Hi Guys. I have a wish for policy based routing in my router. Because I use Internet for viewing television from 2 different countries. Let's assume that I live in country 1 and I also need to watch tv from Country 2. Both countries use geoblocking so a dedicated VPN doesn't cut it. My router supports OpenVpn, and I can connect to a VPN provider in country 2 permanently without problem, but that blocks Country 1! I know I need policy based routing but I'm not sure I can do it with my present router, https://www.turris.cz/en/omnia/ I would appreciate any suggestion, hardware and software that could help me solve this problem. Thanks :-)

I just received an email from PIA since I tried them out a few years ago. I didn't keep the service as Netflix didn't work and I didn't find a way to exclude streaming from the VPN but keep other traffic on the VPN. This email says that Netflix and BBC are working with Hulu and Amazon Prime getting support added soon. I did a little digging and didn't find any posts from PIA about this new support for streaming and haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else yet. Anyone else get this email or better yet have PIA and notice streaming not being blocked or working better? If PIA really did reach an agreement with streaming companies I'd be interested in signing up again to get some more protection.

Hello my friends! Okay so I am finally going to get a VPN. I've seen ads previously on LTT what is the current go to standard that is suggested. Last I remember was tunnel bear head issues. All the adds I see say Express VPN. Is there one I can get that support LTT? Thanks Have a great weekend

Howdy. For the past couple of days I've noticed that my internet connection has drastically downgraded in quality on my desktop. I think it has to do with my VPN software as something similar like this has happened before but I can't remember how I fixed it last time. I'm pretty sure this started about a week ago while I was using my VPN when my WiFi cut out but the VPN was still connected and I could still browse websites and such. Now when I try to access the internet my connection is on a constant loop of reconnecting and losing connection. However, when I use both my phone and my laptop as a mobile hotspot I have no problems connecting. Also, I can connect to the same WiFi channel that is causing issues with my phone and laptop with no issues so I do not think it is a router problem. I have done everything I can think of to fix this (Updating adapter drivers, changing DNS servers, command prompts (ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, netsh int ip reset, etc.) reinstalling my VPN software, changing power management, etc.). I do not have access to restart the router as it is supplied by the apartment complex I currently live in and is off limits. Hello everybody First time posting to the ltt forum so sorry if i do something wrong :D. Im trying to figure out what VPN i should subscribe. My priorities in order are : 1. Safety 2. Price 3. There was a post that talked about it but.. This problem has slowly been growing and is up to 50 accounts ranging from 10k to 960k subs. Underneath is the link/screenshot (as of 2:30pm est) to a complied google spreadsheet to all the accounts that have been hacked. It is still being edited and adding more accounts https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PhmslGsUkOgPmCrmzcI1s8ZErE2Q5KcPBCCtF9admgg/edit#gid=1716791528 The current situation known is that this exploits explained by one of the youtubers that have been hacked Facts so far: 1. It was a program run probably similar to the previous post mentioned above. 2. Program was run it under a VPN 3. It was in a sotware vault via an antivirus quarantine partition where it was analyzed and was said to safe to run 4. The program was launched and the antivirus came with a positive afterwards and was "chested", but it was too late. 5. It did NOT show the "Did you sign in with google" with the google authentication app with the ip and location. (EDITED: Since its a super detail that i forgot to add, 2FA was on) 6. Youtube account hacked and not being able to sign in. Google account also being hacked. 7. Being taken over via scams. Having their accounts completely changed. Videos being deleted, hidden if lucky Not confirmed yet: This program knew the targets location and spoofed it. Might be a cookie hack/phishing of some sort. The same account email from the previous post above So far, very few creators have gotten their channels back. Youtube clearly gives a priority of caring the $$$ channels over the smaller ones. Google does not have a multi factor email like Outlook, where it asks you for your phone and a second email when security info questions are needed to be answered. It is only reliant of an app with gives a specific code. Meaning there was a way to bypass it and gain full access. Something that YOUTUBE has to be called out to change, because it will keep continuing unless enough voices are heard. Let me ask you this, what if it happens to your favorite Youtuber next? ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ EDITED AS OF 02-29-2020 1:24PM After this article was posted, I have to add additional key information. The malware was involved the fact that its using session cookies instead of stealing pw info. The 2-factor authentication can be circumvented by disabling it using the session cookie because it doesn't ask for re-authentication is the main issue here. It also changes the account email without any re-authentication This isnt an issue of how youtubers handel their security. Its the fact that this is how youtube and google handle their 2FA. Its a security flaw.

