Earlier today I wanted to download something. At one point I was so desperate that I just downloaded it from a random site. When I opened the folder it was not what I wanted to download. I downloaded some malware that spammed my internet browsers. I downloaded some third party software to help me and it worked! But when I rebooted my laptop the start menu didn't work. I tried everything I could. I did a clean start, followed lots of steps form YouTube but didn't fix the issue. Does someone know what went wrong and how I can fix this? Thanks!

I just purchased a brand new 1440p, 165hz monitor and I'm wondering if I can setup my current 1080p, 60hz monitor to use as a second monitor. I'm also wondering if it will make my 1440p G-sync monitor cap it's refresh rate (and fps) in games to 60hz when I have media running on the 60hz monitior alongside the game that's running on the 165hz monitor. I've read and been told that this is an issue with doing this setup and I would like some clarification as to weather or not there is a fix for it! Thanks! I've attached a very poorly drawn drawing of my question onto this post if I wasn't clear enough My pc specs are as follows: GTX 1080 GPU intel i7 6700k CPU 16GB Ram 2TB HDD 500G SSD Gigabyte Gaming 7 Motherboard

Alright its a Intel Ethernet connection I2I9-v on the asus z170-E motherboard. internet speed through ethernet is stuck limited at 100 mbps no matter what I do. drivers have been uninstalled, reinstalled, updated more times than i can count. brand new ethernet cable (cat5e) and router has gigabit ports. the wifi speed I have is 200/10 but i just cant get my PC to get that speed through ethernet. been through 2 other motherboards that had this issue but worse than the current one. I can get internet at 100/10 with the port set to auto negotiate ( doesn't work on any other setting) and at random times at least once a day the internet will cut out for 20 seconds or so and then come back and work like it did before crashing. this has been going on for months and continuing the nightmare i had building this new gaming PC. Everything else works fine, just not this fucking ethernet port.

Guys currently i am on another place with my Laptop, but i experiencing serious disk problems and i need your help! So basically i have to find a way to fix random 100% spikes with my HDD without real usage. Whenever it happens the Laptop goes extremly slow and sometimes even frezes completely for an amount of time (anywhere between 10 seconds to over 1 minute) until it just kinda fixes itself and stops being on 100%. On the Task Manager HDD display shows that sometimes its just 100% spike for a second or few and sometimes it just continues up to 1-2minute and lower itself after to 0-6%. Is there any way to fix this?

So my PC for some reason, at any given point, will just turn white on both monitors, and the HDD LED will turn off, but the pc stays powered on. Lost a lot of schoolwork and got cooldowns for a lot of csgo games because of this. Been happening on and off for about a year, but getting worse now! A couple people told me in another thread that it was my PSU. Spent my hard-earned dollars on a PSU and it still hasn't resolved my issue. I wanted to make sure of what it was before I buy anything else. Feel free to ask me for any diagnostic info I can provide for you. I'll be home all week. PC breakdown is in my Signature Thanks for any replies

Good evening, I got a Dell Inspiron Gaming 7567 laptop back in September but I have recently ran into a problem. It seems like when I am using the battery the laptop will randomly restart. I can not seem to point out how I cause the computer to restart, sometimes I'm just using YouTube, and other times I might be playing a game. This does not happen often, but it has happened a few times. I've read where it could be an overheating issue, but I thought this thing had good heat management or whatever. I still have this under a warranty, but it is a good hour drive to the nearest Best Buy and I don't have time to make a trip. Also I know precisely jack about computers so I'm sorry if this is sounds like a stupid question.

