I have a Precision M6700 with a quadro K3000M and i7 3720qm, if I connect to AC power there is no issues, quadro goes to 650+Mhz and doesnt shutdown under CPU load (though it gets quite hot, 85-95c). But if I unplug it the GPU immediately drops to 135Mhz and within a few seconds of starting a CPU stress test the laptop shuts off. The error in the BIOS says 'ASF2 force off', looking that up doesn't seem to help, there are some people saying its battery, some saying it's main board, some saying its GPU, CPU, etc. I have an extra main board that I will swap in tomorrow and see if the issue still persists. The dell pre-boot diagnostics shows everything as passing and the shutdowns are there under any OS, I tried Hirens 2, Windows 10, and it even shutdown on the Dell pre-boot diagnostics under CPU test (which just stresses the CPU). I can't imagine it's the CPU though because it only happens on battery power. The GPU issue is less of a deal for me, the K3000 in the laptop is limited to 135Mhz on battery, I've tried power settings, new drivers, old drivers, nothing seems to make a difference. I am waiting on a GPU upgrade anyway so the main point of this is to fix the shutdown under CPU stress tests on battery.

So, I'm pretty new here. If I put this in the wrong area sorry. But on to the main subject. I have an Asus Q550 (Yes, I know its pretty old, but I have a pretty tight budget) and it refuses to shut down properly or even at all. When I shut down in Windows or Ubuntu, it shuts down but then hangs while still powered on (Which is very unhelpful since its a laptop and I want it to have it's best battery life as well as shutdown the OS without the possibility of killing my OS.) When I restart, it works fine in Ubuntu, but won't work in Windows. I have looked for drivers to fix this issue, but the latest ones are from 2015 or whenever. The MOBO looks fine as well, so I am kinda stuck on what could cause the issue. PS. I forgot to mention that every time I closed the lid it kills the screen and hangs on both OSs. Which is way more irritating. Extra stuff that may or may not help I have Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.10 installed on it, but even before that, I had ACPI issues with it. It was used, so I don't know much about it other than it had 4 Gigs of RAM (Which I upgraded to 8 Gigs) and it had an intel core i5 (Which I upgraded to a i7) It also had one HDD in it that was 500 Gigs (which I upd to 1 TB)

Hello. I've recently changed my Palit GeForce GTX 1070 Ti JetStream GPU (which was perfectly fine, i thought it was broken since it was a 2nd hand deal) with an ASUS RTX 2060 RoG OC. So basically, when I changed the fan speed of the Palit GTX 1070 Ti, the PC would make an electrical noise, and then it would shut down. As it may sound like, this is actually not coil whine, nor the GPU's fault, because THE EXACT SAME F@#%ING THING HAPPENED with the BRAND NEW Asus ROG STRIX RTX 2060!!!!!! And no, it's not the power supply, I've had 2 thus far (seasonic 750w platinum and coolermaster V1000 gold) which are perfectly fine. Damn, I've spent 130 euros on a PSU i thought was broken! I STRUGGLED WITH THIS PIECE OF S@#% FOR 3 MONTHS STRAIGHT, JUST TO WASTE 500 EUROS ON A PROBLEM THAT STILL EXISTS! Please, I need urgent help.

earlier today, my laptop was working fine. I shut it down and left it unplugged. Just now when I tried to boot it up (not plugged in) it just wouldn't boot. Then when I plugged it in it booted. However, after I got into Windows and did stuff for around 1 minute it just instantly shut shut off. I tried again to go to the bios and the same thing happened but this time there was a very audible pop sound when it shut off. Anyone has any ideas of why it is shutting off? I already checked for overheating

I built a PC from spare parts. Using a i7 2600, 24 GB gskill ram, gtx 1050ti, and a 650 watt evga psu. I'll turn it off (shutdown in windows) and the screen will go black like it did shit down. Thing is that the PC is still powered. The case fans still run, the power light is on, rgb is working. I have to hold the power button to shut it all the way off. Anyone ever experience this before?

