I accidentally clicked on a suspicious link on my mac, but after checking everything i couldn't find anything suspicious like the cpu usage being too high and any new windows opening up. The only problem is i wasn't able to read the usage monitor thingy on the mac bc the names were just too complicated. Could there still be a virus? Is there anything in the usage monitor thingy that i should look out for?

I keep getting notifications from Windows security saying there's a threat i click on notification go to "Virus & threat protection" click on threat and then click remove, but nothing happens then I clicked on "Clean threat" & "Quarantine" but still nothing happened the virus is called "Virus:Win32/Chir.gen!dam", it says the affected item is "F:\9a8be1d39478b8daefe45663fe1b0d66\UIU64a.exe" but i don't have a Local disk: F. I tried Avast to deal with the virus but when i uninstalled Avast(it slows down your device) it popped up again. I hope this gets fixed soon before it's too late. (I have Lenovo laptop-Core i5 7th gen-Windows 10(64bit))

My computer got hijacked.....it keeps quitting task manager of file explorer if I browse system files....it stops me for installing any program....It shows a taskhost.exe program at startup but can't do anything to it cause it quit the whole task manager.

Hello guys! So the other there, one of my friends wanted to get some scripts on a Roblox game (neither did I or he know that, the respective game did not have scripts for a while) and since I used some scripts in the past, I advised him to proceed with caution. So he downloaded a injector with some scripts, but in the installation setup he had to allow all oh those crappy bloatware and spam, however I told him to just skip those, but he did not. After he did all that, a bunch of windows CMD'S and also a lot of google tabs. Then hes PC crashed, and he got security alerts from all of his Google Accs., and right after that, his Steam Acc. and Discord Acc. started sending those weirds mesaages to all his friends, to click on a link for something free and stuff, after that he reinstalled windows and created new passwords. It all went great, until yesterday when all of this stuff happened again. So what is to do? Im guessing that the virus had some kind of deep roots that it restared again, since he didnt do shady stuff after the reinstall. Can you guys help me and him with this? Also, I am sorry if i picked the wrong topic.

Has anyone experience windows 10 working and the next moment the mouse starting to act out? The programs on the computer doesn't open when clicking on the icon only when you hover over it can you open programs that are open. If you restart the computer it goes to the blue repair screen. Does anyone know what is happening?

So I bought a steam deck off of my friend cause he decided to buy a rog ally he told me he emulated a bunch of games but he got the roms online from the roms reddit mega thread and vimms lair. How likely is it that the steam deck may have gotten a virus from there cause I do notice a couple of weird things. Particularly the steam button sometimes I have to press it a couple of times and the os menu has pretty visible lag. He's only had it for like 2 weeks.

I'm watching a live stream and I saw in the chat I saw a little survey pop up pertaining to what the video was about. My dumb ass clicked on it. Before I knew it my display was blinking black a couple times and then my pc restarted. It came back up and I immediately did a search on my c drive for the date and went to the approximate time that it happened to see if there were any new files that didn't look right. Nothing. I ran a scan in defender. Nothing. I also have an adblocker that is supposed to have real time protection with it for malware and ransomware and malicious websites. That didn't do anything either. I pull youtube back up and within minutes it starts locking up. I was able to close it before a full crash. Tried it a couple times with the same result. I'm really hating myself because RIGHT before that survey popped up in the chat, I noticed someone spamming and I saw a ton of the same character coming through over and over out of the corner of my eye. I didn't think anything of it and maybe 30 seconds later regular chat is scrolling and up come this survey. I didn't put two and two together until it was too late. How stupid of me. Anyway, youtube won't stop crashing. Any suggestions on how to figure out what happened and how to stop it?

I have been trying to install rpcs3 and every time I try to put it into a folder windows keeps telling me that I have a virus. whenever I run a scan windows tells me that there is nothing wrong. please help!

Hey ! Our Truenas core at work was infected with ransomware, the IT guys never turned on snapshots so we're in a bit of a pickle. I wanted to ask if any of you has has experience with this particular ransomware and could point me to a decryption tool, I could not find one on Kaspersky, Avast, Emsisoft nor Nomoreransom. All of our files now have this extension : "DZF2QX5SJ". Attached is also the message as a picture Thanks !

