering if anyone could help. Software I use is C4D, After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, VDMX5, Max MSP, Ableton, and Unity.

Ok, a few questions for you awesome people - 1. Can I mix different speeds of RAM, example: combine 16 GBs (2x8GB) of 2133 and 32 GBs (2x16GB) of 3200, or is that bad practice / not functional? 2. What is the difference between manufacturers at the more "Pro" levels once you get into the 2400+ speeds? This is targeting price point differences, which I don't understand if they're the same speed, shouldn't they share a similar cost? (Please ignore the ignorance there) 3. I'm working with an i7 6700k / GTX 1070, and Asus z170 Mobo ... I currently have 16GBs of 2133 RAM. Providing the answer to question 1, would it be beneficial to sell off the 2133s and change out for the 3200s? Thanks as always, y'all are the best.

I have a very simple question. I want to chose between 2 different mobile phones. without specifying what are they. I just want to say one has 1GB ram but with a 4000mAh battery, other one has 2GB ram with 2200mAh battery with higher performance (yet not so significant for my use) so I only use it lightly for facebook and youtube and watching videos and usual calls, and I don't use mobile network (3G or 4G) only on wifi when I need to and I turn it off after. so would the 1 GB ram one be slow and cause trouble ? or will the 2200 mAh battery hold me back and I have to charge it alot. Also I should note the 2GB/2200mAh one is more expensive. so is it worth it ? 1GB 4000mAh VS 2GB 2200mAh ??

Hey there. I want to use a desktop for gaming/college in a few years, but I've never built a PC before. My dad bought/built a 2014 Alienware 17" for me but I don't know what parts it has. I really don't know how to say this but I basically want to know what parts I should use. I want to spend a minimum of $1,500 but a maximum of $4,000. I'm looking at 3 different pieces for each part; graphics card, memory, case, etc. I want to try and get watercooling but like I said, I've never built a PC. So then I'm going to see how much it all adds up to and then make adjustments if needed. Right now, I think I want to spend from $2,300 and $3,500, still staying in the 1500-4000 range. So these are the parts I'm looking at. CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-5750HQ Processor Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X99 Gaming G1 WIFI : ASUS ROG Rampage V Extreme : MSi X99A GODlike Gaming Graphics Card: MSi Radeon R9 390 : Msi GTX 970 Gaming 4G : EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti RAM: Corsair Vengeance® Pro Series - 32GB (4x8GB) Storage: Toshiba PH3400U-1I72 4TB Hard Drive (x2) + TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 2TB Case: NZXT Phantom : Phanteks Enthoo Pro : Antec 1900 : NZXT Phantom 820 : Corsair Obsidian 900D Full Tower Like I said, I haven't finished deciding the rest of the parts. But I still need fans, radiators, coolant, and tubing. I've decided peripherals already such as monitors, mouse, keyboard, and speakers. Like I said, if I could get some help for it, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi, I'm planning on building an extreme 3d modelling setup for (you guessed it) 3d modelling, photoshop, audio-editing, after effects and gaming. But I'm fairly new to pc-building and I was wondering if this would be a setup worthy of its money I can spend maybe a bit more but I'm already over my planned budget so it ll be tight. My favorite case is the Lian Li 05S (regular 05 shown below) and with the new Silverstone SFXL 700w PSU coming out (see thread) its now possible to due a dual gpu mini ITX build with something like a Titan Z. I want linus to do a review of the case and psu and put this build together with some good footage. It would be soo beautiful. I had a serious nerdgasm putting this build together and if I had the money I would drop it in an instant. See the full parts list on amazon or pc partpicker Basic specs: 4790k, Titan Z, and 16 GB of ram on the Asus Maximus VII itx board. For those interested here's a vid of my current computer: Blue

My new Asus laptop arrived on Friday, and it says under display adapters, that it is using both the Intel HD4600 graphics and the Geforce GT 820M at the same time. From what I understand, the HD4600 provides the image whilst the GT 820m 'enhances' it by programming straight into the frame buffer. Is this correct? Please help me to understand how this works, it doesn't bother me, it just seems like a very strange setup Edit: Maybe not strange, just a bit pointless.

So, I had left my PC idle for a bit, I came back, and I noticed that performance was crap. I checked task manager to find 4000+ rundll32 processes dedicated to norton. Rebooting didn't help.

I am upgrading my existing computer to make it workstation ready. I have the money to upgrade my graphics if necessary. I currently own a GTX 690 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130781 and I am wondering if it should add a quadro 4000 (maybe k4000 if significantly better). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133324 Or will my GTX 690 handle all of the tasks i need. I will be doing tasks such as: heavily editing in photoshop video rendering and editing light 3d renders I would like to not spend the money on the extra graphics card if it is not needed. However, i am not against buying one if it is absolutely required. Keep in mind that I will be editing on either the Apple Cinema Display or a Dell UltraSharp U3011. Thank You.

Hello, A few weeks back, I was trying to isolate a problem with my graphics card. The problem was this weird clicking noise coming from the fan I assume? I couldn't really find out what was wrong with the thing, so I just popped it back in. In between removing it and putting it back in, I had to install the dreaded Intel HD 4000 graphics driver. Immediately afterwards, my monitor wouldn't display anything! I tried a whole bunch of things until I figured out that the problem was the Intel graphics driver. So I uninstalled that and everything went well for a few days. After that few days, I started to get random freezes. Not knowing what to do, I booted in Safe Mode, and saw the Intel HD 4000 graphics driver re-installed. I uninstalled it and ever since then, I've been getting the same problem constantly. Even as I speak, I'm writing this down in Safe Mode. So, my question is, how do I disable the on-board graphics? Using Catalyst 14.4, and msi Afterburner 3.0.1 (or whichever is the latest). P.S. - These "random freezes", are actually not so random. They happen literally 15 seconds after boot. P.P.S. - Uninstalling it (even in Device Manager) does absolutely nothing other than delay the problem by 10 seconds.