The servers behind Jibo's functionality are apparently being shutdown. Jibo owners are being notified of this by way of an audio message and a dance to some music. Interestingly going to Jibo's website shows a bunch of missing video links and no real info as to what the 'limited' functionality will be once the servers go offline. Edit: So the limited functionality appears to only be touch interaction for its local applications. No speach recognition beyond wake word detection.

Hey guys, I wonder if my hardware will get any issues when I just put my computer into "Energy saving" mode and let it sleep and instead of shutting it down. The reason why I ask this is because I had a workplace and we were not allowed to shut down the computers in the full week. There was a reset once a week on sunday. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, There seems to be a little problem with my new, self built, pc. Whenever I launch a game (usually Cities:Skylines, CS:GO, GTA IV) I'm only able to play for about 2 minutes before the graphics card shuts down. The system keeps running, the sounds of the game are still there, and the PC is still on, but the graphics are gone. There's just a black screen. I ran the FurMark stresstest and the results were similar to running a game. About 1 or 2 minutes in the screen goes black. The GPU temperatere didn't even reach 60°C, so it's probably not a heat issue. I installed the Asus GPU Tweak tool, where the default setting was "gaming mode". The max GPU power setting in "gaming mode" was 1175mV, so I figured, maybe it's just too low and the GPU shuts down because of that. This max V setting was also the lowest possible in this tool. So I created a custom mode where I raised the max mV to 1195mV. I tried a game and the FurMark stresstest, but with the same results as before. After some researching I downloaded and ran HWMonitor, and there I noticed something strange. While I had set the max V for my GPU to 1195mV in Asus GPU Tweak tool, HWMonitor told me the max voltage for the GPU was only 1025mV (or 1.025V). Why do they show different numbers? I'm almost certain 1.025V is far too low (since the usage went to 1.025V immediately in the FurMark test), and if Asus GPU Tweak tool doesn't actually change the max voltage value, where can I change it so that it actually changes? Here are screenshots from HWMonitor and Asus GPU Tweak tool: PC Build: - Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.00 GHz - Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H - Asus GTX970 Strix - Gigabyte B700H - 16GB RAM (not really relevant probably) Has anyone had similar issues, or does anyone notice something that's clearly wrong/the cause? I'm not very experienced with all of these voltage settings, so keep that in mind. Thanks in advance for the help!

A couple years ago, the wife bought - against my advice - an asus a540sc laptop, because "it is cute", and a few months ago it started shutting down when picked up, both on battery and pluged-in. A coworker has the same problem. (now the wife upgraded to an hp i7 that she bought for half the price of the i5 macbook she was eyeing...) Since I want to introduce my kid to pcs, I need it working properly, so, has anyone had this issue and sorted it out?

I don't know why but this started happening suddenly . after new year I tried to shut down my pc but all the coolers stay on and gpu too. PWR led is on also. I tried everything in power options, updated bios , set everything to default and still nothing. After every shut down I have to turn off my psu Please help me somebody .

Good day everyone. Recently when I opened my computer, it took too long to boot and I noticed that the loading after bios is not proceeding. Then the pc displayed a blue screen in which it says error "0xc000000e a required device isn't connected or cannot be accessed" . Then I held the power button to shut it down. After that, I tried turning it on again but it won't boot. Then I opened my system unit to detach and attach cables. I got the computer to work for several hours. After few hours, the pc shut down itself instantly without the windows is shutting down display. Then it automatically rebooted itself but it cannot pass through the bios again. It keeps on looping a restart. The next day I was able to use my computer but it happened again. It shuts down instantly without any warning. But every time it turns on after the bios I am headed into the Windows 10 setup mode in which I can troubleshoot or reformat windows. I tried troubleshooting but it doesn't show anything. So I got tired of it and just went to sleep. Today I decided to try turning it on again but now I noticed that it did not show anything on my monitor even the bios. so I checked my motherboard and I saw the ezdebugLED. The cpu light is turned on and I also noticed that the cpu fan is not spinning. So I opened my system unit again. I detached and attached all pins and cables. I also removed the ram, I erased it with a pencil eraser then reseated it. But when I tried turning on the pc. I saw a .5 second that the gpu light lit up but it instantly turns off again. So now I cant even make the pc run anymore it instantly shuts down the moment I turn it on. I have to turn the psu's switch off and on everytime I try to see that .5 sec light. Here is the specs of my pc: -Ryzen 1500X with stock cooler -MSI b350m Bazooka -HyperX 2400 8gb RAM -Samsung Evo 850 250gb -Galax gtx1060 6gb exoc white -Seasonic M12II 520 80+ Bronze Fully Modular Please help me if anyone of you have already experienced this Thank you. I saved money for 5 years for this pc. I don't want it to die.

