Hi guys, I just finished building my first pc. All went well (I think), but I've got just one problem. It seems like my videocard isn't being detected by my system, although the msi logo light is working. GPU: MSI R9 380 4GB CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 For those who are wondering: Motherboard: ASRock B85M Pro4 RAM: Crucial Ballistix BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU (2x 4GB) PSU: Seasonic S12II-Bronze 520W HDD: WesternDigital Blue WD10EZEX, 1TB I tried to install the latest drivers through the AMD Catalyst control center, but it gave an error. The weird thing is, when I run dxdiag it says my gpu name is Intel HD Graphics 4600 but in the memory box it does say 4035MB. I don't think my i5-4590 has on board graphics with 4gb Vram. Does anyone know how I can get my driver (and my gpu working ^^) edit: Monitor is plugged into GPU, Default VGA is PCI-e and I can't find settings to turn off iGPU (See pictures) http://prntscr.com/8fm35a and http://prntscr.com/8fm43m Thanks in advance ~Sozakir

Hey guys, So I have just bought a brand new XFX r9 390 (non x) gpu. I have installed it along with an ssd in an attempt to upgrade my system a wee bit. I seem to have a severe throttling issue with the GPU though, it will fluctuate from 0%-100% every few seconds or more, but it is constantly doing it during games and benchmarks. When I have ran the default FireStrike in 3DMark, during the first two graphics tests, I get 100% usage all the time, but; during the combined test I get the crazy fluctuation with the GPU usage, CPU only reaches about 60% but does not fluctuate too much. I also only seem to be able to reach mid 50fps average in the first graphics test and 40ish for the second, which I thought was quite low for the standard 1080p test? So far I have uninstalled and reinstated the latest drivers from AMD about 3 times, updated my mobo BIOS and removed any overclocks on my CPU, just incase. I am at a loss why this is happening as everything is now stock, all temps are fine, <68C for GPU, CPU temps are also good (cooling with NH-D14) This happens in games also, I have tried ARMA, war thunder, GTA5 & World of Warships. I also have a fresh install of windows 8.1 on my ssd. Here is a screen shot of the GPU usage during the combined test, sometimes its worse sometimes its the same as below, but its constantly doing it, even in games. Be great if you guys could give me some tips on solving the issue, my specs are listed below. FX- 8350, XFX r9 390, ASRock 990fx extreme4 mobo 750W corsair HX750i power supply 16gb corsair vengance RAM, Samsung 850 evo SSD 2tb HD Fractal Design R5 Case. Best Regards xJaffaCake

I currently have a 295x2 in my Corsair 300r case and am looking to upgrade to current R9 range. Curious to know if it is possible to have a Fury X as the main card and then a regular fury as the second? I would like to have two Fury X cards but I have no space to mount second GPU radiator. Thanks.

Hello, I'm thinking about buying a R9 390, but I'm not sure which manufacturer I should choose. I'm tending to Asus or MSI, but they're the most expensive ones, are they the extra cost? Thank you, Martzel

Hi guys! I'm about to buy the ASUS R9 390 in a couple of weeks as part of a step by step upgrade to my computer (cause i don't have that instacash) but my PC only has 6gb of RAM, it stated on the site that it needs at least 8gb to run, is this true? Won't I be able to use the card at all? PC specs: Phenom II x4 955 Gigabyte 880gm-ud2h 6 gb RAM 1600mhz (3*2gb) Radeon HD 5670 In case you are wondering: I'm picking that card because I want to play WoW on Ultra at 90+ fps in 1440p, and... well that's all. 970 is not an option, I don't want that card, really, besides I'm buying a Free-sync display (XG270HU). Also I'm picking ASUS because it uses the same PCB as the DCUII 290x so its the only one with waterblock available, I'm planning to watercool the whole PC once it is finished. I want the GPU now because my present one stopped working 6 days ago :'(. Damn 5 year old computer. u.u Thanks for your help!

According to the Taiwanese news site zolkorn.com AMD is releasing the R9 Nano on August 27th. With claims of a lower TDP and better performance I guess we'll get to see the latest AMD innovation sooner then expected. Please keep in mind that Taiwan's date is (approx) one day faster then ours in North America.

Hi guys! My graphic card is new and Im havin next issue. If I'm playing game or watching videos on youtube my graphic card stop working and I get an error that say: Display driver has stopped working and has recovered succesfuly. Only way I can remove this error to happen is if I open Afterburner and set Clock Core and Memory Core lower. I already reinstalled drivers and same thing happens. One more thing, Afterburner is not working with new AMD drivers so I have to use Catalyst 14.12. Can someone help please?!

I have a corsair h100i gtx cooling my CPU, I am keeping it so I don't have to fool with taking the pictures, packaging, selling, and shipping the stupid thing plus it cools my amd 955 be at 4.8ghz great at 45C at the highest. I am wanting to watercool my dual r9 290x gpu's so I don't have to listen to that airplane in my room every time I play GTA V. I am housing my parts in a Thermaltake Level 10 GT case and the top rad space is taken. I can mount a rad outside on the exhaust (at the most a 360mm) and a 120mm on the bottom. I have also seen where someone mounted one against the hdd area. I will show pictures if needed. I would like to know how much rad space I need to keep these gpu's cool during some overclocking and heavy use (GTA V). Thanks in advance, Robert

Catalyst 15.7 is still a fail! I looked up on AMDs page and they do not support 15.04 version of Ubuntu, but they do support 14.04 so I will send Penguin Recordings a tip about it tomorrow...

