Hello everyone. So I helped a friend building a computer from one of our country's stores and they build, test and ship the pc after they are done. When the pc arrive he wants me to verify that all the parts that we choose are indeed there and are all new. I know how to check hard drives and ssd's with 'crystaldiskinfo' for total hours used and by that know if I got a used drive. But what about cpu and gpu? is there a way of checking? Thanks all edit: Another small question.. I'm not so familiar with overclocking but the computer that I built him has i7 7700k, ASUS Z270-P PRIME with CoolerMaster Hyper 212 as a cooler. Is there anything I need to know before I try to overclock the cpu? And what's the safest clock speed I can get with this cooler? Thanks.

So I plan on throwing together a used gaming PC on the best budget I can, inspiration of Scrapyard Wars I guess you could say. I found for sale in my area, an i5-3570k with an Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe for €200 including postage to me. Is this a good deal or should I source elsewhere? Thanks in advance!

So I was surfing the web (like we all do) and I found some extremely cheap 10 core xeons. So it got me thinking, is it possible to make a 40 core gaming and/or rendering PC? and for less than $1000???? So I started to put a list together on PC Part Pickers website and this is what I found so far. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BJXfTH I am half way curious to see if this would work and what score in Cinabench. I would go out and buy this, but as a high school student it is hard to "throw away" $$$.

Hey guys! I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for a super cheap used 1366 ATX motherboard? Everything on eBay is either really expensive or dual CPU workstation/server. I have a Xeon W3530 in my NAS currently, but it's a Dell motherboard and it's BTX form factor Long story short, I'm running out of HDD space and I have an Antec Titan 650 server case, but no motherboard! Any ideas are welcome

Build's worth, possible issues, tips, and warnings.
veltoc posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
long story short someone in a player group I am in is selling their old build since they upgraded a few months ago and want someone else to enjoy it, especially someone from said group. the price I was personally given is $200 for this build: Case: LOGISYS Computer CS6801BK Aluminum Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case CPU: AMD A10-7700K Kaveri Quad-Core 3.4 GHz Socket FM2+ 95W MOBO: MSI A68HM-E33 V2 FM2+ AMD A68H SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard Ram: 8GB (4GB x2) DDR3-2133 G.SKILL RIPJAWS RAM CPU cooler: CRYORIG C7 - 47mm Tall, SFF Mini ITX CPU Heatsink GPU powercolor TurboDuo R9 280 PSU: 350w psu (no specific item name atm, came with the case) Storage: Hitachi (0A38876) 1TB 32MB Cache 7200RPM SATA2 (3.0Gbps) 3.5 notes: -the psu is missing the cord to power the gnu -the current owner smokes (cigarettes, weed.. i hate this about the buy.. I'm iffy because of this) however not inside -the case has no fans (jacked for the new build, so will need some) -the GPU has not been mined with known issues: -PSU doesn't have enough wattage to power the GPU -i will need new fans, im thinking of getting a better case and just saving money in the long run. -if the pc smells if could be a deal breaker I guess what I'm wanting to know is if its worth it, smell and issues that need to be fixed included Thanks in advance! -
Hello everyone, I am wanting to build a gaming pc out of used components with a budget of $300 and I live in Australia. I am going to be using this pc predominantly for gaming and maybey some light web browsing and media consumption on the side. I will be mainly playing CSGO, rocket league, Euro truck simulator 2, GTA 5 and watch dogs 2. I also plan on running two monitors at once, one monitor will be connected to my laptop and the other will be connected to my PC. They will both have resolutions of 1920X1080. When it comes to peripherals, I will need two monitors, a mouse and keyboard as well as an operating system, Windows 10 in this instance. Thanks for your help!

Hey there, so the story is that I was looking for a super cheap gaming Build for a friend, and I was looking to get a used productivity, business, whatever PC and just put a 1050ti in it, in order to run newer games on med to low on a 60hz monitor. I would like some help to see if the pre-built system I'm looking at would be non-compatible or have serious bottlenecks or something. The system I'm looking at was an hp Xw8600 workstation for 25 dollars and no hard drives drive or OS, which is not really a problem for me. The system has a quad core Xeon processor clocked at 3.16ghz with 4gb of (I think) ddr2 memory that I probably will upgrade. What do you think? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or constructive criticism Site with the pre-built: https://filmar.com/product/001077-hp-rb454ut-xw8600-workstation-tower-intel-xeon-quad-core-3-16-4gb-0gb-dvdrw-vt/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw9uHOBRDtARIsALtCa94NlZcje3uVnUW1FmniLjiEraNnLlbn7mr28g4O7eGraE5D7NFhXZ8aAv_aEALw_wcB

Hi guys This week I'm going to check a used laptop that I'm gonna be buying for my brother. What do you guys recommend me to do with it, like, programs to use (stress tests?) ? Other than the usual physical check, obviously. So far, the things I can think of are: Check if every single key on the keyboard works Check if there are any weird noises coming from the HDD and fan Dead or stuck pixels Should I take a USB stick with me with some programs like CrystalDiskInfo and AIDA64, is it just not worth the hassle? Thanks in advance

Do you guys think buying a used i7 3770k for 150 euros is a good deal? I don't know how much the cpu was used, the seller doesn't specify it. I don't know if I could bargain the price down a little bit, but maybe I will try if I can. New 7700k's are going for more than 300 euros here and 8700k's for over 400..