Hey all! My system is shutting down. I am getting a kernel 41 error code. The system just down. Completely off. This is starting off when I put in a new PSU. I had to rma my ax1200i due to coil wine. It will be back in a few weeks. While it is at the shop I wanted to game so I went out and bought a evga 850 gold and I started getting the shutdowns. I know 850 has plenty of power for my system: i7-8700k ( overlcocked too 5.0) kraken x52 cooler 4 ram sticks 32 gig total xmp: 3000 1080 to ftw 3 mother board: ASUS stirz z370 e. original psu: ax1200i once the problem started happening I removed all my overlcoks. I thought is was the psu so I returned the evga and got a Corsair 850. Same problem. Befor the crash rash occurs all my temps are fine. The crash occurs while the graphics card goes under major load. I was able to use my computer for photoshop for hours with no crash. any idea why this is happening??? thanks

Hi, I stress tested the CPU overnight with no problems the first time. I then overclocked my memory and tested it with memstest86+ with no errors. I ran my prime95 stress test again after the memory overclock and it shut down the computer at some point. I have another one running now where I increased the ram's voltage by a little bit to see if that fixes it, but in the mean time... do you guys have an idea of what to do next? I had this issue before the last time I overclocked and I can't remember for the life of me what fixed it. I think more voltage to the CPU even though it's the change in the memory settings that caused the failure. Anyways, I logged my hwinfo data and have a spreadsheet, so if you want to look it over and see if you can find a clue I didn't, be my guest: ASRock z390 taichi, i7 9700k, asus strix gtx 1080 oc gaming edition, 3200mhz Corsair vengeance pro RGB, 500gb samsung 970 evo, etc. 5.1ghz overclock on CPU, 1.28 vcore, cache 4.6ghz, level 2 LLC, ram: 3600mhz 1.38v 18 19 19 39. So I'm having an issue with a VDI environment where when the client logs off the Windows 7 VM gets stuck logging off due to shutting down programs (Outlook). The client could simply close Outlook before logging off but people are stubborn. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Reinstall of Outlook?

