Budget: $2200-2500 CAD (or less) Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: UE5, Blender, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator...) Other details: I don't have much in terms of understanding what parts are "good" vs "bad" but I think for my price point something like a 3060 12gb could be good, I don't know? In terms of CPU I'm thinking of Ryzen 7 3800x3d and that's about all I have so far. This computer will be used for ultra realistic renders and game dev in UE5 and Blender, as well as for graphic design programs like the Adobe Cloud programs. I'm not looking for something pretty, if it works and works great than im happy. I want something that is going to be future proof and last a few years, without having to change new parts due to hardware limitations... Hopefully someone can give me some pointers or build recommendations. Thanks

Budget (including currency): 1000€ Country: Portugal Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, 3D Modelling Other details So I have a prebuilt from 2015, Intel Core I3-6100, NVIDIA GTX 950 2GB and 8GB RAM, I really need a new computer it's not that slow most of the time but I'm starting to reach the absolute limit of playing games, newer ones I have to play at 720p low 30fps limit (yes I know), I want to be able to play at minimum 60fps I don't care about any more than that, I have a 27'' 1080p 75Hz monitor that I mistakenly bought for the size disregarding a higher resolution, its fine for me since I have not experienced anything better so I won't notice how bad it is compared to 1440p which I would instead upgrade in the future. I have been looking at motherboard and CPU bundles on the used marketplaces and I know how to see if they're compatible but I don't know which one would be the best choice for future upgradability, I want to make a wiser choice this time, for a GPU I saw the last video about used GPU's from older generations and the idea sounds very good, anything would be a massive upgrade from a 950 I was thinking maybe a 3060, I've seen some for around 300€ I'll appreciate any suggestions. P.S. I put the 1000€ limit but I'd like to spend much less on something decent if possible

Budget (including currency): 650 euro or 800$ Country: Greece Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 3Ds Max , AutoCAD and Photoshop Other details: No peripherals needed, no excisting part, the pc to be replased has a Pentuim E2140 , 2GB DDR2 ram, 400W old PSU , old and bit broken case and an AMD HD7750. The resolution target is 1080p at 60 Hz. It's for a friend who does interior designing as a job at some companies using those software. This are pretty bad since there is so low supply. Please give me some recommendations cause it's driving me nuts to decide.

Hello, Im looking to upgrade my venerable LGA 1155 system to one of these fancy new B450/Ryzen setups Ive been hearing so much about, but Im wondering which of my old components will be compatable with the new motherboard and processor. Ive got a budget of £200 for the upgrades but am not familiar with AMD products at all so some help choosing upgrade options would be extremely welcomed. I do some gaming (MB II: Bannerlord ftw), but primarily Im focused on 3D modelling and sculpting very high poly models, of which my current setup seems to be proper struggling with. I would greatly appreciate any help I could receive! Thanks in advance This is my first time building a PC. It's mainly intended for gaming, but also for 3D modelling - if possible. I currently own a Alienware X51 R2, I'm willing to use some of the parts, I've upgraded the graphics card to a GeForce GTX 960. I have a BenQ XL2720Z 144HZ 1080p monitor and Cintiq 21UX. I have speakers, mouse and a keyboard aswell as a WI-FI adaptor. My budget is in GBP - £. I can spend up to £1000 but would like to spend less. I want it to last a while so I'm adamant about investing in the best CPU and motherboard and a SDD - I think that's the right thing to do? I want a simplistic case in only black if possible. Here is my current PCPARTPICKER - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/KH6Rbj Part list: CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor (£314.61 @ Amazon UK) CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 67.8 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler (£69.80 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Asus STRIX Z270-E GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£194.98) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (1 x 16GB) DDR4-3000 Memory (£125.99 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£131.94 @ Aria PC) Case: Fractal Design Define R5 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case (£82.48 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£89.99 @ Amazon UK) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit (£90.00) Total: £1099.79 Prices include shipping, taxes.