Not sure if this is a possible false alarm or anything but I would rather be safe than sorry, plus this could help the next person if they have a similar problem. I left my laptop on while I was out for about an hour because I was in the middle of something. Came back and I had an alert by my antivirus (Kaspersky), that I had a Trojan (Script). It had the option to remove the threat, and I had clicked to remove it, but it didn't work. So I attempted to shut down my PC but it was not allowing me to shut down when clicking to shut down. I opened the system tray in the bottom right to see if I could open my antivirus again and noticed that the windows security icon was red, and when I went to click on it, got an error message. I don't remember exactly what it said, but it was along the lines of "you may not have permission to open this". I also attempted to open some photos but nothing would open. So I force shut down my laptop by holding the power button, and when I turned it back on I had the same issue, Kaspersky popped up straight away, nothing was working again, but this time the threat removal worked. Kaspersky then did some system repair process to revert anything it thought the virus/malware may have damaged. I restarted the PC and everything seemed normal. Ran another virus scan, and luckily, no threats. I also then downloaded Malwarebytes and got the free trial and scanned, no threats detected there either. I then investigated where I may have gotten this virus or malware from, as I am very careful with the websites I visit, and programs I download. I had not remembered downloading a program for a very long time so something seemed off. I checked the quarantine centre in Kaspersky and opened where the file was located. It was located in a Google Chrome extension folder. The file had obviously been removed but the folder it was in was still accessible. I had not downloaded an extension for a long time. The only ones I had were an Adblocker, the same one I have used for years, and Kaspersky Protection extension for Chrome. I went and opened extensions on Chrome, and to my suprise there was a new one, that I have never used before or seen. It was also disabled. The extension was 'UltraSurf Security, Privacy & Unblock VPN'. I do not remember ever installing this. I deleted the extension, and sure enough, the folder the threat was located in was gone. Now I am unsure if this was some sort of false alarm from Kaspersky, or a genuine threat. It seems to have been removed. Should I be worried, is there any more steps I should take? Does anyone know if this extension being malicious? Sorry for the essay, I am just worried, and would like to know if I should do anything else to ensure my system is safe to use. CAN'T Install purchased ESET NOD32, always get error MSI.1404 Nothing on ESET's website addresses this, and their forum is terrible. PLEASE, does anyone here know how I can get this installed?

I used windows defender to do a scan of my whole machine. It found like 40 viruses which freaked me out a little. Howerver I realised it was a kali iso i had in my downloads folder that of course containes viruses. I deleted it and expected it to be clean now. Nex scan shows i have another virus or trojan. It was a minecraft mod that was falsely flagged as virus, so i deleted it and emptied the windows trash bin. In Theory I shouldn't have it on my PC anymore but it still shows up in defender. I think it's because I deleted it manually so the Defender can't remove it. Howver it still shows up as threat and im not sure what to do.

I accidentally installed the wrong app and my windows defender is going off like crazy, what do i do?

I am not sure what it is as I have searched what it meant and found nothing. I thought it was a virus at first and I had malwarebytes installed to remove it. DId a few scans here and there as well as custom drive scans. Had some files quarantined and removed upon restart and all that jazz but it seems that this window still appears every now and then. I am able to close it by simply closing it in a normal manner and regardless open or closed it doesnt mess with my PC in anyway. I also tried looking for the process in task manager but nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. Can someone help me with this? I am a little bit concerned of what it is and what it can do. Thanks!

So my dad got a warning message from kaspersky saying someone was trying to get to his computer. He ignored it at first thinking its a small thing but then kaspersky started spamming him with warnings to shut of the computer. He ended up pulling the power and lan cable from his computer isolating it. I am a bit worried for my pc as I am a student and have worked my ass of for over a year to afford the 2000$ rig I am running today and would get crazy mad if someone took control over it. My dad owns a company and so has a lot of customers information is at risk hence why he is getting a new pc to be fully sure to keep that safe. My questions are: Is the router at risk, all pcs in my home are connected to our router via cable, and if so would they be affected? And is there any way to prevent this from happening again or get a hold of the people that did it? (Kaspersky gave my dad an origin IP adress but that's probably just a fake). I have just caught Firefox uploading to a Fastly server for no reason. I wasn't uploading anything i was just watching some YouTube videos. Should i be alarmed? Should i worry about this? Is it normal or do i need to check my PC for malware (MalwareBytes didn't find anything) Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I am making this post on phone as my pc is useless currently. There is a program on my pc that windows defender cannot get rid of that is completely making the internet useless and is installing a worm or something. I am barely educated and don’t really know what to do. My pc was restarted without say and I went to the source folder and deleted it but I am still under attack.

I don't download random stuff off of the internet usually, so this caught me offgaurd. What's shocking is that it's on roblox fps unlocker. What should i do?

i installed some weird software dont ask me why ,ofc i removed it but i still have that : wtf am i meant to do????