Hey everyone. Here is a really simple one for you today - Like I probably know how to do it myself - its just been a long time since I've coded in C#. How do I get a file to save? I've got a template text file (a simple .txt) - imported it to the program - did some processing (i.e split the lines, added each new index to an appropriate list) - made some edits (read in the original line I wish to edit in the txt file - made a change - refreshed the lists and the change is there). However, I can not for the life of me figure out how to get it to save the text file. I have been taught it in university - but I just can't seem to get it to work. The dialog appears, but when I chose to save over a file, it gives me the confirmation, but no changes occur. I've tried saving as a new file - but even then the new file doesn't appear in the directory I've chosen. Heres my "Broken Save Code" private void saveToolStripMenuItem_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { saveFileDialog1.InitialDirectory = currentDirectoryName; if (saveFileDialog1.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) { fileName = saveFileDialog1.FileName; } } Again, Really stupid, probably really simple. But any help would be appreciated

My computer start stuttering like crazy without reason. When I for instance am playing a lightweight game and watching a 1080p youtube video. When I Just play the game or just watch the video everything works smooth and there isn't any lag at all, but as soon as I try to do anything at the same time. (Even only having notepad++ and a browser window open) everything starts stuttering like crazy. The weird thing is, my CPU and GPU usage barely go up (max 10%). I'm running a Ryzen 7 1700 + Evga gtx 1080. There is no thermal throttling and about a week ago everything was running perfectly fine. There are also sometimes periods when it isn't even there but then after about 3-6 minutes it starts again.

I am new to "hardcore" gaming and have never owned a real pc before. So as a competent person would do, I did my research. Apparently its not very hard to build a pc and you can get parts cheaply from newegg. I added the cost of all my parts and it wasn't much cheaper than the same thing from IBuyPower, it only costed about 10 dollars less. So now i can choose between the "Asetek 550LC 120mm Liquid CPU Cooler", "Corsair Hydro Series H55 120mm Liquid CPU Cooler " and the "Corsair Hydro Series H90 140mm Liquid Cooler". The H55 is a 14 dollar upgrade from the 550LC and the H90 is a 56 dollar upgrade. Wich one should i get? I am thinking about the i5 8600k cpu. If you need any information to be able to choose, please just ask. Please help

About 5 minutes ago my computer crashed, one monitor turned bright yellow, the other turned grey - Which seemed odd to me. My computer has been having random "stutters" of the death crash sound "BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" that everyone hates but it generally only happens once every 4-5 days so i just assume it's a little hiccup in my computer. However, after this "crash" my main monitor has now turned to have a tint of pink on everything, but my second monitor is fine which confused me...a lot. I'd assume if it's something to do with the GPU it'd be both monitors, but it's only the main one and only happened AFTER the crash. Any help would be nice Thanks

It sounds Stupid and probably is, i had this card 2 years and the warranty HAS JUST GONE (TRIGGERED), and now it has started to make the most awful sound, as shown in the video, it happens when playing any game, and gets worse as resolution increases the graphics card (Asus GTX 960) never exceeded 70 degrees and when it did the fans would full throttle (speed-fan) its not the GPU and it stops when not under load (not the fans) please help... In OC mode (factory) and No OC Mode Makes The same noise (Factory Overclocked), I did force V sync on and OFF and the noise did occur... Video Link: Sorry if in wrong place "New around These Parts"

I was having trouble with my router. Before, when navigating to 192.168.1.1 I would get this: "Settings have been updated. Web page will now refresh.Changes have been made to the IP address or port number. You will now be disconnected from RT-AC68U.To access the settings of RT-AC68U, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number." So I decided to reset it (ASUS RT-AC68U) by powering off, holding down the reset button, powering on again. However, when I try to access the router's GUI to set up a login, establish WiFi network passwords, etc. through navigating to 192.168.1.1, I just get "192.168.1.1 took too long to respond." So right now I'm stuck with a router on factory default settings, two open WiFi networks, and no way to access my router's GUI. ...help?

HI all, Today I just received a greatly anticipated package in the mail, 2 new monitors to sandwich my BenQ GL2760H. I purchased 2 Viewsonic VA2419-SH 24in monitors but I have stumbled upon a problem. The left monitor is fine and is running at 1920x1080 however, the right monitor is stuck in 4x3 stretched with a resolution of 4x3 and I have tried to fix this in the windows display settings but 1600x1200 is the highest it will go. I have an AMD r9 380 and I have updated all the drivers today as well. This is an SOS to all geeks someone please help me. (below is a screenshot of all monitors, look closely)