Hey everyone, so this is going to be my very first build but I want to make a monster that will let me do the following: 1) I'm a heavy content creator(or I aspire to be one) so the machine should let me breeze through 3d/CAD modelling 2) I also do still image architectural visualizations using Maxon Cinema 4d, Autodesk 3Ds Max and Chaosgroup Vray. I however plan to go into virtual reality and animation of the same field here(Architectural Visualization) using softwares like Lumion Pro and Unreal Engine 4 Architecture 3) The machine should also allow me to edit both photos and videos with Photoshop & Adobe Premiere 4) Being a light gamer, I'd want a machine that also lets me breeze through titles like GTA V, Tombraider, Witcher 3, Dying Light, The Division, Uncharted, Crysis 2 and the like. My budget is 12,000$ but I live in Nairobi, Kenya, where that translates to 1,200,000 Ksh. I initially plan on running a single 34 inch monitor at 1440p. I however plan on upgrading to a dual 34 inch setup(second monitor also being 1440p) I will also be purchasing peripherals i.e. keyboard and mouse I am currently running on a late 2012 27 inch imac with the following specs: Processor: 2.9ghz i5 Memory: 8gb(2X4) 1600mhz ddr3 GPU: Nvidia geforce gtx 660m 512mb Display: 2440 X 1440 Storage: 2tb wd black 7200rpm I desperately want to upgrade to a new setup. Please help guys. Any comments and critic will help loads. Oh and from my research on various channels on youtube, this is the part list i generated off pcpartpicker

Hello, I'm currently looking for a laptop, mainly for digital painting and a bit of 3D modelling, and I'm in need of recommendations. Most of my time will be spent on Photoshop and the likes, and I will also do a bit of 3D modelling, not intensive ones. The specs that I'm looking for is initially a laptop with: CPU: Atleast an 8th gen i5/i7 RAM: 8GB Display with atleast 75% sRGB GPU is optional for me Budget is around $700-$900 I'm currently lost in the massive number of options that are provided. Do you mind giving me some recommendations? Thanks a lot!

Hey, I'm a senior in high school and I am looking for a quality workstation laptop that can run programs such as Blender and 3D game engines such as Unity 3D or Unreal Engine. I need something that has a high tier processor and 16GB ram or more, preferably DDR4. I don't know laptops or even desktops very well which explains why I am making this post. Anything that can be used as a powerful workstation will be acceptable. I am looking for something under $1,000 which is low as it is, but if possible (which might not be) I'd like it closer to $600. Thank you all in advance for your help. Other Information - 1. Please note that I already have a powerful desktop computer. I specifically need a laptop for mobile use. 2. I live in the US, so base location and pricing off of that.

I have been doing research for some time now and have come up with this list for a build that I will use for modelling and rendering in 3Ds Max: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core Processor $308.99 @ Amazon CPU Cooler be quiet! - Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler $82.99 @ SuperBiiz Motherboard Asus - Prime X470-Pro ATX AM4 Motherboard $156.90 @ OutletPC Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-2400 Memory $214.99 @ Amazon Storage Samsung - 860 Evo 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $52.99 @ Newegg Business Video Card EVGA - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB SC GAMING ACX 2.0 Video Card $166.89 @ OutletPC Case DIYPC - DIY-BG01 ATX Mid Tower Case $32.96 @ Newegg Power Supply Corsair - CX (2017) 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply $32.98 @ Newegg Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $1114.69 Mail-in rebates -$65.00 Total $1049.69 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-01-12 11:09 EST-0500 I am still not 100% sure about it, the main thing I am pretty certain about is the CPU the only other one I have considered is the 1920x but I havent found a way to fit it in an $1000 (US) budget. I would welcome any suggestion or tweaks regarding all my parts like my GPU and Motherboard. Also is the fan I have chosen good enough to keep my CPU cool when working on heavy 3D projects? Secondly I have seen a lot of GPU's that have 1050ti in their name but not too sure which to choose, so some clearance on that would be great and I would like to know is the GPU I have chosen suitable for 3D modelling and rendering. P.S I don't need any OS or peripherals and I am not planning to overclock my CPU any time soon. Thank you so much in advanced for your help, it really means a lot