Hey Looking for a little advise about remoting into a network to stream videos, first time on the forum so excuse my mistakes. The University I attend maintains a free video service to all students so that they can enjoy newer movies for free/built into tuition. Accessing the movies is as simple as going to a specific website, however, unless you are on the Universities wifi, you will be denied access. I really wanted to be able to access the movies from home and was looking for a way to remotely access the wifi or spoof it somehow. I only currently have a laptop and am trying to find the most cost effective solution to this problem. I'm not incredibly versed in tech so my first thought was a low end pc and remote access. This, however, seemed clunky and I was wondering if anyone had any creative cost effective solutions to my problem. Thanks so much.

Hello LTT Forum, I am making this post to sorta expand the conversation of VPN's and to see what people get vs what they are promised specifically PIA got bought by Kapetech
-
This Friday Linus will be taking part in a recorded conversation with executives from Private Internet Access and Kape Technologies about their recent merger, which was announced late last year. We saw that our community had a number of questions about what that means for the future of PIA, and we want to get answers for you, directly from the source. If you have any questions or comments about the future of PIA and our relationship with them, please list them below, and we'll do our best to get some answers during that conversation. Feedback & direction from our community will be the primary factor that we consider when determining the potential future of our partnership with PIA/Kape, or any other VPN provider. Thanks for your contributions here!

Hi all, I've been on the hunt for a decent VPN and webhost for some hobby fun/experimenting stuff. But while ProtonVPN is cool (esp since it accepts CHF which is cheaper!!) I'm in the boat where I don't have a credit card nor a reloadable one I could use to pay for stuff. And if I'm going to do prepaid, I'm going to get tagged each time to buy the aforementioned card. On top of that, the exchange rate is a PITA at the best of times. So, is there some homegrown Canadian VPN offerings that accept Interact or do business in a stable, consistent Canadian price? Yea, I'd be doing the monthly since I really don't have much choice. As for webhost, I'm just looking for a box to relive old 90s style MU*/Doors stuff for my circles. Cheesy, but a party's a part when it comes to staying in touch with long term friends. Thank you in advance for anything you could put forth to help in this quest. Dantes!

soo.... it's one of those "me" topics again.. i'm looking for a firewall / router software that'll allow remote users to connect to a VPN, which will grant them access to the stuff i host on my server, as an alternative for port forwarding (and passwords, whitelists, and all the other garbage that brings..), sort of a DIY hamachi alternative that isnt terrible. in other words, i want something i can throw in a VM on my server, that does the following: - user needs to connect trough windows' built in VPN (NO exceptions here, end users are dum users) - all connected users need to be seperated (cannot ping each other, etc.) - this same VM needs a form of "port forwarding" where i can easily allow or disallow access to a certain port, on a certain IP address. - this all, ideally, fits in a VM with 1GB RAM or less. according to following (extremely professional) schematic: Things i dont care about - high secure VPN connections. all that's going over the VPN is essentially meant to be on a public network anyways. - enterprise features - heritage of sorts, where a piece of software is better because it has more history. Things i DO care about - ease of use, both for configuration, and for the end user. - as low resource usage as sensibly possible - keeping it to a single VM, mostly for resource usage, and number of hops, since latency is of notable concern. Things i've tried, and why they failed - PFsense: VPN configuration is horrible, even when following the guide to the letter. creating firewall rules ("port forwarding") - OPNsense: see above - IPFire: this web interface is actually worse than D-link.. - linux firewall: PLEASE SOMEONE FIND ME AN EASY TO USE INTERFACE FOR THIS.. I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE. So.. in short, i need a platform of sorts that runs in a virtual machine, has a VPN server that plays nice with windows' vpn client, and has an easy interface for firewall/portforward management. the latter being split into making rules, and enabling/disabling them.