I'm at a bit of a loss with some computer issues I've been having. After not using my PC for a week or two, it suddenly would no longer boot up. Pressing the power button did nothing. After opening it up and reconnecting some wires, the system fired up but simply shut off within minutes. This problem has persisted for 2 weeks now and I'm suspecting it's the CPU even though that is supposedly one of the least likely parts to fail. I would really like some input on this as I'm pretty desperate at this point and would like some more certainty before contacting Intel for an RMA. The specs: i7 7700k, MSI Z270 SLI Plus motherboard, KFA2 FTX 1080 GPU, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB RAM, Cooler Master v550 PSU, Samsung Evo 850 SSD. Things I have tried: Different outlets around the house and another power chord Cleaned the case and components with compressed air Replaced the PSU with a brand new one (Corsair RM650x) as well as all internal power cables Reset the CMOS, removed mobo battery and updated the BIOS to the most recent version Tried all possible RAM configurations (just 1 stick, both in different slots...) as well as 2 new modules (G-Skill Ripjaw V) Replaced the entire Motherboard with a brand new one of the same model Reconnected all components, reseated the CPU and reapplied thermal paste Replaced the GPU with a friend's Asus GTX 970 Ran the system without the GPU connected and just on the integrated graphics (this seemed to work but after having the system crash with the GPU and immediately removing it, it shut down again even on the iGPU) Ran the system without the case power switch / reset cables attached to rule out faulty wiring Idled in the BIOS screen after a crash without even the SSD/HDD with the OS on attached Did several stress tests such as AIDA64 and OCCT as well as a variety of Windows and 3rd party diagnostics tools (the PC either crashes or diagnostics comes back clean) Monitored the system with MSI Afterburner and checked logs to rule out temperature issues (highest temp recorded was 72° in the CPU after extended stress testing at 100% use) Checked Event Viewer (nothing in particular stands out) Tweaked Windows power settings, disabled fast boot, disabled restart on failure Replaced the CPU with an identical brand new one (7700k) Ran the PC at a different house to rule out power problems at my place Ran the internals out of the case to rule out short circuits by touching the case or something In other words, I've replaced all components other than the CPU (temporarily, just to see if the system still crashed) including the PSU, GPU, Motherboard and RAM. I've verified that the crash happens even in BIOS without an SSD with the OS on attached. The CPU seems to be the only possible culprit here, and this seems confirmed by the Intel Processor Diagnostics Tool always crashing the system during the stress test / check. It seems that the system runs stable after not being used for a few hours up until it comes under load. When it then shuts off the first time, it often doesn't make it past BIOS again or will crash just idling on the desktop when you reboot it immediately after. I'm planning on having it RMA'd by Intel but am still baffled by what might be causing this. I've been suggested to try running it with hyperthreading or certain cores disabled so I might still do that first. I've done a fair bit of searching and didn't find much that compared to my experience other than this guy who had the issue fixed with a new CPU. Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys. Weird question but I have had trouble with my PC turning off during GTA v for a long time now and no fix has worked. I even upgraded my PSU. But today I read on a Steam discussion from a few years ago that if I turned tessellation in GTA to normal or off my problem would be resolved. I couldn't believe it at first but it is true, I was able to play GTA for the first time since I got my 7970 (old card I know but it was an upgrade from my GTX580) without the PC powering down completely. Now, I have this powering down issue in Crash Bandicoot Nsane Trilogy aswell but I don't think there is a tessellation setting for that game. What should I do? Any advice is appreciated

I am wondering why my WD Black 2.5inch hard driv makes a loud beep when shutting down or put Windows7 to sleep mode(using it in a desktop, I know a 3.5 would be better in many ways but I got that 500GB drive new for just 20-30USD). It is likely due to Hard Drive detected low power. Should I be concerned with my drive's longevity and data integrity? And if I should fix it, how?? (I am running a EVGA 600W power supply to feed a ssd, that hard drive, a Q9550 and a GTX 570, power wise should be more than enough. I suspect the windows cuts power before the HD wanna go to bed but I am unaware anyway to delay windows/motherboard cutting power to the drives...)

Just built a PC out of some used parts (cpu, mobo, ram) and my own used parts, and I can't get past post or loading Windows from a cd as it randomly shuts off. I've already reset the CMOS which allowed me to get into the bios but I only get about 10-15 seconds in there before it shuts down again. The hard drive and PSU I can vouch for as definitely working though the HDD needs formatted. The GPU (gtx560) was sitting in my closet for about 3 years, but I tested a 100% working GPU in the system and had the same random shutdown. The Ram is 1366 ddr3 dual channel which I tested in a working rig and dxdiag acknowledged all 8gbs. I've even tried booting without the dvd drive and kB/m in and it still shuts down. There is a wireless card installed which I haven't tried booting without (because getting the antennae off was a real pita...) But if anyone thinks that's a plausible culprit I will try that. Cpu is i5 760 and mobo is gigabyte something usb3 (I can't check ATM sry) it's the one with the usb power boost feature. Any ideas would be great thanks.

My motherboard allow pcie to wake the computer but not the Lan port. So I had a TP-Link nic but that seemed to stop working with the WOL (I am using TeamViewer). I bought an intel nic (the EXI9301CTBLK) and the green light blinks indicating it is seeing a connection. It will wake up from sleep mode just fine, however it will not wake from a full shutdown.(S5). What am I doing wrong? I am using NO-IP with a domain, I have the ports done correctly, it just refuses to work after it did for at least four months. Can anyone lend me a hand on this?