Hey everyone, long time Linus fan just got into the forum, I have a quite old rig that I have upgraded multiple times in the past years. Some of the components are as followed: - MSI Gtx 1060 6gb - I5 2400 - 12 GB of RAM - w/ a Samsung monitor with native 1680x1050 resolution (note: I can provide more info if needed as I have to look it up first) My uncle built this rig for me, more than 5 years ago and we have been upgrading it bit by bit but as I grew older and eventually started college (Computer Engineering) that task has mostly been mine to handle for the last 2-3 years. I have bought myself the 1060 a little less than 2 years ago and it had worked mostly fine since then. It had some performance drops here and there but I didn't think on it much until recently. I have many questions actually as I am newly learning these stuff but I'll try to keep it as short as possible Recently it had started to have frame drops on relatively demanding games. Most recently, I had severe issues on both Rainbow Six Siege and Battlefield V Beta. - ( Having sudden and small bursts of drops and stutters on R6 while having 60 fps regularly and severe drops from 40 to 15/20 on BFV) I always thought 1060 was the issue for the past 2 years somehow and when I had frame drops I've lowered settings and resolution (which didn't always help much) but I've just learned that might not be the case. My question is, Can my CPU be bottlenecking my GPU? I've tried monitoring the utilization rates with MSI Afterburner to see if that's the case. The CPU usage didn't pass above 80% and the GPU moved between 40-80% on BFV with 40-50 FPS and this led me to think a bottleneck might not be the case either (if of course, we assume BFV's optimization is not the problem here). I also learned (from Linus:) that increasing the output resolution would lower the dependence on the CPU so, Would upgrading the monitor to a Full HD one help? Is upgrading the CPU absolutely necessary? (I would also need a new motherboard if the answer is yes apparently and the overall prices of electronics are way less affordable in my country than in the US so that would not quite be pleasant for me) Can the issues be caused by something else? I want to start a conversation rather than seeking decisive answers in order to both learn and solve the issue so I'm willing to give more details, I feel like it has been a long entry already. Thanks to anyone in advance, Cheers

I wanted to upgrade my current pc to a newer one with a budget of £650. LOCATION : United Kingdom / England BUDGET : £650 AIM : I use my pc mostly for game developing, which requires alot of 3d rendering and listening to youtube. MONITORS : 1 at 1920x1080 at 60hz (already have) PERIPHERALS : I already have a mouse, keyboard, monitor and speakers / I have windows 10 home installed on current pc, can it be transferred over to the new build or do I have to buy? REASON FOR UPGRADING : My current pc was pre built 4 years ago by advent (dt2111) and its performance is less that what I require. I also would like to learn how to make a pc. CURRENT SPECS : CPU : Intel i5 2320 CPU COOLER : I think its just the stock cooler but I can't find anything to check GPU : AMD Radeon HD 6670 MOTHERBOARD : Foxconn H61MXL/H61MXL-K MEMORY : DDR3 1333mhz 8GB (2x4) RAM STORAGE : Seagate 5900rpm 2TB HDD (64MB buffer) CASE : Advent Case PSU : not sure, I can't find out NEW SPECS: CPU : Intel i3 8100 (£103.72) CPU COOLER : be quiet! Is there a pc software, free or paid that can be used as a 3D modelling tool AND to simulate live physics? Lets just say its like besiege but Autodesk in it. Im not talking about just pics or just shows some values, I mean like what I modelled will really move? EDIT: When I say physics, I meant realistic physics that can be used in real world applications or atleast very very close to real life physics

1. Budget & Location My budget range is $950. As for location I'm from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. 2. Aim The aim for this build is directed towards gaming and 3D modelling. 3. Monitors I plan on buying one G-sync monitor, but that would be later on in the future and will ask for recommendations in another thread. Currently, I'm going to run on my current LG monitor (not G-sync) that supports 1920 X 1080p. 4. Peripherals I do plan on buying peripherals but that plan will take affect in the future after I planned and purchased my G-sync monitor. The rig will run on Windows 10. 5. Why are you upgrading? The reason I'm upgrading is because Soul Calibur 6 is coming out on October 19th this year and I want my build to run this game smoothly at the highest settings. You can see the recommended PC specs on Nvidia's website. 6. Components owned The components I've already acquired and want to use on my future build are as follows: Hard Drives Samsung - 840 Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Samsung - Spinpoint M8 1TB 2.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive Graphics Card EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB SSC GAMING Video Card 7. My planned rig Here are a list of components I'm planning to buy atm; do note that I've included the components I've already owned in there so just subtract them ($77.16 & $427.50) from the cost. Plz provide any feedback as to what components you would replace and the reason for doing so. Also is there any other component or tool I need to buy? Update on list of components (version 2). Old Version.