I have recently upgraded my main machine to windows 10 and appear to be suffering a driver problem. I'm running an R9 280x and I have the latest (non beta) drivers installed, however whenever I'm playing games i start getting graphics artifacts that either eventually end up in a crash or a notification telling me that the graphics drivers were having a problem but have now recovered. Upon the crash the blue screen informed me that it has something to do with an infinite loop occurring. Does anybody know if this is a common problem experienced with the R9 200 series and windows 10? Is my first step in trying to debug this to remove and re-install the graphics drivers? Thanks for any help.

Hello. So basically, in every game, no matter what, I can push a solid 150+ frames. My setup is an FX 8350, R9 290, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 650w PSU, Windows 10, 1TB HDD. Problem is, I can't maintain these frames. What so ever. Just about every minute or so, the frames go down all the way from the 150+ to under 20. Making the game UNPLAYABLE . They then go back up but repeat about once every minute or so. In CS:GO, early on (when i built the PC in April), I was able to counter these FPS drops by capping my frames at 120 . This solved my issue for a while, but then the FPS drops came back. So then, I capped my FPS at 60. For a while, the issue was solved, but just recently (a few days ago) the drops came back! This is extremely irritating and I know for a fact that my computer is very capable of holding a high framerate. (My computer from 2006 was capable of holding a steady 45 frames in cs:go without dipping under 45, and it was a crappy quad core 2.6ghz amd cpu, 7gb ddr2 ram, Radeon 6670 1GB.) It seems that FPS drops are much more frequent when the game FPS is left uncapped, or at fps_max 0. For games like minecraft, I wasn't able to do anything to counter the FPS drops. They've always persisted. Here's a picture of my CPU usage from one session of CS:GO, lasting about 5 minutes or so (There were about 5-6 fps spikes) The FPS of the game was capped at 60. Here is an album during a session of CS:GO, lasting 5 minutes in length, and this time, I uncapped the FPS. About 8-10 FPS Drops occurred. http://imgur.com/a/1vDnI This is what I've noticed while running these tests. When an FPS drop occurs, CPU1 shows the largest increase (going from ~50 [which is already higher than the other 7 CPU threads) to between 75-90) the others don't really push 60 whatever units MSI afterburner is measuring these in. (Yes, I know, it also monitors things Something to note also, when using NZXT CAM, my my CPU temp is 65 C and gpu ~ 50-70C Also, My Motherboard is an ASRock 970 Extreme3 r2.0 Nothing that would be using up my performance is running in the background, including antivirus/chrome. All cores are unparked. At idle, my CPU is at 65 C I have a Hyper 212 EVO. Do you think my paste job is messed up?

Is it worth it for 1440p? over the GTX 970? I know its a re-brand but you get extra Vram.

so ive been looking around and cant seem to find this anywhere else except for nvidia cards , but could someone point me in the direction of how to make a fanless profile for my r9 290x ? (apologies if this is a double post or it was somewhere else , if so throw me a link ) thx all >>>edit as fanless as in for light use and web browsing and have the fans come on when it hits a temp target <<<

Hi, Tomorrow I'm taking delivery of some 295x2s, and if anyone can supply a weight figure for the card and the radiator that would be grand! If it makes a difference the card brand is XFX. Thanks.

Im struggling on which GPU to buy for my build, I have around £160/170 (cheaper the better) to spend on it. I will be running this on a 21" screen at 1080p (1900x1080) My processor is an Intel core i3-4160, My case is an Cooler Master N400 (will fit both of these cards, although im hoping to get the Corsair SPEC 03 in a few months) and my motherboard is a Gigabyte Z97P-D3, also my PSU is a Corsair CX600M. The reasons i would like to go for the GTX are lower power consumption, runs cooler, seems better to overclock, and I trust Nvidia slightly more as I have used them before and its new as it came out early this year. The reasons I would go for the 280 is that my board supports Crossfire, not SLI and it has more memory and a wider memory bus if im correct. As im planning on slowly, but fully upgrading my build over time, If i was going to upgrade I would probably just buy another of the same card, meaning if i went Nvidia I would have to buy a new board aswell. For a 960, ive either been thinking of getting a MSI Gaming (http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Nvidia-960-Gaming-Graphics/dp/B00SKTY6PS/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1431895902&sr=1-1&keywords=gtx+960), ZOTAC (http://www.amazon.co.uk/ZOTAC-ZT-90301-10M-GeForce-Graphics-Card/dp/B00SIOOLS2/ref=sr_1_sc_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1431895858&sr=1-2-spell&keywords=gtx+960+zotax) or Gigabyte Windforce 2 OC (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-Nvidia-Windforce-PCI-E-Graphics/dp/B00SKTF83W/ref=sr_1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1431895936&sr=1-4&keywords=gtx+960). For a 280 ive been thinking of getting the Gigabyte Windforce 3 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-AMD-280-Graphics-Card/dp/B00IYD0HYO/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1431896131&sr=1-2&keywords=r9+280) I really dont know what to do, or what would be best could anyone help? Also could you tell me the best make to get out of the ones i have specified and what the best options/settings would be for overclocking. Thank youuuuu!

Just curious. I heard it gets loud at full load.

What's the deal with AMD and Nvidia not allowing 3rd party companies to create custom coolers / pcb for Titan series and R9 295X2's? Is there any clear reason to this? or are they trying to keep it original? concidering most R9 295X2's and TitanX's could just be bought at stock clock/price and then users can just OC saving themselves a bit of money instead of buying pre-oc'ed costly 3rd party cards? And should they be allowed or have they stopped 3rd party cards due to technical limitations?