Hello, everyone this is my first post on the forum. I have a problem with my mini media pc Fujitsu Q9000. The problem with the PC is that it will shut down randomly and cannot be turned on for a while (like 20 minutes) I have tried to change the thermal paste, ram and new SSD and bios battery. I've also tried to install Windows 7, 10 and Ubuntu but it's not helping. The pc will stay on for the installation but will then turn of when the os has runned for a little while. Its powered up by an external power supply and have tried 2 different ones. Do you guys have some ideas what could be done next?

As the title says - my pc posts when I turn it on - then shuts off - then posts again and starts up fine. I've noticed this only happens when I OC my cpu and ram. I reset to default and it posts and starts up to windows. When OC'd it posts - shuts off - posts again and works like normal until next reboot after shutting down for the night. Hi, guys, I'm working the kinks out of my new build. Having just completed this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RBdcGG I was experimenting with using heavy workloads. I stress-tested using 3DMark and Kombustor with pretty positive results, and Blender renders were without a hitch. The issue came when doing certain games. After a period of time, the system powered itself off in the middle of my gameplay (crash to power off). I don't believe my CPU thermals are the culprit. At least when the titles in question are run, are pretty consistent under or at 60 deg C. I have a few ideas: PSU, GPU, or chipset. The GPU is, in all fairness, actually a Vega 56 with the Vega 64 BIOS loaded onto it and undervolted. However, I didn't think it an issue since I torture tested it both gaming-wise and computationally using 3D Mark and Blender, respectively. The PSU is 650 watt. Is that enough? I'm worried that the chipset isn't being cooled adequately. I currently have case fan set up to mirror temps from the PCH and the motherboard, but I worry about adequate ventilation in the case. As it is I only have one case fan installed in addition to the push/pull AIO setup. I appreciate any help on this. Thanks guys.

Recently (a week ago, more or less) I acquired a new AM4 based system, both for working and gaming, sadly, I haven't been able to do either. I noticed whenever I fired up a demanding app, the pc would go completely off after a while, without warning, and in search for solutions I found that it was most likely an overheating issue, so I decided to get HWMonitor and track the temps of my pc. All temps remained between ~40°C under max load, when shutdowns happened, except for the GPU temp, which maxed out @ ~75°C (Which I heard is fine, since RX580 tends to be a hot card) Here I'll list the applications I was using when crashes happened: -NFS Undercover. -Adobe After Effects (Render) -Blender. -TES V: Skyrim -Uningine Superposition. Hello All, Having an issue that I encountered a few days ago when installing new fans. Issue: Computer boots to windows login, then shuts off. Second boot stays on fine. The Boot Device LED is on during 1st failure, and off during second. Doesn't matter how many times or how long i wait to boot computer, EVERY OTHER boot has Boot Device LED on and shuts down. This began when I bough new RGB 120mm fans for my case. They worked fine for a few days. I realized I need to move the air flow and switched them up a little. All was well, until the switch. I noticed the RGB lights would dim at Start Up and then go back to Full Power and then the PC would shut off. I disassembled my PC, everything, re-coated CPU with Thermal, cable management, fans, changed Memory slots from A1-B1, to A2-B2, and inspected and re-set everything. I also changed RGB fans from Chasis Fan connectors to straight to PSU, which solved the low power mode on them, and no longer dim. Everything seems to be running fine when it works, and used 'Hard Disk Sentinel' to inspect drives. everything is fine. But have no idea why the Boot Device LED is on every other boot. PC SPECS: MOBO: ASUS Z170E CPU: i7-6700k CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Water Memory: 2x8 Corsair Vengeance LPX Bootable Drive: Intel NVMe 750 400GB Storage Drives: 2x Western Digital Blues 1TB & 2TB GPU: ASUS 1060 6GB Thanks in Advanced people!