Here are a list of parts I plan to buy. Details on what's the aim of my build are mentioned here. What are your thoughts on my choice for PSU? Do you think 650 Watts is overkill or do I need to go higher than that? I based it off from Seasonic's watt calculator website. What factors into this is that the graphics card I've already own has a memory clock speed of 8008MHz which exceeds the threshold of the watt calculator (only goes up to 2502MHz). Also my budget is around $950 Canadian for my entire build; bear in mind I've already owned two hdds: Samsung - 840 Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Samsung - Spinpoint M8 1TB 2.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive and a graphics card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB SSC GAMING Video Card EDIT: Do note that my preference for a PSU has to be fully modular and continuous.

I am currently a high school student and I am looking for a new laptop. I do activities and have hobbies that require a decent laptop but I have a budget constraint. Use Case: -Debate (requires heavy multitasking) -Light 3d Modelling for 3d printing for DIY projects -Occasional Gaming -Studying and Homework -Light Video Editing; 1080p video about 10 minutes long on average Requirements or Preferences -1080p screen, I don't need anything higher but I do want something Full-HD -Doesn't have to be an ultrabook but shouldn't be too thick -A decent battery life, something 5 hours+ should be fine -Anywhere from 13" to 15.6" will do. -Dedicated GPU would definitely be appreciated (if not needed) Target Specs: CPU: 6th to 8th Gen Core i5 dual-core or 3rd to 5th Gen Core i7 or i5 Quad Core GPU: Something like a GTX 1050 or GTX 970m or something, I'm okay with going a bit lower over here. RAM: At least 8GB, more isn't needed but expandability would be nice Budget: About $500 *I am perfectly fine with buying used. Something like a couple of years old high-end laptop will do just fine Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

So basically I am looking for budget PC build Purpose: No gaming at all. Will be using it only for content creation ( Animation and Video editing - Adobe premier, After effects, 3D Modelling etc.) Timeline: Probably next two weeks if everything seems good within budget. Budget: Around 1400$ (100,000 Indian rupees) CPU: 5820k / 6800k / 6700k MOBO: GPU: GTX 750 TI / MSI 1060 x gaming RAM: DDR4 - 8 x 2 (16gb) CPU Cooler: Would probably go for air cooler only considering low noise. Case: Not into fancy stuff. But want to be cool and quiet. Future proof PSU: SSD: 250gb Samsung evo HDD: WD blue 1TB / 2 TB Monitor: U2515H ( looking only for QHD and matte IPS screen) Keyboard: Anything basic with soft keys like MAC keyboard ( less noise) Note: I want my machine to be dead silent and cool as much as possible. I have purposely selected those components and pretty much flexible to add or remove them. Few things like cooler , case etc. though I have few preference but i would like to decide once I am certain about CPU ,GPU and MOBO. I am also concerned about availability of certain specific parts in my country ( India). Thanks in advance for any advice Sorry for typo.