Do you guys think a KFA2 GTX 780 HOF is a good value for 110 euros? I could get a gtx 690 for around 140 euros, but i'm concerned about the 2gb vram per gpu which I think is very little for current games.. I also found a gtx 970 for 140 euros, maybe I could convince the seller to sell it to me for 130 but he hasn't responded yet. All above cards are used, the 970 not as much as the other two apparently if the seller tells the truth. I don't want to spend a fortune on a brand new graphics card as of now, but I thought of upgrading a bit on my current r9 270x as maybe I will use it in another computer. As for the prices, I live in Slovakia, parts are pretty expensive here, a new 1050ti costs around 150eu and a 1060 3gb around 210.

Hello, I want to buy a laptop which I can bring to school. It needs to have a good screen, be built well (metal if possible), and have decent specs which can actually run some games. I am willing to buy it used on Craigslist or eBay. I am Canadian so hoping the price will be under 800 USD (1000CAD). Thanks for suggestions!

I've been looking on Ebay and Craigslist, and I've found some decent priced graphics cards within budget, but sometimes the prices are a bit too good to be true (980 for 125$). What are the downsides to buying a used graphics card?

So I recently made a topic: But the fella with the gtx 970 didn't reply to me since and I think he already sold it but forgot to delete the advertisement.. But I found two others, contacted both of them and neither of them wants to go lower than 150eu, so I guess I'm stuck with those prices.. Do you think it's still a good deal like that? One of the cards is an asus strix gtx970 and the other is an asus turbo gtx970, it looks like this:

I just found a deal for graphic cards that were used for bitcoin mining. Apparently, it's: $100 for gtx 1060 (6g) $170 for gtx 1070 $250 for gtx 1080 (Didn't state the model, looks like they're from msi from the picture) The guy is selling in bulk so I don't know if I should find a few friends and buy them together. Are there any potential risks for used mining cards?

Hi guys, a friend is selling me his second hand pc for 590$ and it looks like new. EVGA ACX SC 760 2GB i5-3450 4core 3.1ghz 6GB RAM 1600mhz 1TB HDD Is this a good deal?

I'm heavily debating what my next gpu should be. Right now I have a 6600k@4.5ghz 16gb of ram and a gtx 960 on a lg 3440x1440. I know my 960 shouldn't be in here right now, but when I upgraded my pc last year I didn't have the budget for a new gpu as well as the stuff I got. I could get a used gtx 1080 for around $475 usd or a used 980 ti for around $350. I've heard if you OC the 980 ti it nearly becomes a FE 1080. I mostly just play BF1. I want to get the best bang for my buck so I'm going used and the 1070 prices seem to be the least cost efficient at the moment. What do you guys think?

Hej, so i was really bored and i was thinking about my PC and i noticed. My Pc is 90% Used parts, and 50% of that 90% is stolen from my school. I was wondering how some of the used builds have come together. Give me the most interesting ways you got a PC part. I got My GPU as a dead one, but got it fixed 4 months later.

I'm thinking of selling one of my old rigs: Specs: i5 2500k, ASUS GTX 750Ti OC, ASUS H61-M mobo, 8 GB corsair ddr3, 1TB hard drive, 120gb ssd, 550W PSU and RGB customisable leds in an Enermax ECB2030 MATX case. How much do you guys think I could sell it off for? I didn't wanna advertise first and later find out it was an obnoxious price or anything. I'm living in Australia where a 750Ti and a 2500k are about $150AUD each. Also 8g of corsair ddr3 ram would cost $100 new. The PC still runs flawlessly, I cleaned it up and ran a few stress tests and it's completely stable. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

So I've heard time and again that buying a GPU that was used for mining is just bad news. But with Ethereum mining on the decline and others saying it's already dead I would assume that eBay, Craigslist, etc. are going see a rise in post-consumer, ex-mining GPUs going for a small fraction of their MSRP in the near future. That being said I have a few questions: 1. Has the secondary-market been flooded with ex-mining GPUs when other cryptocurrency bubbles have popped or the "landscape" changed? e.g. When bitcoin ASIC chips became more efficient than GPUs 2. If so, do these cards typically sell for a significant markdown off of MSRP, or do people try to pass them off as though they were simply another used gaming GPU? 3. How do these ex-mining cards stack up against new, lightly, or even heavily used gaming cards in various benchmarks? 4. I've heard that video artifacts are occasionally a problem, are there other effects caused by the mining that might make these cards unsuitable/ unusable for gaming? (Other than simply killing it) 5. Might the ex-mining discount (assuming there is one) be enough to ignore some of the problems with these cards? I'd love to see a LTT video answering some or all of the above questions but getting answers from experience members of the community would be appreciated as well. Note: I'm not actually looking at buying an ex-mining card, I'm very happy with the system that I have, I've just been curious about what happens to all these GPUs following a mining craze.

Hi guys so I'm struggling to find many current reviews on an older 4470 i7, tossing up now whether I do a brand new ryzen build with a 1500x or 1600, or whether I use some hardware I already have lying around and grab a used i7 4470S (Lower TDP 4470) Basically the goal is to get him up and running with a really decent gaming rig for modern games for under $1000 NZD, that's $735 USD. I have a bunch of older gear, a nice 1150 board, some off brand DDR3 and a R9 390X that I can sell on for bottom dollar. But when I'm parting out a brand new Ryzen build we're at $980 and I'm not super keen on letting a case, 390X and 2tb drive walk for $20 haha

Is it safe to buy a used graphics card from someone that used it for bit coin mining? What are the dangers of using this used equipment if that is the case? Or is used only for gaming the better way to buy equipment?