Cloudflare has boosted their 1.1.1.1 app with something they call WARP. It's a "VPN" that makes your internet faster, but... maybe not in the way you'd expect. Install Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cloudflare.onedotonedotonedotone&hl=en_CA

On my home PC I do a lot of work with python scripts in Windows PowerShell and I need a way to remotely access my PC. I simply need to be able to run scripts and move files around. I've never set up a VPN before, for myself, and would assume this is what I'd need. How do I start? What tools? What tutorials to teach me how to set it up?

Hi! I am trying to configure OpenVPN on my router so that all of the devices connected to my home WI-FI network go through CyberGhost VPN. I have downloaded the configuration file for OpenVPN from CyberGhost's website, but honestly, now I do not know what to do with it, since I do not see any option on my router to upload a configuration file. I have attached a screenshot of my router's OpenVPN page. BTW, my TP-Link router is connected to my modem and I'm not sure if I should configure it through the modem, since I do not see any sort of VPN option in the modem's settings. Thanks in advance!

This is a pretty petty issue but basically I've been away from home to visit family, and I've been using Parsec to stream games over to my laptop, the computer has completely frozen after about 27 days of working great. There is only a black screen when connecting through Parsec or Remote desktop, I've tried doing the Win+Ctrl+Shift+B to restart the graphics driver but no results. I have no direct access to the PC as there is no port forwarding available on its network so I use Hamachi which is still up and running on the remote PC meaning I can use file sharing perfectly fine. The Plex server running on that machine is also working fine. I've been trying to use commands to restart the PC through the command line as the account on my laptop is the same as the account on the remote PC. I've used: shutdown -m \\hamachi-ip-address -r -f psshutdown \\hamachi-ip-address -u username -p password -r But I got "hamachi-ip-address" is already performing a shutdown operation, you must abort it before issuing a different command" I tried adding -a but it couldn't find the psshutdown process so I assume it needs to be installed on both machines for that. The PC has been performing a shutdown operation for over a day now so idk. The only thing that I feel like could work is the PsKill.exe command and killing winlogon with it, the issue is that all I get is "access denied" no matter what I seem to do. pskill.exe \\hamachi-ip-address -u username -p password winlogon Which returns "Couldn't access hamachi-ip-addres: Access is Denied". If anyone can help that would be great, I can't get physical access to the PC until I go back and nobody would be able to do it for me either. Cheers.

I've been having this issue for a while where basic websites will work just fine, but if i try to online game or download anything it either doesn't let me or takes an absurd amount of time. Finally found a solution mostly getting around this issue by getting a VPN, but it still gives me high ping. Without a VPN i have a .12 down and 11 up. With a VPN on i have a 44 down and 11 up. I'm hooked up to Ethernet but there a lot of devices that use internet in my house hold if that plays any factor.

Hey guys. We are trying to chose a firewall for an office. We have unifi cameras, aps, controller, and switches. I believe we should get a unifi security gateway setup for $300~ and we should be good to go. My manager wants to get a Barracuda F280 firewall with monthly service. This will be around $5,000 to setup and then something like $500 dollars to $2000 dollars a month in subscription fees. Can anyone advise? We have a 500 mbps isp and less then 50 people in the office. We don't use VPN at all everything is cloud based. Does it make sense to do the F280 over the Security Gateway? I do have a VM server and a dell sonic wall too if someone wants to advice something different. Thanks very much.

Hello unfortunately my Open VPN does not work properly since I installed Nord VPN too. So I uninstalled Nord VPN but I still get the same error message in Open VPN even though I reinstalled Open VPN now. There might be a config file somewhere that I missed. Is there a way to uninstall everything from Open VPN config? Thanks in advance!