I bought a PC last year for my first year of college as a 3D animation student. So far it works alright for low-mid poly modelling, and high res Photoshop use. It gives me a couple problems when it comes to programs like Mudbox, and super high poly modelling (2mil+ models). I spent about 1k on the PC last august, and it's a pretty great and quiet build, but I'm looking for something that will give me a big power boost, and allow me to throw what ever I want at it. I don't need to worry about rendering, I have a separate PC for that. Rundown: Approximate Purchase Date: September Budget Range: $2000 - 3000 Canadian System Usage from Most to Least Important: 3d Modelling (Autodesk 3DS Max), Animation (Autodesk 3DS Max), Game Engines (Unity & Unreal), Sculpting (Mudbox & Zbrush), Digital Painting (Photoshop), Gaming, Internet Parts Not Required: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, Microphone, headphones. Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Anywhere Country: Canada Parts Preferences: Best parts possible for 3d work Overclocking: Maybe SLI or Crossfire: Possible Monitor Resolution: 3 monitors, 1 cintiq My Current Spec: My Current Build: (pulled from my PCPartPicker) CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard Memory: Avexir Core Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Storage: OCZ ARC 100 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Storage: Western Digital VelociRaptor 150GB 3.5" 10000RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB Video Card Case: NZXT Phantom 410 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Thermaltake 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Monitor: Dell P2214H 21.5" 60Hz Monitor I'm currently debating on just upgrading my graphics card (probably a 1080), and adding another 16GB of Ram. Or Selling the current PC, and build an entire new computer with specs similar to: CPU: Intel Core i7-6800K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Deepcool CAPTAIN 360 273.4 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X99P-SLI ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB (8 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Storage: Corsair Force LE 480GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Seagate 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB STRIX Video Card Case: NZXT Noctis 450 ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair 750W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply So basically, I need to know whether it would be smarter to upgrade for now, then buy a new PC further down the line.

How to get my hands on Unreal Engine 4.
mrchow19910319 posted a topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
I have been using UE 4 since it come out free. Previously I had no experience what so ever when it comes to 3d modelling. Somehow I find it very hard to learn how to level building. I did watch some of the tutorials online, whether is youtube or Digital Tutor. And I followed some of the lessons and tried to build a simple level. And I did it. Bit by bit, step by step. Then after a few months, I did not touch it again. Now I wanna pick it up. I need some advice, if anyone here is familiar with 3d modelling/rendering. I have downloaded a lot of 3d models , and most of them are furnitures and stuff. My goal is to import them into Unreal engine, and maybe play around with it a little bit. Like trying to build a house and put all the chairs and sofas in it. However the models I downloaded are not perfect, most of their uvmap are messed up. I do not know how to unwrap it... Coz if I remembered clearly, if you do not unwrap them properly, they are gonna look funny in the engine. If someone has some experience , give me some advise (and probably some encouragement too ) how to continue. I have a lot of free time, I do not wanna waste it. I am not hoping to become a pro level builder, but I wanna practice until I can play around with all the 3d models I have and without any sort of headache. Thanks in advance.-

I'm building my first computer for VR gaming (HTC Vive) and VR game development/3D modelling. 1) Budget and Location ~$1500-1600, US 2) Aim VR gaming/development, 3D modelling, other casual low requirement games (overwatch, dota) 3) Monitors Single 1080 monitor now. Dual 1080 in the future. (and HTC Vive) 4) Peripherals Already have a logitech g700s, and cm storm quickfire stealth. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Hey guys! I just wanted some insight, I'm planning on building my first PC in September 2016. I am an architecture student so I will be doing a lot of 3D Modelling and rendering. I also want to use it for some gaming (however modelling and rendering are the priority). My budget is around 3000-3400 US dollars for the PC only. Let me know what you think and thanks in advance!

Hello hello, Looking to build a "do it all" PC for home to replace my 5 year old budget system from my student days. This includes VR gaming, video editing, 3D modelling, streaming and any other intensive development tools (Unreal4 Editor in particular is kicking my current rig's ass). Here's what I have: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Teh_Lemon/saved/sKYscf Intel i7 6700K Noctua NH-U12S CPU Cooler Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD Corsair RMx 750W Power Supply Fractal Design Define R5 Going to re-use my old graphics card and hard drives for now, plan to wait for the new 1080/490 or whatever since VR pre-orders seem to be backed up by several months anyway. Don't really have a budget but looking to spend around £1000/$1500. I've been aiming for high-end but still "grounded in reality"-tier with these parts. Quiet would be nice hence the case and psu. Unlikely to overclock, SLI, RAID etc. but I want to leave options open. When in doubt, I just went with the next highest tier. An extra bit of future proofing is much preferable to running into a wall. I want my PC to work for me, not against me. Posting this thread to make sure there aren't any incompatibilities or if I'm missing a no-brainer deal (like I did last time by getting a 560 instead of a 560 ti). Thanks for any help!
